A friend of just lost his job and he wants to get into Internet marketing? What are some of the first steps he needs to take in IM to be successful. Open for discussion and contribution. His mind set is that this is his only shot at success. I suggested he start with affiliate marketing and should not start buying products till he has gained enough knowledge from Warrior Forum. when he start making money join Wealthy Affiliate due to great training program. |

Build a list and make money that way. You can market constantly to it and people will begin to trust you and buy more often. Plus...most affiliate marketing takes multiple messages. Studies have shown that only 5% of people buy the first time they see your product. It usually takes 4-6 impressions before they buy. Having a list and marketing to it that way means you'll reach WAY more potential customers. As far as immediate cash...I'd suggest freelancing. Write 2 or 3 articles to sell and some to build a list of subscribers. That way you're making money TODAY and building a future income with the list. Cheers, Brad Spencer |

I'd suggest helping him pick a single business model and follow it to completion. Many people, myself included, allow the WF to be a distraction and try to go in too many directions at once. Kevin Riley, Tim Gorman and Willie Crawford, among others, provide solid info for beginners, IMHO.

I agree. Find a good business model and see it through to completion without distraction. Your first step should be finding a niche to get into. Do some proper market research before spending any money.

My advise to your friend, decide on what he want to do. It is good that he want to join IM. IM is the only business that require less investment as far as the money is concern. Choose the right product for him to start with. That product is the vehicle for him to get what he want. Make a plan. A plan will be his guidance on how he will carry out with his business. He may also need some skill in order for him to implement his plan successfully. The most important thing that will drive him to his success is his DESIRE to get what he want.

Losing one's job is a very scary thing. Suddenly, the security you thought was there has been yanked like a rug from under you, and you're now envisioning the classic "wolf at the door" scenario. Before you do anything, focus yourself. To react emotionally is a sure fire way to crash and burn. Accept the reality that you are TEMPORARILY unemployed. However, that does NOT mean you no longer have a job. Your job, now, is to find another way to create income. One of the sobering and also enlightening epiphanies I had, was when I lost my job due to downsizing. The truth is: THE ONLY REAL JOB AND FINANCIAL SECURITY YOU HAVE IS THAT WHICH YOU CREATE. It's a very sobering, but also liberating realization. A great deal of the working population has an employee mindset, and that's perfectly ok. Hopefully, they will always have a 9-5 steady job. However, in this economy, those prospects are not as good as they once were. For the entrepreneur minded. this is the PERFECT opportunity to take that step and create their own financial independence. There are many legitimate online opportunities out there. My best advice is to not rush into the first one that has a pretty website or makes the loudest noise. I'm not saying you should discount that potential opportunity, but instead make sure you do your due diligence, and research the field. Make sure you are comfortable with the company's product, training and support network, and their compensation plan. If everything makes sense to you, then take action. Best of luck to you and see you at the top! |

Personally, I would look into some of the things other people have done on here. Look into the classified ads they do here in the Warrior. Some of them have fantastic ideas about how to get yourself set up as an IM. That's what I did when I first started... |

This works for me so far 1.) Identify a niche you are passionate in 2.) Set up your business plan (A simple plan will do) 3.) Set up your marketing plan (A simple plan like your budget for marketing and the type of marketing methods to use) 4.) Be Patient (This is the key to success!) All the best! |

Warn him not to put too much on his plate. He will constantly be bombarded with "the next big thing", and he may just be desperate enough to try them all. Make sure he picks one and focuses only on that one thing whether it be mlm, affiliate marketing, Adsense, his own product. It's important for people, especially newbies, to stay focused on one venture at a time.

My suggestion would be if he had lost the job then he should find a new job, IM will not give him money from the starting month if he is new in this field, the best bet would be to find a new job and invest some part time in IM efforts. Just my 2 cents. |

I would do a lot of research. Internet Marketing forums are great resources where one may find out what programs are legitimate and which are not. I was so sad today. A very kind man joined Wealthy Affiliate University through me, who had just been taken for some serious money. I am helping him with all of this. His story really breaks my heart. There is so much abundance on this Earth. There is no need to take advantage of others. Know what I mean? I love this part of the Warrior Forum. Everyone is so wonderful. Cheers, Victoria |

If he has any type of skills in writing then I would definitely suggest that he learn to write sales copy first to get quick income coming in. From there, he should delve deeper into things such as affiliate marketing and such. But, that's a learning curve and takes money to see instant results. Unless, of course, you'd be willing to guide him along the way.

Find your passion! Follow it through. Do a lot of research, especially in keywords. Get a domain name, hosting service. If your friend can write then after setting up his site, write articles, press releases and submit to top directories.

A person who has just lost his job should not go straight to internet business. That can't give him money immediately. Even if he will do internet business, he still need a part time job. I therefore suggest a part time job and internet business on part time basis also. By the time he establish himself on the net, he can then resign his job. I wish your friend the best. Hi perfecthomebuz...I guess it depends on your reality. That is not my reality. If I was at a part time jo..... part time jjjjjjj..........hard to say that word....job. I would be looking at the clock and realizing hundreds of ways I could be getting paid off the efforts I did once, over and over. Heard of Paypal? Heard Of a WSO? Heard of Virtural Assistant? Heard of ebay? I remember when I read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad I realized that trading hours for pay will never get you where you really want to be..nor working hard towards retirement. Its for suckers. (I do not even have enough room here to list companies with lay offs recently) I have to be blunt...don't mean to step on any toes but in my reality it's true. Leverage what you do...leverage your time, get paid on a re-curring system, help other people make money and you will make money. Sell your neighbors stuff on ebay for them...just think creatively. punching a clock is not always the answer.

I know about this, because I got canned on Nov 17 of 2008! The Universe's way of telling me it was time to move from hobbyist to business owner. Affiliate marketing would be the easiest to get started with and see income without much start-up cost. Many free resources on line. I did it backwards and created a product first before getting into affiliate marketing. Get the income flowing and then focus on what you really want to be involved with. Use the established income stream to fund the "passion" projects. 'nough said, Cara |

Your first step must be to get ready for worst, sorry but it’s truth. Let me tell you my story. I spent months and months on studying, days in and days out of nothing else but studying… Modules… (needed), mindset…(full set, more then enough), part-time job… (would be nice, but no chance), crowded niche…(I personally fit two of them). And when you feel like you are ready to start up and running, when your mind is like “idea-generation” machine… one day you realise, every thing what you do goes wrong! Last four days I’ve been searching for the answer on question “What is wrong?” Day #5 is almost over and I’m still there! Are you ready for this? |

My advice is to stay away from the eBooks and any other program promising riches or even riches with hard work. He really is going to have to learn how to do keyword research, SEO, look up offers on affiliate networks (Commission Junction, Hydra, Ads4Dough) and THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX on how to promote them. The most important step is just to get started, tell your friend to Google the term, "2008 Treasure Trove thread" and start reading. If he wants to dabble in PPC take Jerry West's CPA Mindcrime (Free) or PPC Classsroom 2.0. Those courses will help him avoid the long learning curve and losing money. He'll probably still lose money in the beginning at CPA, but not as much. The stuff in EVERY ebook is outdated or very basic, and probably won't work for him. He should not get into IM out of a position of desperation, that is how you get taken advantage of and who the guru's prey on. The most important thing is to dive in and take action, action, action. When you get stuck come to the forums to ask for help. He shouldn't be just be searching the forums for ideas like someone is really going to reveal how they make millions for a mere $97 or even $1997. You just gotta be creative and test, experiment, etc. Don't expect to be spoonfed anything. P.S. The only tools you need are google external keyword tool, a keyword editor (revenuewire keyword manager), and his brain. Trust me! Don't waste any money until you understand the basics and can make money with just those tools. P.P.S. Maybe quantcast.com, alexa.com, and MSN AdCenter Labs Tools as well. |

Dear Forous: Can I speak to you in confidence? Thank you. It's one of the conditions I was asked of by an insider I'd like to introduce you to in just a second. So he's an insider? Yes. But although that in itself means there's money to be made here, it goes a LOT deeper... Once in a blue moon, you have a revelation. Something which makes you kick yourself and ask: "I can't believe I've been so blind! How could I have missed this?" I'm talking about a whole new income $$$$ if you're interested in getting on the fast track to 5 figures per month from home, this will undoubtedly be the most important free training you've ever seen. So you think this might be about investing, blogging, eBay or Google ads don't you? Think again! You're about to walk into a whole new cash generating world; the LARGEST and most amazingly uncomplicated methods on the planet! A mountain of solid-gold has passed us by for a long time... but not anymore! They can't keep the truth from us any longer... This insider slapped a brown paper envelope on my desk- a stack of highly confidential DVDs. I watched... and realized I was about to make a select number of my friends the proposition of a lifetime... so here I am. I must warn you though, what you're about to watch is... well, a little stirring. You're about to gain access to the exact "how-to" blueprints of a 2.3 Million Dollar business, it's ENTIRELY legal (or I wouldn't be mentioning it to you!) and completely factual. Just click below for all the details. It'll only take a few minutes, but I assure you, it's like nothing you've ever seen! Regards, Katina Williams ModaMoneyMakers.com P.S. I swear on my great great grandaddy's grave that this is 100% legit and the videos are the best I've seen produced in 2008, bar none. |

My advice would be to make sure that you focus on one program or service and stick with one free or paid marketing strategy in the beginning until you make a profit. Free marketing strategies like videos and articles and posting in forums can get you a lot of traffic but it can take longer than paid marketing to produce results. I would say that the only way that you're going to get quick results 1-3 months is by spending some money with a mentor who knows a lot about the strategy that they're using. For instance I'm about to join I Buzz Pro and I'm joining someone who puts videos up every single week and day for a month! on youtube-at least one promoting I Buzz Pro and they have been doing that for MONTHS! That shows they are consistent and that they are available so I am joining them because I know they are making enough money to do this full time so therefore they know how to produce results and I can trust them to be consistent so I can relax and know they will be there for me. That is the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE PUZZLE join someone who is making money but who is also visible, how many videos do they put up a week? 1 ok none they may have other commitments 1 a month passable, this of course is only applicable to people who use video marketing a lot but you get my point. They may use other forms of marketing and most people do but if you can see them actively doing something every single day that obviously takes more than five minutes and it looks like they're doing it you know they'll be there for you because you can often tell when someone in indias doing it! Then you know you're onto a winner;-) But In the meantime do some freelance work on Elance.com work out what you can do and offer your services there. But the most important thing is to FOCUS! One product One marketing strategy if it's free marketing stick to forums articles and videos and if I was to go for paid marketing I would probably start with email marketing and call people back when they opened my emails and visited my site you can call him 6315921945 Vincent Minglis he'll tell you more about it if you like. Great starting point for someone who hasn't got that much money to market but if you can access money 2-5k get a genius to help you invest it effectively free marketing takes longer, it works but it takes longer to produce results, I'm glad for it because it gets me sales but paid is A LOT quicker in the beginning. Interview people you join, make sure they come up in the searches in google, and do your research on them before you join. You will go far if you persevere and believe in yourself. Good Luck |

There is so many different option to go with in Internet Marketing. If you want to start out right from the get go. Then you need to get an Aweber account (or different autoresponder) Build a capture page and give away something for free that has to do with your Niche. Then learn all the different ways to generate traffic to that capture page and start building that list. Then in the autorsponders provide value to them, offer simple affiliate products that will help them in what ever niche they are in. (ex. if you have a list of soccer lovers, offer an affiliate program that gives different soccer lessons or products from click bank). That's a great way to start. I didn't build a list for the first 4 months online and Made Negative money. As soon as I started building a list I was able to quit my job and do internet marketing full time. Don't skip this crucial step. Have a great day! |

Hi, Sorry to hear about your friends bad luck with the Job. I agree whole heartedly with the feeling here of finding a good quality affiliate scheme and sticking with it. Don't get dragged into buying every new offer that comes your way. They will have to get the mindset right too in order to succeed. Check out the great affiliate offer on my link below which pays residual compounding monthly payments for every sign up referred. There is also a great free info pack to help get the mindset right from the sart. Good luck |
