This is actually tough for me to answer, but after thinking about it, I'd have to say:
1. Anthony Robbins because he's literally changed an industry 2. Bob Proctor because he's Canadian like me ![]() 3. Andy Andrews because he's got such a great blend of teaching and fun |

Personal Development:
1. Bill Gates 2. T. Herb Eker 3. Anthony Robins Internet Marketing: 1. Brad Calen 2. Joel Comm 3. Rosalind All of them first produced results themselves really without selling their teachings. After producing results they are teaching (except Bill Gates who haven't professionally taught us; we need to learn from his real life example) us which are really worthy, valuable, result producing and effective. |

For what I need right now and probably always when it comes to being a straight shooter and seems genuine:
.X. From the "Death of Crap": Most people specify the word "guru" to mean "teacher". The literal translation given to me is "from dark to light". Gu = Dark, Ru = Light. That means a guru is someone who helps others from the dark - from ignorance to enlightenment. How can you lead one out of the dark when you continue leading them down different paths? You cannot. |

Well, I copied it from one of X's pages. That's why I italicized it and said it's from the death of crap page.
I don't expect attitude (if you mean bad attitude) from a teacher, although they can be that way sometimes. A guru in a sense is a teacher but what he's saying is that they confuse and make people worse off. |

many of the guru's mentioned inspire me, but to me a guru is someone who teaches me. Right now, Alice Seber, the internet marketing sweetie has my undivided attention. And when I am facing a difficult decision, there is no better way to get an answer then to ask he who knows everything....my eight ball.

I hate the word "Guru", so I'll just list the 3 people I listen to above all others:
1. Allen Says 2. Jim Edwards 3. Craig Desorcey If an email hits my email box from any of these 3 people, it gets opened before anything else. These 3 gentlemen, each in his own way, has taught me everything I know about the internet, without realizing how valuable their lessons really were. Thanks guys. Dixie |

There are heaps of gurus that I like, way more than 3, but that's all you wanted!
So to cull my list down to three I'll tell you the ones that I really enjoy receiving their emails and my fingers haven't twitched to the unsub link: Paul Myers (always interesting) Frank Kern (always fun) Willie Crawford (always giving) Leanne

1.Napoleon Hill
2.Richard Branson 3.Carl Brashear Lots more, but these are peope with stories who really inspire me, in different ways. If we're talking web marketing Guru's only, then I'd give a different answer obviously, but I'd find it tough to get down to three, as there are a lot of web marketers who I think of as the best, for different things. Thanks Kev |

For me *personally* the only people worth being inspired by are those that genuinely tried to change the world in the face of adversity and *actually* made other people's lives better.
Some examples... Ghandi MLK John Lennon Muhammad Ali Mother Theresa Bob Geldof Einstein Dalai Lama Rosa Parks Nelson Mandela To name but a few... These people never sought the title "guru." They never expected you to empty your wallets to benefit from their "wisdom." They simple did and said what they believed to be right. People responded to them en masse because as human beings we all know, deep down, the ultimate truths of coexistence as well as inner peace. Many simply seek the easier paths. Many stupidly believe that there is a hidden secret to happiness and success when the most basic truth is that there isn't one, other than a plain and simply love for our fellow man. I do not admire any of the alleged gurus mentioned in this thread, except for their capacity to market themselves to needy people. After all, I am a marketer and have been for the last twenty years. I am also, as you are, simply their customer. Thomas |
