Personally, I was never introduced to personal development. I simply found an interesting audio book that sort of led me down the path. I wasn't really looking at personal development stuff as some haven for all my answers. However, within due time I did realize how powerful personal development really is. It's almost tough to swallow the fact that so FEW people actually take on some serious life study. How did you begin your personal development study? By accident like me? Was it something you knew about for a long time but just put off? Please do share with us. |

Funny enough...I was tired of being lame at the bar. My friends and I would spend plenty of time, energy and money going out....but then we'd stand there like morons. I finally had to look inside and ask myself, "why are things like they way are?" I began studying seduction at first, but that did not prove to be mutually exclusive to other areas my life...once you start improving in one area, you feel the desire to build into an empire. But don't become obsessive about it. It's still healthy to embarrass yourself once in awhile, and give your mind a break. |

AMWAY - World Wide Dream Builders... Until now, the BEST days of my life! I was in a wreched state when I was found... Turns out it was all in the Master Plan. I am in the process of returning to my "Roots" now, and it feels so amazing. Funny how we fall off the horse when we need it the most... Good News is that I am on the horse again, and life is getting better and more awesome every day. |

Many years ago when I was a kid my family all learned TM transcendental meditation. Later I read some Zen and Krishnamurti. I have also been influenced by Stuart Wilde, he has a great book called the trick to money is having some. It is an eye opening read about the game of making money and attitudes toward it. I have also been heavily influenced by Vernon Howard and my favorite book the Science of Getting Rich. All of these influences and my life experience lead me to write my next ebook which should be done in 30 days or so.

If felt i desperately needed a change with my personal life coz it seemed so frustrating. Then i stumbled onto "The Secret" video through a friend who had it on his pc. Its been a year and a half since then and its led me on quite a journey of self discovery and introspection. Iv also read quite a few books such as Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill and The Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale. Im still trying to get it correctly fit with where I need to go with my life but i have most definitely learnt a tremendous amount up til now |

My old job as a national training and development manager, so I spent my entire time looking at learning and development techniques, working with experts and inspirational people etc. It was incredibly interesting times.

I began my journey because I believed deep inside that I have the power do & have just what I want. I did have several issues to deal with as a kid, but always wanted to figure the way out. I keep trying... all the time to get better. Also, part of my job has been training. Meeting so many people, learning, needing to stay on the top of things... if you are on the otherside of the room, you'd better be good )); All of these contribute to my journey. I am still learning & love it! |

Simply because, until a point, my life was pretty miserable. I didn't know what I was doing or why I was doing it. Things were getting worse and worse until one day I just said: ENOGUH! I will do what EVER it takes to get this handled. And, so I did... And since then, life are GREAT ! If you are in any doubt or just in a place in your life, you should know this: The way to have a great life is ALREADY figured out. All you need to do is learn what the successfull people are teaching and then IMPLEMENT it ! |

I was having a rough time and stumbled on to "The Secret". From there I went onto Joe Vitale who accidentally led me to Tony Robbins and the rest is history, as they say. |

I reached a rock bottom, realising I did not like myself very much - Massive Action was required! I forget who taught this, maybe Tony Robbins... "Imagine you were to write your own eulogy, what would people say about you...what impression have you left on others and how did you contribute?" So now I approach everyday with excitement and energy (of course not everyday can be awesome) looking to have the Best Day Ever |

For me it was "The Secret" and, strangely enough, David Icke's lecture about the nature of reality

I think people can get involved from a variety of ways: Study of mystical aspects of religions, eastern religions, spirituality, philosophy. Transcendentalist Literature such as Emerson and Thoreau. Nowadays it has gone mainstream with Oprah's "confessionalism", and Dr. Phil, or Madonna's Kaballah, and other forms of Celebrintology. Salespeople are likely to know Napoleon Hill, writing in the golden age of door-to-door or in-person sales. In the middle of the century, business growth was more focused on planning and management as opposed to sales, so the 'gurus' of the age are people like Peter Drucker. This age is less mystical and more rationalist. The current trend seems to be all about small companies whose primary constraint is personal focus and prioritization. So, personal development has come back to be center stage in the process. Everyone who was alive in the 80s remembers the Personal Power infomercials from Tony Robbins. I guess people just have certain times in their life when they are more interested in looking at their path in life. Having mentors and undergoing trials is also a fixture of mythology and fables and are themes that recur in our movies and books. I'm thinking of the Karate Kid, "Wax on, Wax off". Mr Miyagi and Star Wars' Yoda are two highly recognizable 'gurus' in popular culture. Overall it seems more common on the west coast, where practises such as yoga and more nutritional lifestyles are more prevalent. Joel Osteen is a good example of someone who has copted a positive thinking / personal development within a Christian context. He's all about the positive aspects of christianity; never using the word 'sin'. So, I think this movement is pretty much a part of our culture. Public figures from Bruce Lee to Einstein to Gandhi have all opined on the idea of self-discipline and the best philosopies of life and success. These quotes have become part of the collective wisdom of most cultures. |

I can remember getting pulled into one of the first Tony Robbins Informercials. I can remember listening to one of his techniques where you can train your brain to attribute the values you have for something you love like icecream to something you hate like brocccli. I tried it and it worked..been a huge fan of learning how the mind works ever since. I think we should be teaching kids how to optimize our brain right from the start. |

I was fortunate to have a mum who thoroughly believes in personal development and positive thinking. I was meditating from the age of about 7 years old. Unfortunately as with most teenages I fell of the personal development path and didnt get back on to it until late into my twenties but I am glad that I am back again. I always knew in my heart that I would come back here but it took a while to stop messing around...my mum however never doubted that I would lol....dont you just love mums. Yous in success, Beth :-) |

I went to an offsite a few years ago and experienced two personal development assessments - Myers-Briggs (Personality Typing) and KAI (Creative Style). I eventually became certified to administer both in both personal and organizational development settings. What I read a lot in this forum I would not necessarily term personal development. Personal development to me is development of creativity and cogitive processes, with the ultimate goal of being more collaborative, more innovative, and better at things like marketing, salesmanship, visioning, creativity, communicating, and understanding others. |
