If you have studied hypnosis or NLP, chances are good that you've come upon state management techniques that rely on awareness and command of your physiology. As a brief example: Breathing rate, posture, and facial expressions can affect our mood. To change our mood, one can simply assume the breathing rate, posture, and facial expressions that you would have in a desired state. Well, I just came upon a very cool article that points to scientific proof along these lines. Specifically, as the article states, "When humans mimic others’ faces, in other words, we don't just go through the motions. We also go through the emotions." It's fairly long but well worth looking at if you haven't seen it. Page 3 connects the Botox like drug, physiology, and emotion with brain scans that suggest the proof. http://discovermagazine.com/2008/nov...ve-loved-botox |
