You only need one book: 50 Self-Help Classics: 50 Inspirational Books to Transform Your Life by Tom Butler-Bowdon Because 50 of the best inspirational books of all time are condensed into one book. Gee... let me think about this for a minute... do I read 288 pages (this book) or buy all 50 books and read over 10,000 pages? P.S. If you're still thinking about it... here is a dime. Take it, call your mother, and tell her there is serious doubt about you ever becoming an internet marketer. (Paper Chase swipe.) |

Not sure if you'd classify these as personal development books, but they certainly had a profound impact on my professional life: The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude by Jeffrey Gitomer (really anything by Gitomer is fantastic, but this one really hit home, for me) Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi -- called the "How To Win Friends and Influence People for Today" but it goes way beyond that -- best networking book I've ever read (and read again, and again....) |

1. It Works by RHJ ( plus one of the reviews in amazon.com by Brad Jensen ) 2. Attitude is everything by Jeff Keller 3. Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale 4. Note from a Friend by Tony Robbins There are more, and I love many of the books other posters are listing in this thread. The book that made me to start online business was Rich Dad Poor Dad. But when I feel wanting to start quick action, those books in the list above get me moving quickly. All time favorites. |

The Awakening Course by Joe Vitale is great, it really combines a lot of his programs into one, including The Attractor Factor, The Missing Secret, Zero Limits, and a lot of new content also. I'd recommend it. Of course, I also read the classics like The Science of Getting Rich and Think and Grow Rich. I haven't read Master Key yet, but have it laying around? Should I read it? |

There's something about Neville's work that really resonates with me. His greatest foundational principle, in my opinion is to think "from" your goal rather than "of" it. It's "positioning" in essence and it's the key to getting your desires across to the subconscious mind. Another classic from Neville Goddard is "The Law and The Promise". I'm sure you've read that one too, Pink. If not, be sure to add it to your reading list. Good stuff! Robert

For me hands down, Anthony Robbins. Not a book to recommend but an audio program (sometimes it's nice to take a break from books once in a while). I like his stuff because I find that he takes the best of the best of all the personal development books/courses and puts it into one nice package. The two course I like are: Get the Edge (10 day program, a precursor to the PPII program below) Personal Power II (This is a 30 day audio program) And he truly is genuine, which I like. I attended one of his seminars and he said to all 3,000-ish people there how he didn't even care if you pirated his stuff (it didn't hurt him one iota financially) as long as it was making improvements to you and your life that's what mattered ... not that I'm recommending you do that of course. |

Thanks for sharing all of your lists! There are quite a number of books that I have noted and will definitely do my best to pick them up for a good read! ![]() BTW, have any of you read The Millionaire Course by Marc Allen? That is the very first book that introduced me to Personal Development and the Law of Attraction. It actually helped me change the way I thought! From there, I moved on to others like Think and Grow Rich, Science of Getting Rich, Power of the Subconscious Mind, Awaken the Giant Within, etc. |

Some that I have found useful... -Poor Charlie's Almanack by Charlie Munger (Warren Buffett's partner). One of the top 10 books I've ever read in any subject. A lot of people here like Robert Cialdini's book, Influence. One of the anecdote's in Poor Charlie's Almanack is that he gave Cialdini a share of berkshire hathaway (valued at $100 k) as a thank you for his book Influence. He found it that useful. Cialdini's models filled in some of the holes in Mungers system. Munger also has a great reading list at the end, you'll be considered quite worldly if you go through them... Guns, Germs and Steel Wealth and Poverty of Nations How the Scots Invented the Modern World (interesting book) Cialdini's Influence. and others. -Anything by Jim Rogers. Great economic commentator. Probably the clearest and simplist explanation that you'll hear of whats going on in the world. -Anything by Jay Abraham. Esp his program, "How to get from where you are to where you want to be" Also a great political book I've read recently, by Mark Levin, "Liberty and Tyranny". Best book I've read that sums up where we are now as a country. |

I second the Science of Getting Rich. I turned someone on to it and they claim their friend really got rich. I am reading The Path of Least Resistance by Robert Fritz and it is very good. It talks a lot about understanding true reality. Also, the Secret to Money is Having Some by Stuart Wilde, How to Get Rich by Felix Dennis and everything by Jiddu Krishnamurti, most of which is free on the net. |

Here is the definitive guide to the best books in wealth creation: 1. Goals! by Brian Tracy - a complete course on goal setting and goal achievement 2. The Richest Man in Babylon - the foundation of money management 3. Rich Dad, Poor Dad - any book on self help and wealth creation that does not include this book is immediately forfeit 4. The 4 Hour Work Week - expand your mind to what's possible in wealth creation 5. Crush It! - the audio version is incredible! If there was one audio book I was forced to listen to again and again, it would be Crush It! 6. Maximum Achievement - also by Brian Tracy. If all of the convential wisdom of self help was condensed to one book, Maximum Achievement would be the result. 7. A New Earth - non-judgement, non-attachment, non-resistance. A wonderful guide to finding peace. 8. Anything by Pema Chodron - a Bhuddist nun. If you love Echart, Pema is a great extension of his voice. 9. The Psychology of Influence - get your message across and move people to take action! 10. The Well Fed Writer - don't think a career in writing copy is possible? You'll believe it after reading this funny insightful book. |

One of the best courses I've ever heard about wealth creation was Jay Abraham's "Protege Mentor Training Course" from 1990. He did a total of 6 courses from the fall of 89 to the spring of 1990. It comes with 48 tapes (or audio files). It's packed with information. Probably more information than from any other course I've heard. He also has Jim Cecil, Bob Morrison and Kendrick Cleveland. They cover sales, marketing, persuasion, confidence. If you listened to the whole thing from start to finish, it's almost impossible not to succeed or make money. I think one of the problems with modern books, or courses (after say, 1997 or 2000) is that people want short answers, and they want these "quick fixes". Peoples attention spans were different and longer in 1990. I think you absorb more information and it processes deeper if you read a long book or course, vs a short one. 5 quick courses are not the same as one long one. For fans of Jay, he tells his life story in the course. A lot of great stories. It shows where he got his knowledge from. It's an accumulate of many, many, many deals. Don't skip over those many, many deals. |

in fact, most people in the 'civilized' western world have this syndrome called 'low self-esteem'. this syndrome is a byproduct of our capitalist society and division of social classes. it is encouraged by big business, and our education system. go to school, get a degree, get a job, retire when your life is spent and used, then live off of the generosity of your children, if your lucky. these books teach the things people didn't know they didn't know. and at a pace that they can handle. one critical book for our A.D.D. friends out there (if it hasn't been mentioned already): The Power of Focus jack canfield, et al

He's not really a personal development author, but Jim Rogers (financial author, commentor) is excellent. -He explains things in clear, simple language. He has two main books, investment biker and adventure capitalist. About his trips around the world on a motorcycle. They're part travelogue, part lesson on global finance and investing. He saw a lot of these current problems in the US years ago. Investment Biker came out in 92 I think, and he was talking about a US collapse back then. -And there's a bunch of his videos on youtube, good short synopsis of whats going on. |

There are some fantastic personal development books on this list. Just added a few more books to my reading list!! One of the best books I have read is 'Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do'. Given that a lot of poeple quit when they are within reach of their goal, perseverance and hanging tough are invaluable qualities to have in pursuit of your goals and dreams. |

When it come to personal development. The key is to get change in our life and experience different results. Maybe you will disagree with me, I found reading less and implement more is a better strategies. If we just keep reading but not taking any action, all the time we read and learn are wasted. I suggest you find one book and keep reading it until you can master the tips or principle there. Develop your own system and taking action. then reading other books and get inspiration to improve your system. |
