Default What are you grateful for?

With Thanksgiving tomorrow here in the USA, I thought it would be a good idea to find out what everyone is grateful for. I think that showing gratitude is one of the keys to success in life as it helps us to focus on others, instead of only on ourselves.

I got the following in my e-mail today that helps us to focus on some of the simpler things to be grateful for. It's a little "cutesy" but true nonetheless:

> I am thankful:
>
> For the wife who says it's hot dogs tonight, because
> she is home with me, and not out with someone else.
>
> For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato,
> because he is home with me and not out at the bars.
>
> For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes
> because it means she is at home, not on the streets.
>
> For the taxes I pay because it means I am employed.
>
> For the mess to clean after a party because it means I have
> been surrounded by friends.
>
> For the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means
> I have enough to eat.
>
> For my shadow that watches me work because it means I am
> out in the sunshine.
>
> For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning,
> and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.
>
> For all the complaining I hear about the government because
> it means we have freedom of speech.
>
> For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking
> lot because it means I am capable of walking and I have been
> blessed with transportation .
>
> For my huge heating bill because it means I am warm.
>
> For the lady behind me in church who sings off key because
> it means I can hear.
>
> For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have
> clothes to wear.
>
> For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day
> because it means I have been capable of working hard.
>
> For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours
> because it means I am alive.
>
> And finally, for too much e-mail because it means I have
> friends who are thinking of me.

Well, I think nowadays people forgot to think about the precious gift called "free will" and "freedom" and "free thought"...

I am most thankful for having an independent mind, because when looking around we see a lot of people who only think that they are independent, but in truth they only do what other people indirectly command them to do.

This is fashion, this is trend, this is what everybody does, this is the way it is... this kind of phrases are learned by heart by the majority of people and they forget about their free will...

you don't have to do what other people do... you are strong enough and free enough to be individual... diversity is what our society needs people.

It's sad that the majority thinks that we are living in the time of the biggest freedom ever in the history. But in truth we are just living in a world of hidden restrictions.

But if you believe in your freedom and free your mind from invisible drugs and immaterial brain narcotics, then you can truly say that you are free even in this kind of controlled society

so therefore briefly:
I am grateful for my free mind and for my independent thoughts..!

I am grateful that my girlfriend said 'Yes!' when I asked her to marry me.

I am grateful that I have a comfortable house that I feel safe in.

I am grateful that I have enough food to eat.

I am grateful that I have good friends who have opened their home and family up to myself & my girlfriend for Thanksgiving - both of our families are too far away to meet up with.

And, as always, I am grateful that I am alive. It sure beats the alternative.

Yep, for me just being alive beats everything else.

Of course, I love my family and everything that I have, but just being alive and healthy, being able to wake up every morning and breath, that feels soooooooo good...

In no particular order...

I'm thankful for my ability to provide for my family - not such much that I forget about God, not so little that I feel like I am failing them.

I'm grateful that people still try to do random acts of kindness, in spite of all of the hate that surrounds us.

I'm grateful for my wife, who always forgives my mistakes and treats me like a king.

I'm grateful for my son, who wants to spend time with me.

I'm grateful for my mind that it mostly works (when I do).

I'm grateful for my body that I do not have major hurdles or challenges.

I'm grateful for my trials, they have helped me to develop into a better person - even though the journey has been a rough one.

I'm grateful for Jesus Christ, who renews my mind every day and has helped me to become a better husband, father and person.

I am grateful that when I do actually remember to focus on the things I want God, the Spirit the Universe responds.

Even though I understand the principles, I still sometimes wonder why?

Barry: Your start of the thread is wonderful. I would like to seek your permission to post it on my blog at Inspiration for The Soul at http:/InspirationForTheSoul.com - not for any profit but because it is such a "from-the-heart" piece of writing and it struck a chord with me.

I will include all and any details you want to have included.

I believe it will touch, bless and inspire many people to remember to express gratitude.

I know this is an old post but I am just snooping around and thought I would say what a sweet post I thought this was. We dont do thanksgiving here in the UK but everyday I am thankful for my daughter, even when she is being a little madam and I am also now thankful for the little bean groiwng inside me, even when he is keeping me awake at night squirming about. Hehe, you dont need to be rich to be thankful and I think this day and age too many people forget about the more inportant things in life xx

It's a bit late for Thanksgiving but I'm glad to have survived a Pulmonary Embolism I had last year. Wife was told to ride in the ambulance because it didn't look like I would make it to the hospital. Priest gave me last rites and everything.

Good to be here!

I have always heard that the quickest way to success is to literally go out and help someone else create their own success.

But if you are not interested in the making money side of the house all of the time and truly focus on someone in the pure spiritual sense, thinking of them as a brother or sister and truly looking out for their best interest something inside of you tends to change and you may just see things change around you.

I am extremely blessed, I have a very good family life, a wife whom I adore, 2 wonderful kids that are the world to me and a Savior I owe my life too and to whom I want to serve until I die.

I sincerely hope the best to all and may you be blessed in all that you do.

Today the answer could be something like this-

1. I don’t have to spend the night outside in the cold.
2. I don’t have to get wet as I have a roof over my head.
3. I won’t have to go to bed with an empty belly.
4. I can cover myself with a clean blanket.
5. If I still need another blanket I can fetch one from the locker.

I am grateful for my relatively good health
I am grateful for the abundance in my life now.

I am grateful for this beautiful universe

-being connected in spirit to everyone and everything in this universe
-grateful my mom survived cancer
-that I have a wonderful family
-that Im single
-that I own my own freedom and time
-that this earth is my home
- that I have access to water one of the greatest gifts to mankind
-that in my heart I can see an ocean of love
-that Im not afraid of anything anymore - there is a power beyond all the senses

I am grateful every day I wake up and find myself on the "right side of the grass".

- I am so very grateful for having the ability to live anywhere I choose in the world.
- I am grateful that I have friends and family that care for me
- I am grateful that I can make money working fo rmyself
- I am grateful that at a moments notice, I can go do something with my girlfriend.
- I am grateful that I have writen this down.

This post is great. Saying that you are grateful is onething but when you write it down, it means something totally different.

im greatful for....

..all the people who stole from me (IPR and ideas)
..all the people who kicked when I was down
..the lack of work in the early days
...having 5 kids to keep me focussed
...having been shot at age 15 (losing an eye) - THAT FAIRLY GROUNDS YOU
...dining with royalty
...meeting some very influential people
...failing so many times early in my career (got a long way to go yet)
...winning the awards Ive won
...the businesses Ive bought and sold
...for having a loving, caring childhood sweet heart who backs me 100% and me her
...for learning what I do and know that hard way by having to apply it daily
...for all the **** Ive had
...for being given the opportunity to do what I love to do every single day
...there is no substitute to experience, and for putting life into perspective.
...heres to another 41 years.....

Onwards and upwards

regards

Fraser

Countless things.

But three things immediately come to mind. My relationship. My time to meditate. My ability to make a living.

I just have to say thanks.

This is AWESOME!

I am grateful for my hearing so I can listen to music and hear wonderful conversations with my family & friends!

I am TRULY grateful for the abundance that is before me, because of actions I took 30 days ago!
