Funny I have never read any self help books or articles. I have overcome my struggles myself. For example I would become depressed certain times of the year, well I came to realize that it was the same time my first husband died also I was in a terrible car accident inwhich my best friend died right next to me so I would become depressed this time also. I never dwelled on their deaths it was my subconsious going thru the motions, it is funny how the mind works.

LOL,I did have a fear of snakes that I overcame by learning how to dance with one (bellydance I had a back injury that the doctors were amazed that this helped,it's not fixed, it will never be but I have given it enough strength to function ) I got her when she was only 12 inches long,I could barely look at her without getting the hebbie jebbies, it would take me like five times of putting my hand in the cage to even pick her up. The last time I danced with her she was just about 8ft long, what a beauty plus I could hand feed her.

I'm finally at a point where I want to self help myself financially so I have been just wondering thru these threads.

Some of us have that kind of thing come to them naturally. I can certainly relate to that. Alethia, you're probably more in a position to teach others.

As for me, my best topics are:

Happiness
Motivation
Spirituality
Affirmations
Attraction
Goals
Leadership
Public Speaking
Spirituality
Subconscious Mind

At least those are the ones I really enjoy writing about.

Come visit me at my Blog, or play some Travian; you know you want to.

Spirituality is something I have been working on for a while. There is so much to learn sometimes it can be overwhelming.I like reading about the Hopi, did you know that they are on the exact opposite position on earth as the Tibetian Monks. Also that the Hopi word for hate is the Tibetian word for love and Hopi word for love is the Tibetian word for hate. How did that happen?

Waal Alethia, You just taught me something here. I actually wrote something about the tibetians but didn't know "Nada" about the Hopi.

As for you Alethia at least you have the ability to cope. There are so many people who will never recover from what you went through. They will play that VICTIM MENTALITY of how there is NO GOD, life is not fair, why did these things happen to me mwa mwa mwa......mwa

But, you see in life we can't dwell on the past. we have to concetrate with the future.

And your future should always be seen as bright and nothing else. Thanks for your contibutions Alethia. Hey, I will also check out about the Hopi.

Hey Dantplayer

Well said. I too enjoy all your topics. I am into public speaking too. But don't really read about it or study. Coz public speaking comes natural to me. Too natural.

But,.......2 days ago. I was thinking about it and decided that I will need to begin reading about public speaking. I know I will learn a lot

Thanks

Great post Alethia. You found everything that you need within yourself. You are now a new person with new qualities and resources and don't have to remember something you read. Congratulations.

I have always said "put someone in the desert without a book, or a tape, or a computer, or a cell phone and see how long their book learning lasts before they finally reach inside and find the answers they need to help themselves."

Hey Thomas, great contribution. Many people don't know how equipped and knowledgeable they are. Sometimes we just need to calm down, relax and "go inside"...if you know what i mean. We do have answers within.

Hahaha......Sticking me in the desert would be right up my alley,I've been teaching myself and children how to survive off the land, though the desert would be a definite challenge.Infact we are turning the main part of my property into a permaculture,we have plenty of homegrown meat, chickens, hair sheep and goats, now we need to get the vegetation going. It's a long slow process hopefully before my life is over it will be going strong, in any case it will always be here for my children and their children.

Time management and focus. Those may not fit into what most people consider self help, but I find they're essential to any kind of long term achievement.

For me it will have to be goal setting and focus. I tend to stray all the time and not get things done. It feels so bad whenever my day ends and I realized that all I did was search and read stuff.

maybe you can add planning on that.

Hi Hesaidblissfully

Time Management & Focus are part of self. Definately 100%. You know, after visualising and staff, you need to be organized and committed, otherwise mind harnessing won't take you to your dream alone.

Hi J Mendez

Yes, Goal setting and Focus are important. From experience, everytime I lie to myself and say, I don't have to write down my goals, I will remember them cause I was clever, I ended up being distracted and lose focus of what I intended to do in the first place. So it's important to write goals down, set time frames for accomplishment, use timers, etc.....that will keep you focused.

I would say YES. After all, we all are examples to other people, we are leaders in different capacities.

You learn about emotional intelligence in selfhelp......Why, to be able to live in harmony with those around you and to set yourself as an example.

Taz,

All those that you mention are very helpful. But, if you are looking to make money online, my thinking is the one that has been most useful to me is “The Emotional System” And, I’ll give you my reason. The way humankind is constructed they can’t make a decision with the rational mind. They can only make a decision with their emotions.

Jimmy.

Hi Jimmy

Thanks for your contribution. Yes, Emotions are major contributors to what happens to us or how we react. But remember we still have that voice of reason, that aid us with help in making decisions as to which emotional states we should be in. That is the rational Mind from your perspective.

If you are feeling highly angry, the voice of reason knows it's wrong so it really tells you not to be. But your will is then needed as to whether you should give in to that emotion, or listen to the voice of reason. But we can make decisions from the voice of reason as to which emotional states we should accommodate.

Thanks

Taz

My favourite topic is: The Indentification, The Isolation, and The Clearing of Negative Belief.

The negative belief is everyone's "schoolyard bully".

Hi JH

Thanks for your contribution. Yes I agree, negative belief is a bully. But you know what we are really meant to do to them? Stand up to the bully!!

One more thing....any elaboration on the topic Identification and Isolation?

Cheers

It's like quitting cold turkey on a bad habit. Anything is possible if you want to change. Change must come from within, of course. External nudging helps but at the end of the day, it is your own self that will make the transformation happen.

Hi Mari

You hit the spot there. Gurus like Tony Robbins are only there to motivate you so that you yourself can initiate the change.

Change is feasible when you are ready to change!

Thanks Mari

Hey Taz, Interesting topic. The only thing I would add to your list is leadership. John Maxwell has written some great books on the subject. My personal favorite is "21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership".

We are a bunch of belief system competing for domination. That is our world, our reality. Which belief system of yours is dominating at this moment - positive or negative? If your positive belief system is dominant then you feel positive most of the time. Your world is a positive one and positive things will happen in your life.

If your world is dominated with negative belief system, then you need to learn to identify, isolate and get rid of the negative belief system to make your world a positive one.

Transformation comes in different form to different people, because everyone is unique.

For some it might be book or article, a life changing incident, a guru, a meditation technique or some other technique. You have to try some and find out what works for you best.

Great post Success4all. Cheers for that. I totally agree with you. Now I just wish, people can totally register this in their minds, that they have to cleanse themselves from negative associations if they want any good in their lives.

Let us make our world a better place.

I think all of us can use a dose self help on a daily basis. In order to succeed in the areas we are lacking we have to apply ourselves in those areas consistently and persistently that's how one can experience progress therefore success through repetition.
Affirmation,
Leadership,
Public Speaking,
Positive Thinking are the areas I like and want to excel in.

Great Topic

From an old post in this thread:

Quote:
Spirituality is something I have been working on for a while. There is so much to learn sometimes it can be overwhelming.I like reading about the Hopi, did you know that they are on the exact opposite position on earth as the Tibetian Monks. Also that the Hopi word for hate is the Tibetian word for love and Hopi word for love is the Tibetian word for hate. How did that happen?
I really do not wish to be a "naysayer" (which I am not) but this is untrue. They cannot be on opposite sides of the world as they are both in the "upper half" of the globe. In order to be "exact opposite" of Tibet the Hopis would need to be somewhere south of the equator.

That being said, I do find the word-thing most interesting. Can you sight a source? I'd like to follow up.

Regards,
Dave S.
