Default Who is the pillar of strength in your life

Hi,

Everybody has that one special person in their life that gives them strength. Who is in yours? Who holds your hand when you are down? Who do you call first whenever their is a good or bad news? Who you can share your every thought with?

Basically, I want to know your agony aunt Is it a friend, family member, teacher or spouse? Please share.

My grandmother was! We called her BaBa. She was born in Russia came over in the 20s and died at 98 still believing that men never landed on the moon. She was a very prayerful woman with rock hard beliefs in practicing her religion. Laughed at everything and ate everything on her plate. Simple is good!

Hey Jayden,

Great question. Sorry to give the most obvious answer - God!

You know how everyone lets you down sooner or later? Your best friend.
Someone you have trusted for years. Your siblings. Even your parents.
I have the most fantastic parents, but you know what, they cannot match
God's consistency.

Hope I am allowed to quote the Bible, because it says:
"...he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5)"
That is absolutely true. That's my experience...

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)"

That is just a tiny sample...

What a friend! What a promise! What security!

Your friend,

Richard

My husband is my rock. Whether a good day or a bad day he is my biggest supporter. Although sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming when I go to get my teeth cleaned and all the dental assistants want to talk about what I do. Kind of makes it hard to have a conversation when people have their hands in my mouth! lol

I have to echo this. God is my strength.

Here's how a 13 year old put it:
A friend is someone who's willing to share
The folding hand that's dealt your way;
Someone who shows they really care
With each elapsing day.

A friend, when you're feeling down and low,
Will help you cope with your battles and win;
A friend will surely help you to know
That you're only going through a bend.

There are many bends in this road of life
In which, Christians seemingly get caught;
But a friend will help to pull out the knife
And heal the wounds that the world has wrought.

It's hard to find a friend so true
Who would make such a sacrifice;
That's why I'm glad I've found a friend in You
My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

My mother is my rock. He's so loving and dear. When ever I'm in a challenging situation, she's always there to guide me. She's my best friend. We can talk to each other for hours and never get tired of each other. When we're together, it seems as though we haven't seen each other in years. I call her my beautiful angel. And that... she is.

I'd say I'm my own pillar of strength. Mainly because I don't like to rely on others for that in case they're no longer there. At least I know I always have myself.

Sybiz and Johnny Depth, I'm right there with you.

I cherish my time with my friends and family and often use them for support or vice versa. When it comes down to it, I am my own motivator and/or demon. People now and then can waver my thoughts or direction, but no-one picks me up from the ground but myself.

I could be singing to a different tune if I were married, but for now that's my song and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks Jayden, good thoughts

I also have God as my rock. I pray a lot to Him for strength. I also love my family deeply and I would do anything for them.

My two cents.

Hello Omari Taylor here,

My pillar of strenght in my life is first GOD and then my mother. Her life story is unbelievable. Being a single parent with to boys and still accomplishing what she has is amazing. She has always been there for me and I love her.

Hi,

Without any shadow of a doubt, my lover, soul mate, best friend and wife of over 40 years, Jane. We've been up, we've been down and we have ridden the rapids and are still riding them today.

She is a writer, poet,musician and artist and most of all she helped me believe in myself many years ago when self confidence was hard to find.

I found it interesting that no one mentioned their pastor, priest or even Jesus or any of the other prophets. How about a teacher or a best friend?
For me, my friend Jeanette is a person I can share my innermost feelings to without being judged, What a great feeling

Hi Everyone,
I would have to say that my pillar of strength is me and so far I have no had regrets.

If you are not a pillar of strength and companion to yourself first, then you cannot successfully find those qualities in any one else, because you would not truly know what they really mean.

To my mind, being your own best friend and getting to know who you are, are the greatest gifts anyone can give to themselves.....people you come in contact with......and the creator.

Here is where they would find true strength and happiness which can be taught to others so that they in turn can become strong and happy themselves.

There are those that I can always turn to (family, a close friend), but I have learned to be open to those who show up just when I need them - whether I realize it at the time or not. That may be a word of advise, a helping hand from a stranger, or even just a smile across a distance...

I would have to say that person for me would be Jim Rohn. He has a certain business as well as personal philosophy that resonates to everyone from every walk of life. When I find myself questioning if I am doing the right thing I just listen to one of his CD's or read a couple of chapters from one of his books, and it helps me to remember just how important I am to this world also.
Thanks and make it a great day.

I'd have to say my past successes. Whenever I feel bad, I think of the past successes I've had. Speaking in front of groups of 600, acing a final exam, getting a girls phone number, etc. Ultimately I can't depend on anyone else, I have to get that strength from within. It's the only thing that will last as long as I'm alive.

Might sound arrogant, but I am my own pillar. No one has the dedication I do to my own dreams and when I feel weak I simply think about the fact that anything worth having is worth working hard for.

Yes, I do have this special person in my life!
He is the greatest man I can imagine. He is trustworthy to the bones, he is truthful, loving and caring.
He is always there when I need him. All I have to do is come before him and ask him for his assistance and help.
He never ever will let me down!
Who is it?
His name is JESUS!!!

God bless you,

My Mom...I watched her struggle my whole life....close down, broken heart and defeated, but still fought hard to make us all better people and prayed for everyone. She fought a Breast Cancer that was brutal (IBC) and didn't once give up or succum to meds. She believed she was where God wanted her to be and refused to let man sway her. God Bless her...she was a strong lady! She died a very honorable death. He win was in heaven! R.I.P. LaVena Torres!

I use to call a good friend, and even went to a counsellor but if it is meant to be it is up to me. Get clear and listen to your gut feeling.
