Lightbulb *IMPORTANT* The Question That Changed My Life... Literally...

I am not joking, this question changed my life. I always ask it to everyone who I give advice to, and the look on their face, and their actions after, show that they have changed too.

It was a question asked to me by a friend of mine who is a GREAT marketer, but not in the IM niche at all (but it is an AMAZING niche!)...

WITHOUT DOING THE MATH... How long does the average person live, IN DAYS?

A) Tens of thousands of days?
B) Hundreds of thousands of days?
C) Millions of days?
D) Billions of days?

Remember, do not do the math!

Most people say either C. or D. The actual answer is A.

The average person lives about 28,000 days.

I myself had said "millions" because I thought it was a trick and one would guess billions. Nope.

Moral of the story is: Life is short. Don't do something if you aren't happy, don't sit around and let time pass you buy.

I hope it has changed your outlook too!

They say the first answer that comes to mind is usually right- well in this case, I was right. I didn't do the math, nor did I look at the multiple choices, and my first guess was 20k days.

So, I was off by only 8k, all using the power of the sub conscious mind !

My Genius friend always says "answers just pop in my head" - he's not lying.

This just proves to me, my first impressions are usually (somewhat) accurate. I was off by 8k, so still room for improvement. My internal clock is pretty accurate too. The mind is a wonderful toy

Thanks!

I would have said may be one or two days because most people might be alive throughout their lives but actually LIVING it as to what they consider real LIVING most only do this a few days in their lives.

Great post. Life actually is very short, and one should try to go after what one wants.

I've witnessed many people procrastinate starting off, and they have excuses (not reasons) for that. Your post servers as a good reminder to them not to let time pass by, it's precious and won't come back.

Do what you want to and get started now, as the time you're waiting for never comes.

Thanks for the inspiring post.

I answered B, because somehow I thought of 365 X 10 years = 36,500, so I guess I quick (mis)calculated some of the math ;-)

My dad's a college math professor, so please let's just keep that between us

The point is well taken... and I would add to live each day fully.

Actually, I thought it was a trick question, because I clicked on this link from the home page showing the last post from Kimberly where I first saw 365 before I read the question and I thought the answer was something like:

"We only live one day (at a time)".

There is much wisdom within exploring this deeper.

Warmly,
Dan

It's Ironic that as we do things we love time passes so quickly.
Life is never too short if we have used that life to achieve, help others and show love so that those who have felt our presence then go on to do the same.
If I died tomorrow but someone had learnt from me what love truly is today I'd be the happiest person in the world.
Don't show everyone else what you can be,show yourself!

Uh huh. The question is HOW. This is more often than not easier said than done.

It's one of the paradoxes of life, where to live life - one that is, statistically speaking, "short" - to the fullest, one must learn to live IN THE MOMENT as though it were eternal, and we were infinite.

Also, the interplace between sex and death is a powerful dynamic; the latter representing a cessation, and the first representing a continuation. This is the reason why these two themes are SUCH powerful motivators in marketing...

How do you think we could incorporate these two energies in order to live life to the fullest?

Managing time (and wasting it) is impossible though. The trick is to manage - and not waste - OURSELVES. Time just goes on...

YAY! I am back from indoctrination week... it was amazing.

With that said... to the people who took time to do this, I am very glad to see that it has opened your eyes... It really did for me...

I mean, I have lived almost 1/4 of my life already... and that is IF I die at the norm...

A friend of a friend of mine just passed in a car accident last week.

The Power of Mortality - SO true and soooo important...It helps keeping things in perspective and realize that there's no point in doing what you don't like to do nor accept any limitation or bad situation...

When I took the decision to go full-time online and left college, it's what helped me the most: understanding that I don't HAVE to live the same way most people do, cause life is short and there's no point going after something that isn't your true passion in Life.

A week ago or so I stumbled across this great post on Barefoot Fitness (found it on Nate Green's blog):This Too Shall Pass | Blog | Barefoot Fitness

Hope you get something out of it.

LIVE your life now, cause tomorrow may never come!

Always interesting to hear of the shortness of life...in this realm.

Yet, I can't help but wonder why we...a group of people who acknowledge a belief and acceptance of things like the power of the mind, the law of attraction, and other more eternal principles and concepts...get caught up in focusing on the SHORTNESS of life.

Life isn't SHORT. Life is eternal. We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are eternal spiritual beings having a human experience.

Life is ETERNAL.

Yet, of course, there is good reason to be reminded that our association with others may be temporarily suspended as they (or we) pass from this realm into another. That separation, usually called death by those of us still here, can be sad, painful, and difficult to bear.

I do like the previous post that reminded us that the best way to get the most out of life was to focus on living it in the moment, NOW. Hear! Hear!

The human mind is a binary critter, what it focuses on becomes realler to the exclusion of what is unlike the object of focus. So if you want to be happy, focus on that. If you want life rather than death, focus on that. Light and darkness can't coexist, one excludes the other. Or more accurately, the light destroys the dark. Not vice versa. And the infinite I AM can open the windows to heaven and shed light on all around. Just needs focus.

That is a great question to make one stop and think.

Another question a writer shared with me that she likes to ask when she meets someone new is this: If you had all the money you needed and didn't have to work, how would you spend your time? She actually found her future husband by asking this question because his answer was that he would write.

This same happily ever after ending isn't promised to you but you do learn what a person's true passion in life is that way.

Mouse,

Yup, that changed me.

I was thinking either A or B, but after looking at the actual number 28,000, that does not sound like many days.

Really, pass this exercise down and ask them to do it too... Think of how many lives could change, directly and indirectly, if people took this to heart
