Just saw Barry's post above so wanted to add - that today is the 'present' a day to be unwrapped and enjoyed regardless of everything. Whenever, I think of today being the 'present' I find it uplifting, hope this thought helps you as it has helped me. Roma |

I rarely get down, but if I am feeling that way... I look for someone else to help. Most of the time when we feel down it's because we are too self-centered. By helping someone else, it helps me focus on being of service to others, which immediately gives me a positive purpose and feeling. -- Mark Hendricks |

This may not be to everyone's tastes, but for the past couple of months I've been going to boxing training. For me I can't think of a better way to blast through the blues. Yesterday I was feeling pretty down. I'm a freelance video editor and I was informed on Sunday that could there be a downturn in shifts, I think I was slapped by Google on my first ever adwords campaign and I have no idea why, and to top if off I was feeling really tired and run down. Anyway, I really didn't feel like it but I went to boxing training and by the end of it I was on top of the world. I walked to the train station with a couple of the other attendee's and you couldn't shut me up I felt so good. And then today I got offered four shifts next week! I do go and spar in the ring, but to the body only. But you can go and just do bag and pad work and skipping. If you do go, be prepared as it can be quite intense but for me the benefits are easily worth it. (Even if my left arm is severely bruised from the sparring :-) Sean |

I set it all down. And walk away. I do something for "me" without thinking one bit of whatever it is that's got me down. I count my blessings and enjoy the day! After a day or so, I usually have an answer to whatever it is that's got me down. |

To be honest I cook something Italian or go shopping. So I do my best to remember to go get my Serenity Cards. I created them because I can get 'real down' at times and of course that's not a good space to stay. You can get yours at http://www.elevatingyourbusiness.com...enitycards.pdf May you use them to your best advantage always. |

I get out the best book of quotations I've ever found and flick through a few pages. One of my favorites is by the actress, Mary Pickford, and I quote: 'You may have a fresh start any moment you chose, for this thing we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.' |

What is working the best for me I just go out for a walk. Let the wind and sometimes to rain go through my head. It always clears me up a lot and I feel a lot better when i get home. And when i got home i read a postive book, or CD. It always works for me

Don't forget that time will heal your wounds! But try to focus on things that are good that have happened in your life. Be grateful for that. Assure yourself and say" This too shall pass" Pay attention to your mind and make sure it doesn't take you too far down to think negatively. Cause what you think of quite often, will eventually take a physical form and manifest in your reality. Cheerz |

I know that when Im feeling down about working I need to take a break. Ill spend time baking with the kids, hanging out with girlfriends, or just reading a book for a while. Of course after a while I have to get back to work but the break usually gives me time to put everything into perspective and I can start again with a new determination and positive attitude.

Writing poetry has also helped me out in great times of need. Writing is a great way to get your raw feelings down and then sort them out. Give it a try; find a means of writing that you enjoy and will help you.

Some days I just have to work through it...and others I do take the day off! No matter what I have to do, it is important to recognize that I am (you are) down and to change my focus on to some other idea. Being down is just a mental construct anyway. It does not matter what we do but what we think. Cheers All! |

As you can see from all the posts here everyone has his/her own way of getting up and coming out when they feel down. Find out what works best for you and do it. What works for one may not work for the other because people are unique. Also, if you could pin down what caused the feeling, it helps. Normally I meditate and refresh myself. But some time I feel it was purely physical then I go out for a walk or do some exercise. |

When i get down or dis-heartened, I just walk away from what I am doing go far a drive down the beach and walk along the shoreline, enjoying the freedom. Then I remember this is why I started in IM and it is only IM that has enabled me to be able to just take off whenever I want and go for a walk down the beach. This gives me the biggest boost ever and I get focused Straight away. To Our Success |

There is only ONE solution my friends. Forget Tony Robbins and other life coaching techniques. Get a hold of Jimmy Osmond's "Tweedle Dee" and turn it up. This technique of ridding yourself of depression was discovered by a tibetan monk 2000 years ago and I assure you it works! |

Even though I'm deeply involved in personal development, self-improvement and coaching others, the first thing I do is face up to the fact that I am feeling down. I discovered that knowing where I am helps me figure out why I'm there and what options I have ie. stay down or get up and go. |

I go weed the garden. Crawling around in the dirt always cheers me up. In fact, gardening is my therapy for just about everything. If I'm really mad, I put in a new garden bed. Nothing like double digging and hauling fertilizer to burn off some steam.

I take a break and go for a walk and give gratitude for everything I have in my life. I find that way your body and your mind gets a dose of the good endorphins. Also I have a vision board in my office that I sit and look at visualising myself having those goals and giving thanks. I do this 4 times a day that way I am creating a change in my brains chemistry and keeping it focussed on the goals I am working for. Everyone can get down, but not everyone can get motivated to keep on going when they get down, and so many people give up 5 minutes before their goal is about to break through. So many good answers have already been given, we all go about it in a different way, but to everyone, I remind you of a Quote by Sir Winston Churchill "Never give up, Never give Never Give up!" |

sometimes when I'm down and out I'm taking a time off and feels like going out a little bit and feel like going to the beach to relax and chill for a moment with my own self. Or you could go a little bit of site seeing it will be good to feel the air once again.

It depends on how I feel and what I feel I "need" to get done. Lately I've been better about giving myself some space...but I'm also getting better and quickly moving through "feeling down" because feeling down doesn't serve me. I tend to focus on the things I'm going for, and will reach for a "better feeling thought". No matter how slight, reachin for a better feeling thought starts to move me through the process of getting through "feeling down" and getting me back on track. |

Depends on what sort of down feeling it is - I might try and keep shut and think about things and how can I work forward to make them better. I might call up my friends to catch up for coffee or a movie and later dinner Listen to music or Just take some time off and visit a new place to rejuvenate ... |

On a down day, I have to keep working because that's when you know that you are closer to success. If I'm feeling down, I will watch motivating videos of people conquering some obstacle or being successful. Empowerment is very important to have in those down days and a great Youtube video or one of my personally saved ones, I'll just start playing them and my mind begins to transform and readjust. Always hang in there. |

For me, I would try to avoid feeling down. Some of my best practices I use to nudge myself should I feel down or just when I am going to feel down... 1. I simply SMILE, LAUGH and make another person happy by telling jokes and act funny. Smiling and laughter are as contagious as yawning. 2. I lie on the bed and recite my personal mantras (you can create your own) - "It will be all over when you wake up" or "Tomorrow is a better day" or "Rest first, think later". 3. I would SING! Sing my favourite songs. Pour out my emotions into the songs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below is a short story I wish to share... JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT FAILURE WAS THE END... John was standing at the roof top of his 9th-storey apartment, slowing walking to the edge. He then looked down. He saw people walking around, cars zooming here and there. The first drop of tears, trickled down from his eyes. In his mind, he thought back. He felt his life was terrible, in fact the worst life no one had ever have… He just went bankrupt. For the past 15 years, he has changed numerous jobs, basically job hopping. Never once, he felt he was successful. He lost his wife who took away their children due to his bankruptcy… He just couldn’t think anymore. Feeling devastated and lost, he lifted his left foot up and walk towards the air. In his mind, he was sure he wanted to end all these immediately which he felt is unfair and suffering… He did the free fall… Along the way in his free fall, he got the opportunity to see what he had yet to see from his neighbours… On the 8th floor, there was Anna having an intimate affair with her best friend’s boyfriend…. On the 7th floor, Mrs Anderson was shouting and physically abusing Mr Anderson… On the 6th floor, fat and lazy Peter sitting on his couch munching his chips watching TV. On the 5th floor, Craig who just lost one of his limbs in an tragic accident was still trying hard to stand up. On the 4th floor, respected neighbour Uncle Nicholas was trying on his wife’s panties and bra. On the 3rd floor, filial Alex was cleaning and changing his mum who went bonkers after a divorce. On the 2nd floor, John closed his eyes… Just before landing on the ground floor, John realized that his life was after all not the worst… There are much worse ones out there. But then it was all too late… His neighbours gathered around his body and shooked their head. In their mind, they sighed, “After all, my life is not as bad as John”… Is life really that bad? Think twice.. Don’t jump the gun. Failure is never the end to everything or anything. Sometimes, you just need a little nudging to change your life. |

When i get that feel of a bit down and unhappy, i sit outside under the shades get a piece of paper and a pen and write poems, doing the things that i like to do. This way my mind is refreshed, relaxed and amused.

Exercise does it for me. Nothing beats a great workout to release the endorphins to get me back in the groove. Sometimes a quick workout is all it takes, but sometimes an hour on the heavy bag is just what the doctor ordered. Scott |

Personally, I take the day off to cool down and relax. However, my girl suggested the best and natural way to do so is to submerge oneself in water to drown out the noise, and just lay there and float.

Just follow the advice of the song by Argent: Hold Your Head Up! Our physical bodies and our emotions are tied together. If you hold your head up, you will affect your emotional state. (The Dog Whisperer once used the method of holding a dog's tail erect to help it stop being frightened.) If you don't believe me, put your head into your chest, and say, "I feel good." while looking at the floor. How do you feel? Pretty lousy, right! Now, throw your arms in the air, hold your head up, and yell out, "I'm so depressed!" Got you, didn't I? Make it a great day! Brother Paul |

Ok this is really simple and effective, write down every thing you are grateful for and also write down EVERY SINGLE happy moment of your life, doing this will bring a smile to your face and will shift your emotions straight away, then read these every morning when you first wake up and every night before you go to sleep, trust me, this is the easiest way to guarantee a good mood.
