Lightbulb Mind Tricks

Many times it is our thoughts that shape our destinys. If you are thinking off balance then your work may be unbalanced as well. Worrying, apprehension, collecting information and not appying it. All these things can slow us down, so...

We might as well give ourselves tools, resources, or even tricks we can apply to the mind when we need them.

I read along time ago to take the bad thoughts that are bothering you and place them tight in your fist.

Now you must think of a time when you had a major accomplishment in your life. A time when you were so proud of your self for what you had achieved. Whether it was helping someone out of a jam, winning in a race or other competition..or when someone told you how special you are to them. If you really concentrate you will think of many, many moments when you felt very proud and for good reason.

Now melt those positive thoughts into a pure golden liquid of light. An intense source of real positive energy....it's real because those positive things we remembered really happened.

Now you slowly pour that golden liquid of light into your clinched fist and feel that negativeness dissolve.

I did this once...and just once only, and that negative experience that I just couldn't shake left me that day forever.

Is it corny and all in my mind? ha ha...not anymore.

Another quick excersise is to remember your physiology when you are in a moment of triumph in your life. How do you stand? How are you breathing? How do you walk when you are at the top of your game?

When you get in a dark moment just start mimicking your physical traits from when you were feeling fantastic...this works everytime.

You just can't be down if you are smiling and strutting around like you just won the New York Marathon, The lottery, A Million dollars on Deal or No Deal, and a set of steak knives!

Does anyone else know any Mind Tricks?

Awesome technique. When I'm anxious, apprehensive, and unsure of myself I like to imagine drawing a light around my body. Starting from my left leg I imagine a white light of pure, positive energy and slowly draw it up from my leg to my underarm, around my arm and over my shoulders and head, then down the same way until the cycle is complete. Nothing spectacular, but it helps. Something I learned from a wonderful person is to use positive thinking and to "push against" negative thoughts, pictures, and feelings unfortunately I can't remember the exact process. If it comes back to me I'll post it. Would love to see more techniques myself.

Try a balloon. Negative thoughts, bad memories. Imagine them as a colour flowing inside the balloon. Once you have imagined all of it into the balloon, imagine tying off the balloon and releasing it into the sky.

I like the second part.
There was a story of people in russia who came completely healed out of all diseases (including stuff like Parkinson's, addictions, etc) and miseries after visiting certain southern monastery for 40 days.
So one researcher visited this place with 2 friends to find out what do they do to make people heal.
The only thing that was done is for 40 days people were required to maintain their posture straight and smile. Smile all the time. If person did not smile - he was sent long way to bring heavy load of water. If he returned back without smile - he was required to go back for the water again. 2 weeks was enough for all to smile consistently.
After 40 days of consistent practice - people were losing their crappy health conditions for good.
Everyone became super healthy and happy.

The whole self-help system was born out of that simple technique.

Tip Re: Mind Tricks

Hello Omari Taylor Here,

Well my trick is pretty simple and if you don't have the movie I'm speaking about you should get it.

What I do is every time I feel like something is bothering me that I can't shake, I watch the movie "The Secret." I have probably seen that movie almost 100 times now but I never get tired of it. It always gets me re-focused and motivated. Try it next time your in a bad mode. Hope it helps. Best wishes.

Yes, it easy to lose focus in this day and age, so we have to keep our mnd focus on the prize/reward. If we focus on the negative, the negative will take over and become our life. I've been thinking about watching that movie "The Secret."

Great technique, and there is an even easier way...

Simply realise that all thoughts are fantasies (yes even so called positive thoughts), stay unattached from them, and just let them go.

Thoughts and mind move you away from now, there is only now, and now is where you will find happiness and calm.

As for the secret, a load of hooey! Don't bother.

Hi Guys,

when I am having a tough time, with my business (most of the time) and personal life (rarely), I either go and work it off in the gym and basically forget all that I was doing and concentrate on something completely away from IM.

I also used the trusted technique of reading my goals, that are written down next to my PC and repaeat them over and over, in my head of course. You must have some goals, if you haven't get them done, set out some short term , medium term and long term (stretch goals) for yourself and your family.

It works for me anyways

The mind is a powerful tool indeed. The wonders it can do to us by just visualizing something.

Have a positive mindset at all times is very important to our success in whatever we do.

Ever wonder how heavy your head feels when your stuck with something negative or something that tickkd you off? How your brain stops to work and you just feel like crap? It's a sickening feeling, and thats what negativity does to you.

I totally agree with MemberWing's story. A smile can really work wonders and totally change us, mentally, physically and emotionally. And it isn't hard, you just have to move a few face muscles.

My technique
Close your eyes, visualize the thoughts in your mind to be like water, let all of it flow away, leaving your mind empty. Then slowly fill it up again with thoughts that you want to be there. The results are instantaneous for me, i feel more focused, and lighter

As far as physiology, the academics are starting to discover that just 20 minutes of exercise will help reduce stress and 'clear your head.' They have more scientific explanations for it (of course) but that's the gist.

Try this....
Conciously catch yourself with a bad thought.... Say in your mind 'stop' then take a deep breath, then think of a good thought and to finish off, praise yourself for doing this. After a while you will find that you are more in control with your thoughts.

Charles

Successful people do the boring stuff without thinking making it into a habit.
