Hi CyberAngel,

The following will definitely help you out:

-Stephanie Winston - Getting Organized
-Getting Yourself Organized - Richard Flint
-Lucy Hedrick - Five Days To An Organized Life
-Joyce Anderson - Help, I'm Knee-deep in Clutter!: Conquer the Chaos And Get Organized Once And for All
-Janet Bigham Bernstel - 10 Minute Guide to Getting Organized

But in my opinion "David Allen - Getting Things Done" is the best system to really get things done and to get organized.

His system helped me getting things done "Fast"! seriously!

Good luck in getting organized.

For physical organization, try Organizing from the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern
For mental / productivity, try ZTD from zenhabits.net - a simplified, modified version of GTD.
Enjoy!

Hello cyber angel

The greatest advise that i have ever received to help me get the most done in a day with the least amount of resistance was from an individual named Eban Pagen, and what he said was actually quite simple.

You should stop thinking about trying to manage your time because managing your time is just impossible unless you somehow have found yourself in possession of the dalorian.
Better yet try managing yourself!
Right down all of the things that you need to get done durring the week.
then go through those and find the ones that are most vital to your success.

eg. spending an hour to study your training materials.
Spend an hour posting in forums, writing 3 articles a night, creating one or two auto responder messages a day, ect...

Then save the simple things like checking your emails, and surfing the web for when your finished with those projects. By sorting out the most important tasks to do first and setting yourself time frames to complete those taks you will find yourself making larger and larger strides to success.

on top of that when you are in the middle of your tasks be sure to be as efficient as possible. egx. if your spending an hour posting in forums..

Open all of the forums you are apart of and go through one forum at a time to find psots you would like to write to, then when you create a really good response you can actully use that message to create a new thread in one of your other forums.

This will chelp to cut down on wasted time sorting through thousands of psots in multiple forums..

Also remember to constantly recomfirm why it is your doing this. if your not feeling like doing anything then the time you spend on your projects wont be very productive! your mental state is a HUGE part of your success.

Best of luck to everyone in 2009,
Phillip R Olsson

Most people are out there asking how many people can i get into my business, When what they should be asking is how many people can i help with my business.
Success is a state of mind.... Whats your mindset?

Hello Philip,

This is a great tip. Deciding wich tasks are the most important for my success, make them first, and then the others. I apply this week, and will see what happens.

Iīve heard about Eben Paganīs program "attitud", lots of raven reviews, but quite expensive.

Did you buy his program?

He is the famous David D Angelo from doubleyourdating.com, by the way, I bought his outstanding ebook and make a huge improvement approaching girls, and actually my girlfriend is the result of applying his teachings.

Thanks mate,

Personally, the concept of GTD is so simple and profound. There are many people put up their comments, tips, and summary about how to apply the GTD in their lives.

You many check out this blog.
zenhabits.net/2007/02/beginners-guide-to-gtd/

And you can use this Free online tool - Remember The Milk which is highly recommended by those people who is practicing GTD. I have used it for almost 1 year now. I love this tool.
rememberthemilk.com

If you have a bit extra money to spend, I also highly recommend Eben Pagan's Wake Up Productive. I personal took this training; and I would say my productivity increased over 100%. This course worth every penny I pay.

To be productive, Eben Pagan taught us the fundamental human psychology about WHY we are wired to be UNPRODUCTIVE from the social environment and from different parts of our brain. And to be productive once for all, we need to identify these areas. They are both from internal and external.

Go to his web site to check to out, and he gave out a Free training from one of his original Wake Up Productive series.
wakeupproductive.com

I think you will learn quite a lots of inspiration about being productive for yourself.

Cheers
Frank

Hi CyberAngel

Getting organised is such an important skill to develop. It seems like you may be having trouble ordering some of the resources recommended on here, so I thought I'd share the system that works for me.

I have an A4 page a day diary that is my lifeline. I've tried online tools to stay organised but for some reason, nothing works as well as the paper diary for me. Maybe I like physically writing a big tick next to my completed tasks?

In my diary I have two lists each day - one with Daily Actions, one with Other Actions. So, for example, my daily action list includes writing articles, checking analytics for my sites, adding messages to autoresponder campaigns, etc. And then other actions is where I write things that need doing that day but not every day - today, for example, I had to post a birthday card to one of my best customers.

Whenever an 'other action' item appears (the birthday card has been written on today's page for months, ever since the customer mentioned when her birthday was to me over the phone), I write it straight in the appropriate page.

And before I go to bed each night, I make sure I have both lists fully written out for the next day. Then when I start work, I know exactly what needs doing. I tick items off as I do them, and I write each day's analytics results on the page they relate to so I can refer back and see how patterns of activity have affected my website stats.

So that is my basic system.

Since I'm a full-time network marketer, I make sure that my actions are focused on one of 4 areas:
1. Generating prospects
2. Following up with prospects
3. Enrolling prospects as customers or team members
4. Training team members

If something doesn't fit into one of those categories, it doesn't get done in my prime working hours (the birthday card, for example, was posted in my lunch break when I walk the dog anyway... it didn't take me away from more important tasks).

As you're an internet marketer, your core actions will probably be focused differently to mine, but there are still just a few things you need to be focusing on - Eben Pagan advises that the time breakdown should be something like 60% marketing your content, 20% producing content and 20% admin, for example.

If there are things you want to research, books you want to read, CDs you want to listen to, etc... they need to be done outside your prime working hours, in my opinion. Or at the very least, only when you have finished the action items that will promote your content and produce your content.

Hope that helps

Katie

I hate organizing things until when I started affiliate marketing. Try to "list down" first what are the things need to be done first (you have list all on a paper) and put time allowance on it(put longer time allowance). Then "do" it. So why you need to put longer time allowance? Because you'll feel lazy sometimes, but try to finish it in given time. Just keep doing it then it'll become part of you.

I too hated organizing things until when I started my job at HAR. Now my first thing to do in the morning is prepare things to do list. I do nothing else till the list is complete and then after I try to stick to it.

I think before you go out and by more things (even if it's to help you get organized) is to get rid of your clutter. Go through all of your stuff and toss, donate, or sell the things that you have not had use for for over a year, and will not have use for again. In that process you will clear up more space, and you will find things that you forgot you had, things that you can use. Then, when you suff is more manageable, buy the books or necessary materials to organize.

Hi Cyber Angel:

You took a great approach to being organized by posting. Success is often not on the talent but the time management.

As you begin the journey start by implementing a couple of things. Make sure the first and last thing you do every day is positive. If the day starts out on an up note and ends the same you put yourself in a better position to have everything in between fall into place. No matter how simple and even if it is not work related make sure that you start out and end happy. This could be putting on a favorite song or watching a TV Show.

Now for the work part. Never let anything become too overwhelming. For the first week make a small list of things to accomplish:

1) I will start and end each day on a positive
2) I will start to get organized and motivated
3) I will seek ideas to help me
4) I will begin some project that can be accomplished in the short term.
5) I will begin some project that will be accomplished in the long run.
6) I will set up a schedule of at least X hours per day to give me the tools to win.
7) I will not be around negative people and thoughts.
8) I will win.

See if those basic steps help get you motivated and ready for the challenge.

You'll do fine! Good luck.

This year is my year for organising myself so I have started doing a few things. I would love to get GTD it sounds like a great book from the reviews I've read.

I use Simpleology (the free version) for goal setting
I use efficient pim software for tasks, planning 90 days ahead, bright ideas, software registrations, calendars etc
I use the Bethlehem Steel model of 5 things that you need to get done in a day, once done the next 5 and so on
and I bought Big Mike's Desktop Organiser to organise all of those lovely downloads
and bubble.us mind maps to organise the structure and progression of each website I'm making.

Now I need to go and organise my organising.

Hi Leanne,

Well once you read GTD you'll see that a lot of these programs that you've got to organize yourself might actually have the opposite effect. GTD suggests keeping a system as simple as possible - the more complex it gets, the more time you actually spend "working" the system, instead of helping yourself!

All you really need is GTD, and a free program like Remember Everything. | Evernote Corporation ... and a mindmap one also comes handy when brainstorming. If you need anything else - feel free to PM me and I'd be glad to help out as I'm on my journey of organizing and discpling myself as well.

I just did a post on organizing tasks and goals.

The thing is tasks and goals/recurring tasks that never end need to be treated differently.

I'm also a fan of GTD as a concept.

Buy a timer
spend 8-10 per week on your business
don't check your emails until you are done with your 2-4 of money making activities
Buy a 3 ring notepad, set goals and tasks and do them
treat your online business like a real business,If you don't get the work done you don't get paid.
Leverage your marketing efforts.

and much more.I have free training resources if you ever need them.

Ok wanting to become organised is generally because there is a lack of time mangagement. I once read a book by Louise Hays called Feel the Fear and do it anyway. Within this book it talks about a life grid of 9 squares. When I become scattered and all too much I get out the grid and look at where my time is most spent. Suggestions family/work/friends/health/me etc until you have the grid filled. Then look at the time attributed to each part of the grid - works a treat!

Interesting, I read a good quote from that page:

"GTD rests on the principle that a person needs to move tasks out of the mind by recording them externally. That way, the mind is freed from the job of remembering everything that needs to be done, and can concentrate on actually performing those tasks. By thus relying on external memories, GTD can be seen as an application of the scientific theories of distributed cognition or the extended mind."

It mentioned distributed cognition, something I've studied in class before, very fascinating stuff. In this case your brain's workload is distributed into your goals lists, to-do lists, and so on...which means you can "store" more information with less taxation on your mind power, attention, or concentration. It sounds so simple, but for many people writing goals and lists can be a chore.

I do the same but I have my to do list from the day before and I mark the most important tasks to the least important A,B,C for example. I am ready at 9 in the morning to check emails read up on offers, sign in to twitter etc. Then at 10 I set my timer (on my mobile phone) for an hour and I focus with no distractions. That is mobile off, email alert off and no toilet break. I have to be strict with myself. After the hour I mark down what have done and how long it took. I do this for 4 hours then i take a break, lunch and go out for a couple of hours. Then i do maybe 3 or 4 in the afternoon/evening. You will find that you do so much more and you begin to enjoy it because you are achieving more.

Tell me what you think

To me simplification and organization go together. I find it very easy to load my plate with a lot of unimportant stuff. As soon as I do that organization tends to go out the window. Mark Joyner's Simpleology worked for me because it made me list my key targets/goals in life and then create mini plans that "straight line" what I need to do. He also has a daily routine where you list the things you need to do which you then go on to "do it", "delegate it", "dump it" or put it in your "mental lock box". Try it out, the 101 course is free.

Toodeldo.com is a great task organizer and has a very cool firefox plugin that allows you to add new tasks that work EVEN if you clear your cookies.

Lots of customization and the free version is really all you need.
