I make it a point to say I am thankful as the day begins.
When you have a thankful attitude it somehow drains and melts away stresses. |

Saying "Thank You" is an effective way of networking. Anyone who wants to boost their business, read some books on Communication Skills, you'll find way more info than what a self-proclaimed Guru can ever teach you.
Thanks for the post! |

It can depend on the culture.
English speaking countries tend to use "Thank You" frequently. I live in the UK, and have a house in Spain. I don't speak too much Spanish, but in Spain, "thank you" and its derivatives are used much less frequently than are used in the English language. That is not to say that people in Spain are impolite - far from it - it's just that the words, phrase, or whatever, are used less frequently. I've noticed this in other countries in main land Europe too - there are different variations of when and where to use the words "please" and "thank you". Of course, if you visit the "tourist" areas of Europe, then expect the Anglo Saxon version of the "please and thank you" as has been discussed throughout the thread - and spoken in English too - a second language to main land Europeans. Regards, Jeff Henshaw. |

Apart from the fact it is very good manners to say Thank you! My mother said it was like saying Amen at the end of an exchange. Maybe it is!

Something I also do is say "thank you" to myself, well the unconscious part of me. I do this at times like when I'm able to resist that doughnut without too much conscious effort, or when I'm trying to think of an answer to something without success, and then it comes to me later out of the blue, or when I suddenly remember that I need to do something that I had forgotten to put on my todo list.
I'm reasonably convinced that my unconcious appreciates it :-) Andy |

The words "Thank You", when said with sincerity, uplift both the parties involved.

The reason is that the mindset that the phrase comes from is one of being open and accepting to things coming into your life.
Watch to see how often you tend to be closed off unless someone does something for you (we just do this by habit), and that "closing off" is what you're doing (subconsciously - not on purpose) to close YOU off to a stronger flow of goodness, however it shows up. "Thank you" is also a positive affirmation of self-worth, which is immensely needed in an environment where we're socially trained to constantly berate ourselves and not only think, but take way too seriously, that we're not worthy of much and we have to prove it by gaining external wealth, fame, fortune, etc. |

I've begun to keep a gratitude
journal. At the very moment I sink into the thoughts that life has let me down...I pick up that journal and realize how good I have it. I believe that being thankful for what you already have is the key to getting more of what you want. |

It is one of those "magic words" they teach us as children. Then many of us grow up and forget the wonderful doors that a simple "Thank You" will open for us. How many missed opportunities will it take before we realize the power of thanking people?
I see the difference now that I've started Thanking people again. When people know that their actions are appreciated, they are motivated to do more for us. Thank You for the thought provoking post. A reminder like this certainly helps. Jay WebSupportTeam.com Tech Help For Your Internet Business |

saying "thank you" now a days has lost its true meaning. But for some these words are heartfelt and treasured. Words that should only be used if you really meant it.

I will start by thanking you for a nice post. I fully agree that thank you is a powerful word which is likely to lead to further kindness or support from the person thanked. If we agree with that, let us take the argument a step further. What if were to thank the being (whatever you believe that is) that gave us everything we have, won't he be pleased and more kind to us?

Saying thank you for the sake of saying it is not as powerful as saying it from your heart

One of the basic tenets of human behavior that was ingrained into me and those of my generation was the very basic concept of saying "THANK YOU"
Unfortunately, humankind seems to have evolved into a generation of entitlement.. The quicker we return to the basics of civility such as "please and thank you" society as a whole will be better served. Just my thougts..and no I am not a curmudgeon just a different generation |

I agree with Josh T. I hate it when someone tells me "No Problem" in place of "Thank You". In my opinion, a gratious Thank You carries much more weight than Gold. I live by this and this has made a huge difference at work and in my personal life. In todays society you just do not hear the words Thank You enough, so when folks do hear it from you they are much more appreciative and receptive to you. This was a great post! Thank you!
