Default What's Holding You Back?

I am currently at my first internet marketing seminar.

ALL of the speakers have one common piece of advice: the sooner you take action, the sooner you will become successful.

You, nor your product, will ever be perfect. As long as you take some form of action to get your closer to your goals, you are on your way to becoming successful.

So I ask you...

What's holding you back from taking the necessary actions to becoming successful?

Hey Maverikwec,

I learned at an early age that a scenario never has to be just right, and all the planning in the world can not replace taking action.

Once I do my homework, I dive in. I am going to learn one way or another! What to do or another way to do it, or how not to do it.

I can remember once when I had a crush on a girl but was too shy to ask her to dance. I told my friend to go tell her I had a crush on her and I wanted the next dance.

I turned my back so I did not look too anxious, then the DJ played my favorite song!

I was In! I was ready to take action!

I took a deep breath with full determination and .......

Saw my friend dancing with my dream girl!

sigh....so ever since then, I take action alright.

Because sometimes, when you snooze , you lose!

My biggest downfall is my inability to allocate a certain amount of time to certain things. Without any structure to what you do you are invariably less efficient than those with a clear plan of action.

That's one of my problems my other one is that apprehension that I won't do it just right. I'm not sure if that's fear of success of fear of failure or an equal dose of both. I'm about to put together a new site and everything is ready to put the plan into action short of actually doing it. I've designed beautiful web sites that have gone nowhere so this time I need to worry less about beauty and more about effectiveness and I'm just plain stuck. I'm finding every excuse imagiinable to keep putting it off. HELP!!!!

Ha that's right Tom,

Live and learn, sometimes the first to fail is the first to succeed.

I remember when I was in college there was a guy I saw selling used overcoats once in the restroom of the student activity center! Now that is hustling!

Some felt sorry for him.

That same guy is rich now. True Story.

Sometime "Ready, Fire, Aim" makes more sense than "Ready, Aim, Fire". Any decision is often better than no decision at all because it gets you in motion. Inertia is more deadly than the wrong direction.

That reminds me of the quote (sorry, if I butcher it), "More comes out of a bad decision than indecision." Get Ready, then Fire. You don't have to be perfect first. Just make a decision. We learn from our mistakes. And how do YOU know it is a mistake in the first place?

We encourage our clients to start with a solid foundation -- the right market and a product that solves a problem they genuinely have.

As long as you put the time into THAT, you can get off to a running start with your site and your strategies.

But priorities are still huge as far as success goes:

With your website? Don't build some "beautiful" flash behemoth... write solid copy and keep it simple.

With your SEO? Don't rush into every strategy (black hat or otherwise) possible. Find the right keywords, put them in the right places, and provide value and content for the search engines... then you get rankings that last.

With your PPC? Don't pump tons of cash into getting reams of untargeted traffic. Target well, and test and track like crazy to see if your efforts are paying off.

With communities? Show up and get into the conversation and exchange of ideas. It might take longer than tossing up links and signing off, but you will learn and gain the RIGHT kind of attention.

What is holding people back most of all is their tendency to spend time and money on "get rich quick" strategies and ideas... and then being derailed when those strategies just. don't. work.

Put the work in. Don't expect MASSIVE, INSTANT results or perfection. Expect it to take some time.

And then expect the best.

Spending to much time reading my emails...trying to get it right the first time...deciding whether to control it all or trust someone to outsource tasks to. Just me.

most of the time it is procrastinating, I lose focus at times with my work.. usually i eat and watch tv instead of working, so i end up finishing my work very late with a lot of cramming.

Hi maverickwec,

The sooner we start, the sooner we can be successful is definitely true. I believe most people are held back by inaction and fear. We need to overcome our fear and step into the area of uncertainty and learn to be comfortable in it. Those are the areas where we will find the best opportunities around.

Cheers
