Default Which Psycho-Cybernetics edition is best to get?

Hello everyone,

I've heard many good reviews about "Psycho-Cybernetics" by Maxwell Maltz, and I've also heard good reviews on the rewrite by Dan Kennedy (not so much for the one by Bobbe Sommer).

My question is, which one would be the most useful one to get, since I have never read "Psycho-Cybernetics"? Would you recommend I read both the original and Kennedy's rewrite, the original alone, Kennedy's rewrite alone, or would you suggest I do read Sommer (a few reviews I read say that she doesn't really offer anything new and is often quoting Maltz)?

I'd greatly appreciate any and all advice you can provide - thank you.

Please take care and have a great day!

Joe Chengery III

I like the original better than the Kennedy version.

Big DK fan but his Psycho-Cybernetics just doesn't read as well as the original.

Thought About Offline Consulting?
Fiona - $5,500 + $600/m 1st Week... Anthony - $7k + $594/m... Liz - $12k 1st Month...
Rob - $7k + $800/ 1st Month... Scott - $45,000 in 3m... 20/yo Jock 6-Figure Client 2nd Month
Don't you deserve the same unfair advantage?

I haven't read the DK edition but Harlan pooh-poohed it because
he made every example about golf.

I've read the Sommers edition. It's fine. There is probably
sexism buried in the criticism. She took a book written by
a male authority and rewrote it - for a portion of the male
population there is no way for that not to be an insult to
the original.

Any edition will offer lots to reflect on. Psycho-Cybernetics
is really good stuff... and it's very common-sense too.

"Zero Resistance Selling" is very good too if you have a need
to sell stuff.

I love the Dan Kennedy Version... the truth is, if you apply the principles it does not matter. Yes lot's of golf examples but many others too.

I'm in the middle of the Bobbe Sommer edition right now and I find it to be excellent. Clearly written, good examples, strong action points. Don't know what complaints there have been, but it's hitting me just the right way.

I would go with the original edition by Maxwell Maltz - the man is brilliant

Everything else is just someone's interpretation.

I got the original version by Maxwell Maltz after evaluating the different reviews. So far, it's one of the most helpful books I've ever read in my life and has been influential to my success.

I also vote for the original edition -- the other versions with all the added stuff by other authors just detracts from the original power of the book more often than not.

Hello everyone,

I appreciate all the feedback and opinions on "Psycho-Cybernetics" - thank you.

I'm leaning towards the original version, but I'll keep my options open on all three. Thanks again for all your feedback and opinions - thank you.

Those who wish to express more feedback and opinions, please feel free to do so - the more information I can learn, the better. :-)

Please take care, keep up the great work, and have a good day!

Sincerely,

Joe Chengery III

I sometimes judge a book by how many times I REREAD it.

I have Maltz's original and the DK re-write. I have to say I've gone over DK's more times than the original. I do appreciate the updating of examples that Dan weaves into his version.

This book was given to me by my father when i was 13. helped me to transform my social shyness, clumsy teenager self into a more confident, comfortable person in a few weeks.
Might seem like a small thing, but for a teenager, being confident, able to tell jokes and be the life of the party for a small group of kids made all the difference in the world to me at the time.
thanks for the reminder- I can probably use a refresher on this, use it to brush up some of my problem areas and improve.

Another vote for the original. I'm not a very big fan of "updates", unless it comes in the form of sidebar notes alongside the original text. I found that some of the updated paragraphs stuck out too much and interrupted the flow of the book, and the rest of the time my mind kept trying to figure out what was original text and what had been updated. For me, that's distracting

It's a no brainer the original version is what you want....in fact it is one of the few books that I keep in my mental when I am on the success path.

Read the original, and buy it from Melvin Powers at Wilshire Books.

Do yourself a favor and read some of Melvin's mail order books. They'll give you a whole new perspective on persistence and trying a lot of things in order to succeed.
