make up your mind what it is you DO - and then discipline
yourself to do it every day. For me it is writing, for you
it may be something else.

What I find is that my writing-brain usually just turns-on
now because I have trained it to do so when I sit down
to write. Writer's block is not a problem.

Make the most out of the time when you feel you are the most productive. When do you think most clearly? When is it easy for you to push yourself and get work done?

For me, it tends to be really late at night/early morning but it will definitely differ for you which is why you need to test for yourself.

weird as it sounds, the best thing I ever did was mount a 3'x4' whiteboard on my wall. when a random (but important) thought flutters into my head (people to call, cool new ideas, tasks for the day), I put it up there, and get back to it.

Sounds odd, but I don't know how I got along without it.

Maybe it's rooted in my desire to be like Dr. House.

I go with David with the whiteboard option. My first attempt at using it was not a great success however as what I thought was a suitable pen turned out to be a permanent maker !!
So my first white board turned out a murky grey/black with various solvents ruining it.
Goals for the day on there followed by discipline and application will soon find you in a systematic approach to completing tasks at hand.

Write you goals for the following day on there before retiring and just briefly think about them before closing the peepers will help the subconscious mind do its job !

1. start the day moving, following a cheesy tony robins method: get out of bed, stretch, breathe, walk, focus on what I'm grateful for, start running/walking faster while repeating some mantra- usually something I need to work on for the day.
2. Follow Dave Allen's getting things done methodology, focus on 1 thing at a time, keep lists, plug along the lists.

make a list of the things that you what you want to ACCOMPLISH and write them down on paper BEFORE you pick up the mouse. in this way you are less likely to get waylaid an veer off into activities that do not related to your goal. cross off the list competed tasks and whatever does not get done make that first on the next list. do this every day

A few tips for fellow Warriors ...

1. Focus on dollar productive activity only. Do a time audit - know what each hour is earning you and delegate anything that isn't productive.

2. Reduce the amount of reactive time in your day. Interruptions are like a silent thief.

3. Spend an increasing amount of time working to your strengths. This is particularly difficult as it requires you to get honest with yourself and explore what you are truly good at.

4. Reduce the amount of repetitive work you do in your business. Systematize and delegate.

Hop outta bed the second the alarm goes off... no snoozing. Then, make coffee, then tackle the one thing that I listed as a "must do FIRST thing in the morning" before I went to bed.

I think like some others have said, having segments of time working and then sometime off. eg, work 1 hour then have a break. In each segment have something that you want completed.

Hey, Vince.
Great Post!

My Productivity Tip:

Your Work Time Must Be Divided in to 4 "Pillars"

1. Customer Pillar. Leads and Traffic. You should spend 40 % of your time driving traffic and generating leads for your business.

2. Conversion Pillar. Driving traffic with no conversion will not do your business any good, my friends. 20% of your work time should be spent working on your capture pages, sales letters, conversions and testing your conversion rates.

3. Product Pillar. 10% of your work time be spent on your Product, Services and Information concerning those 2.

4. Management Pillar. There are 3 types of management you should focus on:

1. Time Management
2. People's Management
3. Business Management
4. For some of you- Anger Management =) Just Kidding!

I like the idea of working for 2 hours and then resting for 2, I should try this. I get burned out sometimes because I will work for 9 hours straight and then can't look at a computer for a day!

My tip would be to work on one project at a time, finish it, make sure it is the best it can be and you do not need to go back and mess with it. Then move onto the next project.

I also keep a notepad to write down random ideas so I can come back to them later.

For me it would be creating a daily to-do list, and then crossing things off as I complete them. This tends to keep me focused and it is motivating to see things actually being accomplished throughout the day.

I agree with the daily list. Write down all the to-do's that pop into your mind. Then choose the two or three that are the most important and set to work on the most important first, next most important second, etc

I also agree that the absolute best benefit occurs when you can make the list some hours ahead of the work time. Like when I was in a day-job crunch and my goal was simply to limit my day-job to 40 hours to continue having time for family and internet marketing, I would get up early, write the list, prioritize the list and then as I showered and drove to work, visualize myself getting those tasks done. It definitely works.

When I'm in a lull, and not as driven, I often have a contest with someone else trying to boost their productivity and we'll score % of to-do's that we accomplished each day. Mostly just good-natured ribbing, BUT.... I have to say.. I have often made a point of doing one more task, just to have the winning score.

The truth is, we both win, simply by keeping score and motivating each other.

FOLLOWING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

This includes:

- Adequate sleep and proper timing
- Follow a healthy-diet pie chart (40% carbs, 40% fruits/veges, 10% meat, 5% dairy, 5% sugary)
- Exercise Exercise Exercise
- Feed your biological desires = GF/BF/wife/husband

1) Why is exercise important?
- This increases your heart rate over time. When you have a good heart rate, different vitamins and minerals will reach to your brain better and spread them properly. A healthy brain leads to smartness, directly or indirectly, but it "leads" nonetheless. (Reflex and memory)

2) Why is sleep important?
- Sleep helps store memories, analyze memories, #%(@*&#^*!$... I can go on and on but one of the greatest benefits are the boosts in creativity.

3) Why is GF/BF/wife/husband important?
- The make babies to outsource to in the future.

Good luck

Something I've learned recently. Don't get distracted by anything. Have a task that needs accomplishing and do it without checking email, stats, how much I made off of a certain products. Etc.

For me, I find myself not as productive as before... probably because I loss track of everything... Here is what I do:

1.Write down the list of things or tasks you need to accomplish
2.The list does not have to be from "the most important" to "the average."
3.What ever comes up in your mind, which needs to be done - just write it down.
4.After that, find out which one is the most IMPORTANT and needs to get done right away.
5.Then find the next four.
6.Get started to work.
7.Cross out the ones which you've completed
This method always works for me. If there's other thing comes up, add that to the list.
8.You may want to re-write the list once a week to see your progress.

Off the topic a little bit... Yes, why did I say "write down" and "re-write"? It's a modern world, why not "type" or "save" the tasks in a palm, iPhone, or any electronic devices? Ha... you may loss everything - email, contacts, to-do-list, appointments, etc. at anytime. and yes, someone will say they are backing up everyday. and sure, the backup and the originals can be disappeared at the same time - it happened to my boss before. That's why I am carrying a notebook, not an electronic notebook, it is a five-subject notebook all the time.

I am not a very old dude who doesn't take advanced technology. I love new phones, new laptops, HDTV, LEDTV... but somehow, you can't take "technology" too seriously... they are not as "reliable" as you think...

Make a plan of action, and do everything in your power to stick to it. Also, make sure that you work before you play; it's never a good idea to do the opposite because it’s very easy to get side tracked and distracted.

Number one on your list for increasing your productivity is to make a commitment to your goal. Commitment is not just a promise, it's like wanting to hold on to an energy level that motivates you to never settle for less than the best that you can do to accomplish the task at hand.

Picturing the real impact of the level of your commitment helps when you use your mind to create an image that adds zeal and steadfastness. For example, think of yourself going treasure diving and all the fun that can be, until you get your foot caught on a chain on the bottom and can't break free.

Then just moments before you are nearly out of oxygen you start feeling your foot working itself free from what is binding you to the bottom of the ocean.

Imagine the feeling of your lungs as they are nearly bursting and your state of mind realizing that oxygen is the most important thing you need at that moment. And how that overpowering feeling drives you to keep pulling and scratching at any rock or junk that is holding you down.

Find a way to motivate yourself to that level of commitment to breathing life into your production goals. Experience small, step by step successes at managing yourself to that level and you can consider your goals as done almost as soon as you've written them down on your to-do list.

Multiple monitors.

When I went to two monitors, it was like enlightenment. I quickly moved to three and I am now hankering after a fourth, but I need a bigger desk..

Make a list and STICK TO IT!

At the end of every day I make a hit list, number them in order of importance, and then when I wake up in the morning, follow it. Keeping yourself organized and motivated will definitely increase your productivity.

Self mastery is what I suggest. Its easy to write out goals.

We all know what we must do to reach our goals.

But can we hold ourselves accountable to DO what we need too?

Please read the sig file rules

Continually ask yourself "Is this a productive use of my time?"
closely followed by "Is this moving me closer to my goal or farther away?"

I agree with bbells, stick to the list. I also prioritise the list and have no more than 4 actionable tasks per day. Stops me from over-committing and being unrealistic with tasks, plus forces me to focus on the most important tasks each day.

Haha- agreed. I am most productive in the middle of the night when all the world is quiet. Too much outside noise distracts me from listening to my inner voice.

Productivity comes from researching and analysing the situation and demands , you need to research what type of market is going on , then create the niche according to fulfill it , generally boost profits and sales.
Thus productivity links to - research- analysis-focusing on goal and then working to achieve it.

If you're having trouble staying on task, motivation etc.

Treat it like a real job, Get up in the morning.. have breakfast, shower, get changed.. start work. Even if it's at home. I don't know..

And a separate room for working is good IMO, not in your bedroom where you have whatever to distract you.. you're working

- No interuptions
- Do the easy things first, that's right - first.......most people would tell you to get the more difficult things out the way first
- When your mind starts wandering have a 5 minute break away from what you're doing
- Do things one at a time, step by step, in a logical order
- If you think of something else you need to do, write it down so you don't keep thinking about it while you're concentrating on your current activity

Interruptions cause us to be distracted in work and make it hard for us to stay focus. I believe eliminating it will help us to be much more productive.
