Personally I have no love for the man and I never finished Rich Dad Poor Dad in it's entirety because I couldn't get past the fact that he was spewing so much garbage. I got about 60-70% of the way in and just stuck it away somewhere.

As long as people can separate the motivational aspects of the books from the business advice, they should be fine. A lot of people may confuse the two though, and some of the advice given in those books has the potential to cause serious trouble.

Personally, I'd rather just read something by someone credible that doesn't exaggerate and falsify things in a book that exists in a non-fiction genre.

As for the Rich Dad Advisor series, I can't comment. Being that they're written by other authors, they could very well be full of excellent advice.

I looked at the link you provided and have read all of Robert Kiyosaki's books. What you provided in your link is hogwash and for anyone who read Robert's books will immediately know it is.

You come on here and spout about knowing Robert Kiyosaki is a fraud yet you yourself admit you haven't even finished one of his books.

You are seriously unimformed buddy.

Pretty sad.

I'm actually half way through it, I've wanted to finish the book, but I haven’t been able to stop working. From what I have read, I am very impressed. It has opened my eyes and changed my way of thinking about financial intelligence.

I agree 100%!

Extremely inspiring and motivating. It changed peoples' life's, even life's of people in this thread, me included.

Is he credible or not? Who cares, that's not the question here. He's not the subject here, it's his book, isn't it.

Awesome book the get people started and pointing them in the right direction.

Why on earth would I have had to finish his book to know he has no credibility?
If a 5 year old wrote a book on advanced physics would I need to read the whole book to know he wasn't a credible expert?

What you've said makes no sense.

Something tells me you didn't actually read the page.

Tell me, if what's on the site is hogwash, how do you explain the referenced links to Smart Money, newspapers, television networks, etc, all of which did their background research on Kiyosaki and found that he's simply not who he claims to be and that much of his RDPD is falsified?

Did these established and credible sources just make this stuff up? Or did Kiyosaki?

And if the page is hogwash, how do you explain the sets of tables where the author of the page takes advice Kiyosaki gives in the book with referenced page numbers, and then explains clearly how its either wrong, illegal, or contradicting something else Kiyosaki has also said in the book?

BTW,
Here is a page defending RDPD, with a published reply right from the pen of Kiyosaki himself in response to the Reed website I posted.
http://www.mastermindforum.com/kiyos...onsetoreed.htm

Note that Kiyosaki in no way tries to dispute any of the real issues, like giving illegal and dangerous advice.

Also note that in his reply, which was apparently written in 2000, Kiyosaki clearly states RDPD is a true story and rich dad was real, something we now know to be untrue.

So even in his rebuttal, he's caught lying to the very people that worship him.

How anyone can trust this guy is beyond me.

Limited from many resources, I started to make money online.

Totally a VERY inspiring book. Especially about his comic book idea. ;-)
Same here.

I was good at work, climbing up the corporate ladder. Nice salary, nice prospects - but it always bugged me that i could easily calculate how much money I'm going to make until I retire at old age. Comfy, but not too much, that is.

Then I read RDPD. Wow! - Exactly the kick in the butt I needed. This got me to start working online - 1st part time, then full time.

No JOB for me now, and I earn about 4 times what I did before.

It doesn't matter that he did MLM and real estate. It's not about "how to make money" - it's about "Go out there and make money". Without that kick in the butt - would have stayed in mediocrity.

I owe Kiyosaki - big time.

The Poor Dad is the more inspiring because they are more eager to have a stable job for their family rather than Rich Dad. It is because some of them are very dependable on their businesses and don't even think about their future.

However, you should not take everything for granted from that book. There is some bad advice, and errors as well. Keep in mind that author got rich by selling his books on how to get rich - not by investing or doing other business. It's also proven that the "Rich Dad" is a fictional and not real character. It's most probably a combination of a couple of people that have influenced the author, some of them are people he met, some he read their books.

Overall, definitely worth reading. For things like investing, real estate - find another book.

I totally undertand your statement reynald, especially since I see you are coming from the Phillipines with so many hard working people, and most have been taught to have humble life and take care of family first.

But, the concept of Rich Dad is also wonderful...it is a concept that explains how one can create jobs for the many, multilple familys benefit from the entreprenuer. Some people are not willing to take the risk, so the one who is willing to take the risk will also enjoy the rewards.

The abundance concept is not out of greed at all.

RDPD is a great read. All of the Rich Dad series are very helpful. It's funny how people try to defraud him or discredit him. He has educated alot of people.

He can be seen as a guest on "The Millionaire Inside" on CNBC. He has been on multiple episodes. You can see his advice for yourself, on the CNBC website.

As for the orginal question that started this thread - Inspiring? - I say YES...

I read a few of his books, they were great. But there are many people critizing him saying his a liar and stuff and he has no proof of what he has and some guy did research and found out that his rich dad actually never existed and blah blah. I think some of these people take him to serious. His philosophies and teachings are ment to be taken away not the fact that he had two dads. =]

But yes very inspiring !

@Andy Henry, the main message of the book sounds too simple to you. But it's not. Simply because the way they were educated all their lives, the way their parents and their parents used to live all the lives etc. Thinking that having a job is more secure than having a business is something that people use all their lives. They either take it for granted or think about it, but still don't realize how un true that is. Because that kind of thinking has shaped a lot of aspects in their lives, and in the lives of almost EVERYBODY they know.
It can be as hard as explaining colors to a blind man.

That's a very strong bond, that is hard to overcome at times.

Well, some people do that for a reason, and that should be respected. They try to protect people from some bad advice.

Overall, the book is very inspiring, but you need to understand why people critique it as well.

Also, to add to that, the book actually "inspired" some kids to quit school, because "you don't learn about the money in the school". Which is definitely not a smart idea.

The bottom line is that this book kicks ass.

Learned a lot of great principles and insights in it. Highly recommended.
I have read some others from Roberts series but they didn't even come
close IMO to matching the goodness of this one.

Although it contained a lot of new ideas and inspiring principles to start with new motivation. But till the point you really take action and evaluate the performance in the light of the newly learnt rules.

I am self-employed. And I used to be so proud of my independence but then I read one of the author's other books and realized that being self-employed is just another kind of trap. I get paid by the hour so I earn only as much as I work, I can't go on holiday, can't be sick and there is no hope for more money because a day is only 24 hours, no matter what.

That book is where I got the idea that I should have a business where I don't have to be present for it to earn money for me.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a great book. Cashflow Quadrant is perhaps even better.

That's not true at all. He built a successful "velcro keyholder" business. Yes, that business later failed (and the lessons why are still valuable) but he went on to become very successful as a Real Estate Investor. He and his wife actually retired off of their Real Estate Assets before he even wrote the book. Now, if you think he's lying - that's another story. If that's the case, then that's what you should say "I don't think he ever had any real success before the book. I think he's a liar."

Personally, I think he's the real deal.

I read his book many years ago and that started my wealth creation journey

I have been involved in various types of investments and trading programs. In the end, I found that in order to really succeed you need to change your mindset.IN order to change your physical world, you must first change your mental space.Bob Proctor, a well known teacher in this field (he was featured in the movie "The Secret" teaches that there is a definite Science to getting rich-a "formula" used by all the successful and rich people throughout the generations.

Recently, I bought his Science of Getting Rich Program-this is really inspiring. If you want to change your life, first change your thinking

Having a wealthy mindset can make you rich:

I read it when I was 21 and I thought it was a great read ... The concepts presented in the book were not really new to me, since my dad is a (rather successful) businessman and I was brought up in the spirit of this book, but it is still nice to have this great financial mindset presented in an organized form, in a book.

As far as issues with Robert Kiyosaki as a person go, I prefer to keep my lips sealed, because I don't know enough about him ... but the book is a good kick-in-the-ass when you need it, and that's what counts.

It is a very well written book with a good purpose and format. I would recommend it for a casual/enjoyable read but definitely not for a ground breaking experience. In my opinion, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, is one of the best books ever written.

Read this while I was in high school. Although it can be argued that the advice he gives about real estate and investing is questionable, it really gives out some important concepts to keep in mind.

And I really do feel that he shows you the mindset of someone who knows how to become wealthy. One of the most important things I learned from it is that you want multiple sources of income, and you want them to be as passive as possible. You can't just rely on a going to college and getting a job, or else you'll never achieve the same level of wealth as millionaires out there.

Never really saw the greatness in him as most people give him credit for. I know he created a book on how to run a successful network marketing/MLM business, even though he never ran one himself (he admits it in his book).

He touts himself an expert on it because he went to a lot of opportunity meetings and believes he has the credibility to write a book to teach these people how to do it.

It's like me going writing a book on how to run a successful McDonald's franchise because I've been going there since my childhood. Heck, you can say I have over 20 years of the McD biz...

I lost respect for him.

It is a truely inspiring book about a man who came out on his own to become something. Recently, I have started reading only motivation books like these that help me work harder and better and be the best that one can be.

think long and hard about what my

I'm not who I thought I was and my

I think it is a little over rated, I recommend everyone read it and absorb the Rich Dad Poor Dad series is a excellent series on becoming a good investor and teaches you the quadrant. If you can go to a rich dad poor dad free event go for it .

I was in my teens when I heard about this book - when it was first released. Honestly, I didn't read it completely. Just skimmed through it and went with the summary ("Cliff's Notes" version of it) It gives you a very clear idea on the idea of investing and passive income, it also introduces you to investment ideas. Truthfully, this is one of the better books around. Sure it might be overrated because of the hype surrounding it, but the hype would have died a long time ago if it was a substandard material. As to whether it is inspiring, I would say it's more of an eye opener to personal wealth management - but it will definitely change your life for the better.

Rich Dad Poor Dad was the first book that broke down walls for me. One odd thing that happened after experiencing the book is that I understood marketing better. The book is not about marketing but it helped knock down mental barricades impeding my growth.

I think I will read it again this weekend

I read this book about 6 years ago and it completely changed my out look on life. before I read the book I was a brainwashed moron thinking about going to school getting good grades and then getting a job.

well after I realized that I hated school and got very poor grades and reading the book I realized I was going to make money by starting my own businesses so it has taken my life in a completely different direction
