Today I want to cover a critically important concept that holds most internet entrepreneurs back from reaching their potential...or even worse, from even becoming successful in the first place. When meeting my students and consulting clients, this is one of first things we generally tackle, before we even talk about "business"... So now let's delve into the concept that holds many entrepreneurs back from taking their business to the next level and prevents many others from even getting started. And this is fresh in my mind because I just did a whole module about it for the upcoming project I've been talking about, so let's discuss it briefly here... The concept is discipline and it's the most fundamentally difficult component of being an entrepreneur. The rewards and pleasures of being a successful entrepreneur are incredible and it's a journey I wish on every single person. The money, the freedom, the flexibility, the feeling of accomplishment when you turn an idea or vision into a reality, these are the ecstasies of being an entrepreneur. But what most marketers out there don't tell you (and I absolutely will) are the challenges of being an Internet entrepreneur. Let me list some for you right here...
The good news is that all entrepreneurs face these challenges at some point (or many points) on their journey, so you are not alone. I'm willing to bet that the Richard Bransons of the world have all faced every one of these challenges. The other good news is that these challenges can all be overcome quite easily by doing the right exercises. And lastly, these initial challenges make the taste of victory that much better. Conquer them (and you will) and success will be the sweetest taste you'll ever experience. So let's talk straight for a moment... All of theses challenges are about discipline and discipline can be learned. With proper discipline, you will hold yourself accountable for your results. It will become habitual. Personally, I get a thrill out of holding myself accountable these days. I don't have a boss, but I still get punished...I punish myself. It may sound cheesy, but it's true. When I don't accomplish a task I was supposed to, I impose some sort of small punishment on myself so next time I think twice about not getting something done. It's the power of association. As for your friends and family who probably don't understand (and don't care to understand) your dreams and goals, having the right discipline will empower you to use this negative energy as motivation...as a positive energy. It'll become habitual that when somebody says you CAN'T do something or that you're crazy for pursuing an idea, you feel empowered to prove him or her wrong. It's tough not to have a support system as you are pursuing your entrepreneurial passion, but if you tweak your mindset to use that lack of a support system as motivational tool...it can be a powerful force in your favor. The "Lone Entrepreneur" is many times the most passionate entrepreneur...and passion is the blood of success. So these entrepreneurial challenges all boil down to discipline. In upcoming emails, I'll go into specific, easy, and actionable exercises that will help you develop more discipline...the benefits of which are immeasurable. The great news is that by virtue of reading this email and merely recognizing these challenges, you're already ahead of the game. Actively trying to overcome these challenges in your every day life will only strengthen your discipline. When great discipline becomes habitual, then you'll be an unstoppable entrepreneur. Anything you've ever wanted and dreamed of can be yours. With proper discipline you'll turn every challenge and negative force into a positive driver that has no option but to lead you to success faster and faster. The disciplined entrepreneur will see an inevitable hypergrowth in his or her business and personal life. ...and THAT'S how you live a fulfilled life. Stay true to yourself, work hard, and be disciplined. Kenster |

| Fabulous advice Kenster. Thank you. Completely agree with you on the importance of having some sort of "accountability partner" - once I got this into place, my results improved dramatically. Ken |

Yes, accountability partners are great because they UNDERSTAND and care about what you do. One of the toughest things about starting our on the internet entrepreneurship path is that your support system generally isn't there and the ones who are...generally don't even know and/or care what you want to do!

Kenster! I used to believe that these "one-man", "one-woman" successes,.....were truly admirable and demanding of respect,......and to a degree,.....I still feel the same.... However,.......in my own personal prior (ego-driven) pursuit of Success with Internet Marketing,........ I've found that many,..dare I say, most,.....of these "one-island" entrepreneur islands,......barely survive the tumultuous waves after torrential waves of hurricanes and tsunamis! I learned the hard way.....Trying and never giving up,...."on my own".....like a STUBBORN Mutha' Effer!!! DISCIPLINE is of paramount and unequaled skill in the belts of we Internet Entrepreneurs. .....with Perserverance,..a close second! Advancement,...Moving Forward,...and Increase,...."HYPERGROWTH",......All of these cannot be attained without Discipline. The key amplifier, and hardest lesson for me to learn on my journey, was that of following a MENTOR......and getting directly involved in a supportive Mastermind Group/Team, whose members are striving and working towards the same or similar goals, requiring the same, aligned mental positioning. As a "one-man island", facing and being constantly surrounded by non-supportive, misaligned, but well-meaning family members, coworkers, and friends.......that is a helluva tough daily environment to remain disciplined and hard-nosed to! (Good Lord!) Rise Above,.....Overcome,.....Do NOT Freakin' QUIT!...... Hook up with an Awesome Mentor (Thanks Kenster & Dean-O!),.....get your Azz involved in a solid Mastermind Skype of Facebook Group. Ride that Killer Wave,.......Leverage where ya can,....And Scale Up methodically.....with proven, solid direction........DISCIPLINE! Thanks for the Awesome Post, KENSTER! (As Always, Amigo!!!) The Best Is Yet to Come......... Still Kickin It Like Bruce Lee, -A.D.Christian 'thetrusted1' |

Good stuff Kenster. Im new to WF and coming from the offline world to the online world is a huge adjustment. It's like a test. A test to see if you have what it takes to make "it" happen. I love the fact this site is even called the "warrior forum". You have to see yourself as a warrior constantly leading yourself into battle. The battle of overcoming your inner doubts and fears. Being an entrepreneur is a priviledge and each day you have to hone your skills to keep moving forward. I believe leadership plays a HUGE role in your success in the online world. And feeding off people with your leadership style is contagious. Keep up the great work! Thanks bud. |

What a fantastic post Kenster. Thanks for taking the time to write all of this out. When I was younger I used to be more disciplined because I had more demands on me from work, family, friends, etc. Today the thing that works best for me is the daily to do list. If I spend a few minutes at the end of the day writing out a handful of meaningful things I want to accomplish tomorrow, I usually get most of them done. I do not even procrastinate away things I do not like to do if it is on a list staring me in the face. |

I believe and totally agree that one aspect of being disciplined person is to be accountable and responsible for everything that we are doing. It could be about work or about personal life. A person who is disciplined can handle and respond correctly and can do great things. Discipline is a step towards being successful. |

Thank you for your post. "The disciplined entrepreneur will see an inevitable hypergrowth in his or her business and personal life.". A lot of times I focus only in my job and not in my discipline and I do 1000 things but I don't finish 1. Nice post. |

Totally agree, because self discipline is a big rule to get your own business on track. You have to challenge yourself to improve your business successfully.

It reminds me of this quote: "The essence of a picture is the frame." - Similarly, the essence of a smile are the lips; of Power, learning to say "No"; and of freedom, is to discipline yourself into FOCUS en route to getting there. Thank you all for such great posts.

| Muscle Head Warrior War Room Member | Thanks Kenster Discipline is one characteristics as entrepreneurs we ll must posses! Developing discipline take practices and perseverance. I used to work as a personal trainer and the only thing that will separate people that look amazing to people that look Blah is directly related to the discipline they have. Many other factors contribute such as will power, building new habits, but the foundation to breaking into anything new is have the discipline! Discipline to not spend hours on facebook or youtube, discipline to devote your self entirely into your business! |

And great point about demands. Sometimes you can artificially put fake demands on yourself as a source of motivation. Entrepreneurs work the best when they need it the most, so pretending you need to hit a specific goal or else the world will end is a powerful motivational exercise many entrepreneurs use. Great write up, Ken. You really hit the nail on the head. When I started my offline business a year ago, this is one of the biggest challenge that I faced. It's very easy to side track especially when you feel you're all alone in this journey. I'm really grateful for the word of encouragement and knowing that I have a coach that I can look up to. Thanks again for sharing!
