Default Attraction Marketing Myth Obliterated

Hi folks,

this may be a bit of a rant, but I have a purpose - because
there is a myth around that by being perceived as friendly
or helpful or attractive you will get customers.

In my experience this is a minor part of the equation...unless
you are in the sex industry or selling at low prices.

Being attractive, good-looking, well-spoken - these are all
minor advantages in most business dealings. Anybody can
cultivate poise - and that's a good thing - but there is one
factor above all others which will persuade people to become
your loyal customers.

I made a 10 minute content video about this at

Hey man, I watched the video. I couldn't agree with you more. Everyone is doing the same thing, but what is everyone branding? Until your proven in the industry, and you are making money, there is nothing to brand. People want a proven mentor to follow, not just a nice person willing to help.

Thanks for watching. I question the whole notion of branding
as well - branding is for soap and soda. David Garfinkel referred
to branding as "B School" marketing, meaning it's an inferior model
for creating cashflow. If you read up about it you see how
empty branding can be if you want to generate income - and
people being taught to "brand" themselves is a distortion of
what real marketing is.

In the bizop sector of course the people teaching others to
"brand" themselves have a vested interest in the sheep not
questioning this advice, which is why it is given. It is far
easier to placate the hopefuls with fuzzy advice to "brand"
themselves than actually tell them the truth about branding,
that it is useless as a direct-response method unless you have
a great deal of money to spend. That money is almost always
better spent testing direct-response methods.

What it comes down to is folks should understand the roll
name-recognition can play in building online influence,
but should not expect it to do the unreasonable, sway
prospects away from a better offer.

Hi Loren,

Your video cuts to the heart of the matter and clearly describes the role that
core marketing concepts play in relationship to attraction marketing. The points
you cited were anchored in practicality and made a lot of sense to me.

Here's video number 2 where I get deeper into the topic.
I'm not wild about YouTube's hosting but it does have
advantages - actually both videos are viewable on the
same channel - in watermarked versions.
