| What makes a Leader? I am often asked this question: A Leader doesn't look at how things currently are A Leader always looks at how things can become A Leader knows time will expose you A Leader also knows time will promote you A Leader will never succeed with self doubt A Leader has complete belief in their convictions A Leader never procrastinates or is LAZY! A Leader knows nothing happens without a sense of urgency A Leader always stays consistent A Leader does not want to become non-existent A Leader doesn't ask why me? A Leader asks why not me? A Leader knows it's not the skill of the man A Leader knows it's the will of the man A Leader is never arrogant A Leader is humble and always ready to learn more! A Leader is not afraid of the future A Leader looks forward to a future full of courage A Leader understands he is not the leader of his group A Leader is a leader in his group A Leader knows when it's time to quit A Leader knows tough times don't last A Leader knows tough people do A Leader will never quit if the dream is big enough! Encouragement for the day.. Scott H |

I like 'A Leader is humble and always ready to learn more!' So true. the greatest success principle is 'Learn form the experts because you'll never live long enough to learn it on your own." A leader is also someone who influences many people. Just take a look inside of a group of people. Who is the one with whom people quickly agree? There you will find the leader. |

A great leader is a leader who cares for who ever looks up to him. Eventually teaches them to accomplish the same success. He Duplicates himself into people, so eventually when he retires, his actions still live on. |

| Hi Scott74! What a cool post you have! I think the keywords of being a leader are confidence, patience and great talent. However confident you are, you should discuss openly with your staffs to show that you welcome all their constructive ideas and they play very important role in the whole company. Thanks for sharing |

| My view on leadership revolves around building and maintaining good working relationships with staff, peers, management, and business partners. I believe by having good working relationships, it forms a solid foundation to manage, train, mentor, coach, provide direction, influence, and achieve goals and objectives. A staff member once commented to me about their leader: “I think he relates to all kinds of personalities, and for me it means wanting to do the best work you can, then keep improving on that.” A leader tends to express confidence not only in his own ability, but in the ability of his work group as well (especially their ability to develop the necessary skills to handle a new task). His “we can find a way” attitude can encourage others to make the required effort. A leader tends to lead by example. He works hard to get the job done and draws others along with him. He also bridges the gap between a new idea and its implementation by formulating the steps required to get the results. regards |

Some more leader stuff: A leader is the one who LISTENS A leader takes the LONG view, not the short one A leader veers toward the road LESS TRAVELED A leader is a CRITICAL THINKER A leader maintains an OPEN MIND A leader is the TOLERANT ONE A leader is the most EMOTIONALLY MATURE player in the group A leader isn't afraid to do the HARD DECISION-MAKING A leader is a risk-taker, a gambler, a visionary A leader refuses to accept "it can't be done" as can't isn't in their vocabulary |

A Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals. What makes leadership is the ability to get people to do what they don't want to do and like it. |

A leader is not afraid to ask questions from the member. A leader is not perfect and knows to accept his/ her mistake. |

How tall are you Scott? Just one more bit of information to throw into the pot - Most great leaders are (or were) either above average height or well below it. The above information seems to be true; the research findings are everywhere if you look in the appropriate areas of achademic study. I'm probably a bit below average height myself, so I guess that's why I was never a strong contender in the US Presidential elections. ![]() I like the post though, it reminds me of my days studying for my MBA. Warm Regards, Jeff Henshaw. |

Great Stuff Scott, I like it all, plus I would add a Leader is not afraid to delegate. A leader knows they cannot do it all. Awesome post, plus some excellent replies that we can all learn from Great food for thought. |

"Leaders know they haven't arrived until they've shown someone else by their own example how to be the best they can be" ..Leadership is a journey, not something that can be learned on a five-day training course. It requires time and reflection.. |

I thought that this was really good.. but to that as well all qualities embodied in a leader cannot be equated in a list.. there's so much more to it beyond what you see externally. Quote:
