I agree with a few people here: moderation is the key. Personally I only drink it in the mornings--that's it. I need it to wake up faster. I don't drink any after that. Later on the day is only tea, and not every day. Dagmar |

I guess if used in balanced quantity then there's no problem at all. But if the usage exceeds the normal absorption limits, it can cause health problems. I enjoy cold coffee... |

Yes as someone mentioned - MODERATION, but again every persons body is DIFFERENT, what is perfectly fine for me might be a dangerous activity for someone else. I personally experience fast heart beating when having too-much caffeine intake in my body. So I stay with 1 cup-per-day or even skip that cup if neccessary. But coffee is SO NICE, what to do...Tell me it will help my online business :-)

Good in that it helps me to wake up in the morning and begin to move some good ideas in my head. You might as well go back to sleep if there's no coffee in the morning. Bad because as soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold. |

Two cups of coffee per day i find to be the perfect combination for a productive day. Like someone said above, it's all about moderation.

I make a full pot of coffee every morning and then I've found that it is so much more efficient to just snap the lid off the pot and drink it from there. If I'm going to drink it all there's no point in getting a cup dirty, is there? (No, I'm not serious.) There are some surprising benefits. Did you know that there is more fiber in coffee than orange juice? More Fiber in Coffee Than Orange Juice? I'm not at all trying to say that it is healthy. I don't know. That bit of info was just a surprise to me. |

Moderation is the key. I personally don't drink coffee altho I love it. I don't do well on caffeine, get to gettery. I drink green tea all day. It has less than half the caffeine. I found over the years not to get too caught up in all the talk about what is good and what is bad. Eat healthy but have your treats too. In moderation again. Also the way you think about food before you ingest it affects the way your body processes it. If you are worried or concerned or thinking you shouldn't before you eat or drink something it affects your digestion. So if you are going to eat or drink something feel good about your decision. If you don't feel good about it don't eat it. Maureen |

The problem with a lot of these "this is good for you", "that's bad for you" stories you see in the news is that lots of substances that we eat/drink have postitive and negative effects. So one group of researchers will find positive effects, and another will find negative effects, and the media will spin their findings whichever way sells more papers/gets more viewers/etc. Caffeine gives you a jolt of energy and alertness, but it also throws your brain chemistry out of whack (by causing your brain to make more adenosine receptors - you can look it up on Wikipedia), which actually makes you feel MORE tired than usual if you don't have that next cup. So is it good for you or bad for you? If having more energy is the issue, eating smart, getting enough sleep (easier than it sounds, I know), and excercise are much better solutions. |

Nectar of the gods - coffee is good, good, good. Raises metabolism, enhances creativity, and... it tastes good. Good for distance running too - I used to run competitively and thought it helped my performance, especially the long distances (marathons). Dan |

Only in moderation. I used to drink coffee all day, I was jittery and couldn't concentrate. I switched to only one cup in the morning, drank more water...i felt much better. Seriously though, try limiting coffee intake and increase water intake, it's good for ya. |

I can't prove coffee is harmfull, but I drink it pretty seldom. Now I live with a simply rule: What looks nice, tastes and smells good is a good food or drink (Allen Carr wrote about it in 'Easy way to lose weight'). And I remmember coffee was disgusting the first time i tasted it (and not only the first time). Later I just fooled myself it's tasty... And coffee (coffeine) didn't help me to work or study at night. Actually, I was drinking coffee before going to sleep not so long ago... Maybe there are good things coffee gives but I believe it does not counterbalance harmful effects of it. Of course, it's only my opinion ![]() regards, M.Bruso |

if you are healthy, coffee is bad for you. Try some experiments to prove it for yourself, drink coffee, measure your bodies response. If you are unhealthy, coffee may be good for you depending on your ailment. |

I drink a lot of very strong coffee, but I have found that when I get jittery, a cup of hot water satisfies me almost as much as the coffee. I really think it is because it is a hot drink, and I associate hot drinks with comfort and relaxation, a treat if you will. I do not pay much attention to the health hype because there are things way worse for you than coffee and it seems like an innocuous vice at worst.

I can't actually drink coffee anymore, over the years I have become sensitive to caffeine and coffee is just not in the cards anymore. It is a great metabolizer for sure, I'd just be careful not to drink more than a couple of cups a day. Very strong diuretic and your body needs water more than anything.

I once heard coffee is good because it's an accelerant. Accelerant allow the heart to beat faster. The blood to flow smoother , thus burning energy and fat. So in my opinion coffee is good.

Coffee is both harmful and good for you hence the difference between different health gurus. As many have said one, two even three cups a day tend to be better than harmful. However, tea specially green tea has all the advantages of coffee (antioxidants) with fewer disadvantages - however this said the advantages of enjoying life are most important. If you enjoy the coffee and do not become jittery (caffeine overdose) and sleep well (too much coffee in the evening can cause insomnia) go for it and enjoy yourself. All the 2-3 cups a day are guidelines and only you know what is the right amount for you. |

I love drinking coffee! There have always been arguments about coffee being good/ bad for the health, but I think that if taken in moderation, a good 2-3 cups a day can help us get through the day.

Well i drink coffee for just one reason,i just love the taste but the best thing is that i do not crave for more than 1 cup of coffee so its pretty much in moderation and i am assured that i will be spared the ill effects of excess drinking.

Personally, I don't like coffee...but like a lot of people have said, if taken in moderation not it's bad for you. Still caffine is highly addictive, and has a terrible effect on the skin over time.

I gave up drinking coffee about 6 years ago when I went on a health kick. Once you've boken the habit, its easy to stay away from it. Now can someone please tell me how to do the same with chocolates?

Perhaps I'm a bit biased because I don't drink coffee or tea for religious reasons. I did drink them both at one time however and I have felt much better being off of them both. However mild it may be to some, they both contain natural substances (including caffeine) which are addictive.

Michael, I always thought the basic "problem" is dehydration, but hey, now I've read 7 Dangers of Coffee Addiction ConditionNutrition Reviews and tehre's a lot more... Or not? Guess it won't kill you and I don't drink a lot anyway, so doesn't really matter to me - just keep save and don't become a coffee-junkie... |

That is the most informative summary of caffeine V nicotine I have ever read! I do not believe in good or bad anything.... moderation, perception and compromisation are my key elements! If traces of cyanide (usually poisonous) can be found in apple seeds, this must be true! (aso found in mango seeds and some other seeds, but many people eat apple pips!) I personally quit smoking 8.5 weeks ago, and my coffee intake has been reduced to under 10%. I think I am now at a moderate level for both (I think cigarettes should be had in moderation, moderate it so your last smoke is your last smoke!) | |

Espresso is best as a brain food and for your digestive system. However, caffeine is bad for you (it affects your blood sugar and is potentially addictive). So it's not all good, and it's not all bad.

Moderation is the key. Statistics and studies can generally be skewed to "prove" anything one way or the other. I have known people that can drink coffee at night and sleep like a baby. I have seen a guy drink coffee after 5 pm and not be able to sleep. It is up to the individual and how it effects them. Nowadays it seems that everything kills you so again I say moderation, moderation, moderation.

Coffee has recently been found to contain some very important antioxidants that prevent cancer and attack free radicals in your body. I would say that was good. Caffiene is good for your skin. However, like anything else, you can go overboard, so drink up in moderation and enjoy your coffee! Godloveya. |
