Are You Afraid to Post on Warrior?

I was. Really? Yep

I feared being criticized. I feared being judged. A funny thing happened when I did post; like-minded people found me. Business expanded.

Some ppl disagreed with me. We had great discussions. Others were snarky; I never let those terrified, scared people affect me, because I feel compassion for fear-filled, angry or jealous people

So do you fear writing your own posts? Hop on board! Stop being a first or second or third responder

    Actually I was afraid too.

I didn't want to get in conflict with anybody, also I didn't felt knowledgeable enough to post about anything.

At first, I did. When I noticed that there are some people who are being sarcastic. Like there's a question raised that although it does not make sense but why bother saying something that is not good.

Me too The sarcastic folks were peeps I did not want to deal with, so I held back. Then I said the heck with it and began posting

I've seen some amazingly generous responses by Warrior members who take the time to publish entire page length answers to a question or give encouragement and advice. So, really there is no reason to fear posting. Once you get over that initial fear of being on stage in the spotlight (as you are when you create a forum post on Warrior), then it's smooth sailing. Just enjoy the advice and attention and along the way you will earn respect and make friends for your involvement and participation from like minded people.

Very interesting question, and answers. As you can see I have been a member for several years and have not participated very much. I guess I have been a little selfish in respect that I have used this forum to learn from other more experienced people, without taking the time to give my opinion or even thanks.

          So it stops here.

I am now taking part and sharing my opinion on this forum.

So thank you to all those people on here that I have learnt from, and for those that are unsure or afraid of posting, please do, your opinion counts.

I wouldn't say I was afraid of posting but when I just joined I felt like I wasn't smart enough to voice my opinion. So, I made sure I didn't post anything unless I had a lot of experience with it or I looked it up and knew it was a fact.

Use your own voice and by that I mean be yourself. The right people will connect with you and they are the ones that count. There are plenty of keyboard warriors around just waiting in the wings to argue or belittle you. Who cares about them? They will never beome your friend or customer. If one person connects with you then your post was worth it.

I'm not afraid of being criticized, but I feel that most of the others are much more experienced and wiser than me what comes to IM. The threshold to post is quite high for me because of that. Before I post, I want to be sure that I add something useful to the discussion, and that is often challenging.

You really find lots of useful information from this forum and people are keen on helping. I find it amazing.

I don't think afraid is the word... just generally apprehensive altogether. And definitely not about the forum: what a lovely resource! But just about jumping in and doing what I want to do.

What if I succeed? I'll have to.. do stuff! Scary!

I just read for a couple of weeks without joining. Finally I decided to jump in, and I've already started two threads with questions I have. I felt like these were the only obstacles keeping me from starting my cold calls:

Can I close on the phone?
        Do I need a DBA account/alias?

And I am glad I did!

I don't necessarily know if I was afraid to post before. I think my lack of contribution to this forum was that I had very little to give in the way of technical information when I first started in IM less than a year ago. Most of the questions I wanted to ask were already asked and answered as well.

Now that I have found a couple of mentors who have generously helped put me on the right track over the past few months, I will look to contribute a lot more.

Never crossed my mind even for a split second. These people cannot see you anyways why would anyone be afraid. Also those people are the lost ones, not you, they usually criticize and make fun of people because they are lost. I've dealt with them on other forums and they see the world as black or white when it's neutral.

Hey Ryan, what an interesting question yet, it seems, a pertinent one.

When I first signed up to the forum I just browsed around and didn't get involved at all. I noticed a surprising amount of vitriol and wrist-slapping (I'm not griping, it's just an observation) and it did put me off for a while.

Once I did start to post I, like other have mentioned, found that there were lots of genuine, helpful people who have a lot to offer. It's those people I am interested in connecting with and all the rest don't really matter, in the grand scheme of things.

These days I get more 'tired' rather than intimidated, in that I sometimes just can't be bothered dealing with the drivel that sometimes shows up. I know that this is something that can be overlooked for the sake of the good stuff, but all too often I find myself thinking, "*sigh*, here we go yet again".

At the end of the day I suppose the key is to try not to let any negativity adversely affect you. There will be many times through life where people will be unkind with you or make a nuisance of themselves, especially if you're dealing with lots of people as someone who's running a business. But these will only really affect you if you allow them to.

Hi Roger, well done on making a start! Some people who want to do it don't even make it that far. The first thing I'd recommend is know what your goal is - I mean, your real goal. What is it you want to achieve and why do you want it? Write it down, know firmly what you want. Then, focus on one thing at a time. Don't take too many things on at once. Rather than having three sites that aren't doing much, why not focus on sticking with one and building it up? For example, instead of having an idle Wordpress site with nothing on it, why not get something on it? If it's going to be a blog then make a post. Don't overthink it, just write down a bit about you and what you want to achieve.

It's difficult to be more specific without knowing your background, skills, niche, goals, etc. But I think the main things you need are clarity and simplicity - be clear in what you want and why you want it. Then, focus on one thing at a time, keeping things nice and simple.

Truly speaking you should worry about anyone. Walk your own path unmindful of what people say or think. Moreover, if people are taking time out to read what you are posting and criticizing you publicly then two things are for sure :
      - One, you are progressing on the right path and are getting noticed
      - two, your progress is making them uncomfortable

      Keep Walking ! Cheers !

ha! This place is awesome. A little quirky with the rules but if someone is abusive you just report them and the posts are deleted. I just went through it. Awesome. So in the future if someone posts abusive stuff I can just ignore it, continue with your own subject, report it, and it gets deleted. Awesome!

Now we just need to deal with the initial emotional reaction to that abusive post.

And we also need to deal with when you are wrong and people point it out. That isn't fun. For me it doesn't matter so much. Get into it. You can engage with people making valid points. Then you can also edit your posts as well. There doesn’t seem to be any limit on how long ago you can edit your posts. Of course relationships would be nice if you mention why you edit something. Then they don’t look very good if they are still mentioning something you fixed.

People can be mean and awful because they are afraid, bitter, and jealous. If we band together (and Warrior Forum continues to support us) then the good comes out. Your good shows well.

I think a lot of people feel a sense of fear or intimidation when trying to take part in any type of forum. It's the classic lack of self-confidence that "everyone else" is so much more qualified, knowledgeable, etc. The best approach is to just jump in there and you will become more confident, knowledgeable, etc.

For me, it was not so much fear as reticence. With so many members who know so much and accomplish so much, I tended to think that I had very little to contribute. Even now, I hesitate to post because I think there are others who are far more qualified to answer a question or voice an opinion. I'm getting better, but still...

            Hi All.

I started a thread asking for feedback on my new opt-in page. I'm very new to the IM world. I truly appreciated all the feedback, but I have to say I was taken aback a little as a few of the people that responded did so in a negative, harsh, critical tone. Completely unnecessary. When people are looking for advice, assistance, etc., being positive, supportive, encouraging should be the goal.

With a site review, some of the best advice you will ever receive will be harsh and negative. Of course, you are emotionally attached to your site as if it's your baby and you can't see objectively. You need others who are using 'fresh eyes' to look at your site and tell you where the flaws are. If possible, try to look at the advice objectively, and not take it personally or internalize the advice. See if there is any real value to each comment or feedback given and try to learn something. It's not easy to humble one's self to take advice or admit being wrong, but the rewards for humility will far outweigh the tiny sting of rejection. Best of luck with you site.

The great majority of people die with their music still in them Ryan. And this is because FEAR holds them back.

Fear is the only thing that will ever stop anyone from achieving 'extra' ordinary results in their life, their business and their dreams.

It takes a lot of courage to stand out in front of the crowd instead of just hiding among them.

This is my first time posting on the forum and I'm terrified. Not sure why I'm so fearful. If I think about the why it would be fear of ridicule or not know what to say or how to communicate effectively. I've been dabbling in affiliate marketing for a little over a year now and just realized the other night that I've got to step up to the plate and get out of my comfort zone. This is a HUGE step for me but I'm so glad I'm finally doing something pro-active. So glad I found this thread Have a awesome day all

It's funny how small things like posting on a forum can make people be afraid and feel like it's the thoughest thing on Earth.

If we look at things from a wider perspective, we'll see that life is too short for us to be afraid of silly things. I say just go for it! Whether it's posting on a forum, asking the girl you like to go out with you, or starting your first online business - JUST GO FOR IT! LIFE IS TOO SHORT! Remember this next time you feel afraid of something, which in fact can't harm you in any way.

Not at all. I don't post because I lurk and spend my time making money, not posting. Fear is a crippling emotion. When you live without fear, then you will begin to see what it's like to live life truly limitless. It is a wonderful feeling, and I hope for everyone to experience it in their lives.

Not so much afraid as not knowing what i could contribute as someone fairly new to 'the game'. I've read posts here for years but only recently actually signed up. I've seen plenty of posts where newbies have asked questions with the typical response from the old salts being to search the forums bbecause it's been discussed before, which was personally discouraging.

But now I'm in, and so far, it seems like a friendly and helpful crowd. We're all growing together!

      Cheers,
      Michael.

I was afraid too, until I saw this post. Be yourself, leave it other people the way they want to judge you, if they decide to do so. From now onwards, I will post as often as i can. I greatly appreciate this thread. Thank you so much.

How funny looking back. I remember the first time I posted, I had been a VERY behind the scenes ghostwriter for the top gurus (who were very active here back then). To "come out" as a fellow marketer - I feared ridicule. "Ha ha ha, you're ONLY a ghostwriter! What are YOU doing here!?"

I think I stopped breathing when I made my first post. I was petrified.

Only, everyone was welcoming and respectful...

I eventually become SO unafraid that I tend to get blunt and cause people to get pissy with me. Neither are positive qualities.

I try to just focus on being helpful and not engage with people anymore. They can just sit there in their wrongness and be wrong

Over the years I have spent way more time just reading and learning then actually posting, but not out of fear.

There is no reason for anyone to be afraid to post. As long as you are not promoting anything that is self serving in your post everyone here is pretty helpful and friendly.

        No, I wouldn't say I'm afraid.
If I need help with something I'll post a new thread.
I don't post replies on threads, though, because I'm inexperienced and feel that I can't contribute much.

Yes, I was afraid of posting on Warrior forum, but not anymore. I thought, people here are more experienced and knowledgeable than me and hence they might find my queries or doubts, laughable. But, I am posting this one, my first entry here to know more about warrior forum rather than just assuming.

I was never afraid to post on the warrior forum but I was nervous when I started my own thread for a service I had. I always felt like other people wouldn't like what I had to offer (even though we have a great service) , it's hard to not be negative sometimes and let your brain get the best of you.

In some way, shape or form, someone can learn from another in various aspects of the internet realm. That's what this forum is all about, and this section specifically is even better because it helps you focus on your mind.

    I love it...

There are more scarier people on blackhatworld.

I see how they tongue lash people for asking questions they know nothing about.
The responses they get haven't only scared them away but made them given up on IM completely itself.

Like it or not, there is always a first time and we will need to clear the air.

As someone who joined the forum for the first time yesterday, yes - posting even a reply was a little bit daunting. The main concern was being "shot down" by more experienced forum members or not adding anything of value. However, my experience so far has been of a very supportive community - I'll be less concerned now about posting a new thread when I have something new to post. In the meantime, I'm enjoying looking around and learning from some of the great threads already on here.

I think the thing I was afraid of was that when I asked for help, I'd have known the answers all along and look a bit foolish. This is about getting better and a lot of us know how it's done when you reflect once or twice a month. But the community has really helped me with reaffirming what I know until hopefully it becomes habit.

I do look more forward now to updating my progress towards being better.

Every time I join a new forum, I feel a bit shy, but you know, this is the life.

In my opinion the best way to go outside the comfort zone is going out and try without thinking about it.

I know! You heard this phrase a lot of times but it really works or at least for me.

We may fail and be criticized, but this is the only way to become a better human being. Learn by doing. Errors and critiques are part of our life.

We may fight against them or we can accept them. I learnt the second one works best for me.

Not afraid, just so curious. I am learning so much here and forget that I need to help others if I have the knowledge.

Hmmmm - I guess that's it, I don't feel I have the knowledge needed to post more.

Hi All, I am totally new to Warrior Forum and really didn't know where to start or what to post. Thanks for this thread and giving me the courage to take the first step... makes me think of one of my favourite quotes "Fear knocked at the door. Faith opened the door and there was no one there..."

I'd love it if you could give me some tips on where to go from here...#staystrong

Isn't it amazing how so many others are in a similar boat? I can totally relate - it comes from that inner fear of being judged and criticised. Heck - I've been a member of this forum for years now... but barely posted at all. Mind you, I've probably also used the 'I'm too busy' excuse a few times too.

I'm working on removing those excuses. I now ask myself 'do I really care what others may or may not think'?, and looking at the value of being part of the community. I'm aiming to post and contribute on a more regular basis... Even after posting last night, the responses were insanely helpful... and I'm not regretting at all.

Interesting thought: we could spend $1000's of dollars on more educational products... but asking the right questions here could give us the same result!
