Hey Warriors Just yesterday I wrote this post - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...nline-yes.html Telling that I had just handed in my notice of resignation from my job to go full time online. The post was well received so I thought why not now let you all know what I have done in the last 8 months that has led me to quit my job. Hope this is helpful to you .... Here Goes ..... Well although I state above after just 8 months thats not the whole picture. What I meant to say was after 8 months from when I figured it all out I quit my job. You see Im just like any other story really that you ever read. I have tried for SO long to make money online but all I ever did was keep buying products and getting no-where ! In fact I lost a LOT of cash doing this for some time. It seems thats the done thing though right ?! About 8 months ago though I paid for a good mentor to teach me. I was trained weekly on aspects of online BUSINESS, things such as blogging, getting traffic, squeeze pages, list building, marketing etc ... Notice I capitalised the word BUSINESS .... If theres 1 major thing I learned its that this is business ! For real, as a newbie you must realise that this online 'stuff' is real business. "Its Not Get Rich Quick, It's Get Rich Forever" A favourite quote my mentor said to me and just read it... Thats how it is. If you are serious about making money online then you must get into the mindset that this is business. Here's something else I struggled to get my head around ........ STOP trying to make money !!! Huh ?? What ?? Yeah you got it, stop trying to make money. When I actually stopped trying to make money online guess what happened ? I made money !! Crazy right ? But here's the thing, what I did and what you must do is HELP OTHER PEOPLE ... You might think you have no way to help others but once you have done just 1 thing I guarantee you that you do have a way to help. Get this, I set up a blog ... Simple ?? Well yes, once you know how !! So I wrote a short ebook on how to setup a blog... And then ? I built a list giving that away for free ! 8 months on that book continues to build my list with over 1100 downloads.... But guess what ???? That guide also had some affiliate links within ... So I have made a few 1000 dollars from it too ! More recently I wrote another ebook telling people my methods of getting traffic to my blog, again gave it away free and built a list ... and made a little more cash. With email promotions and affiliate stuff on my blog I have now over the last few months made close to $10,000 online, have over 1500 comments on my blog and a growing list over 1300. See how you can start from something so small and seemingly minor ! So heres what you do.... Start off somewhere, however small... You can then blog about it or write a report or ebook .... Every time you LEVERAGE the previous action or result. Just continue to build a business around helping others and giving value. You must get a blog started, keep adding content to your blog. Then go out for the traffic ... To begin with this will be a daily consistant effort but stick to it for long term results. Post in forums regularly in your niche, visit other popular blogs in your niche... DO NOT go out promoting yourself !!!! !!!!! Thats important, you need to get to be recognised as someone that offers good value and as someone worth listening to. That is MEGA vital ! This will begin to pull traffic in your direction, get the comments on your blog... Begin to build a list of your own. We all know the money is in the list so that is a main focus for your online business. But you must have a good RELATIONSHIP with your list to get them to listen to your message so give them good value. You could use giveaways to build your list also. Once your list is growing into the 100's get involved in adswaps with others in your niche to grow even more. As long as you give your list good value you can also begin to promote to them 1 a week for example... As your list grows you will begin making some money when your email them All the while you just keep leveraging what you do to grow your online business.... And that my friend takes you to where I am now ! I am 24 years old and just quit my job to be my own boss. Let me ask you this ... Is there anything above that you dont think you could do ? I'll promise you this, all it takes is time and consistant effort ! The money will come and although it is everyone's end aim it should not be your beginning goal. Everyone loves a little motivation right I hope my story can help youBest of luck Dean |

Well done. I agree with just about all you say. The big one is 'stop trying to make money'. I've heard it so many times. If you offer a good service/advice, the money will soon follow. My first foray into online business was as an online wholesaler. In the niche I was in you couldn't buy anything online. You had to go down to a wholesalers. I was the first and cornered the market for a year or so. I offered a great service and people actually enjoyed buying from me because they new the products were quality and they've get them the next day. Selling became effortless. It was a proper business. But as Dean says, if you're doing IM a couple of hours a night, treat it like a proper business rather than a hobby. All the best Dean. Here's to your continued success! |

Dean, Thank you for posting that. I have been struggling with many different ways of making money online. You just validated what I have decided is a conclusion for me. I am slowly moving in the direction you talked about above-hoping that this "way" will be the right way for me. I am trying to do this on my own, without a mentor, or program because I'm tired of all the ebooks that are not working for me.I don't think they are the "way" for me. As an aside-I used to own a brick & mortar thrift store-the theme was "United We Stand To Give A Helping Hand". We helped many, many people in need for free.It was a wonderful feeling and actually helped get our name out in the community. So what you said above about helping people-is spot on.And it does help from a business perspective. ![]() Deanna |

Awesome post, Dean - thanks! I would like to make one small observation, if I might. You may have changed your focus more to people than money, but you still had affiliate links in your free products, so you do have to keep it in mind. Yes, I agree, if you start out by saying, "How can I make $1000," you will most likely deliver junky products just to make sales, but if you first ask, "How can I really help some people out," WHILE thinking how you might profit from that later, that is key. It's kind of a fine distinction, but I think it's important, because you did say you focused on this as a BUSINESS. It sounds nice and warm and fuzzy to say, "Do what you love and the money will follow," but unless you have some sort of income model in mind, people will generally not randomly send you lots of money just for being helpful. Anyway, that's a current rant of mine. Thanks again for a great post, and GREAT WORK! Bill |

Hey John, No its a valid question my friend, basically I made around $3400 in my first month on a promotion on my blog. Then I focused on building a business so I wasnt promoting for a while then in the last few months I have made the rest. The thing is John I havent quit my job knowing Im making a full time income online. I am literally throwing my complete belief into my launch next month. I dont have a stash of money tucked away, I'll be leaving my job with 1 months pay and thats all. I just believe in what I am now doing enough to take this risk in my life. I feel the time is right for me. Hope that answers your question my friend ... Thankyou ! Dean | |

Did I mentor you? LOL. I only say that because as I read your post I was thinking about the things which you eventually said! You have a solid mentor and obviously you are dedicated to succeed. You are a good example of the simple fact that if you're serious about wanting to quit your day job, then you need to look at what you are doing as more than a hobby or just a little money on the side. If you had a part time job, you would show up every day on time, work an honest shift, and focus on the job at hand while you were there. The same goes for your own online business. Perhaps moreso, because the stakes are all yours. Set aside dedicated time for work. Write daily and weekly task lists that correspond with your short and long term goals. Do your work and don't get side tracked with ESPN.com or other sites that don't have to do with your business until you are done with your work. And you are absolutely on the money that when you focus on helping people, the money will happen. Nobody wants to be "sold" to. But actually give them honest help, with no expectations, and they will want to pay you for your goods and services. |

Dean! I love this post. It's funny, I was having a real good day recently - things were working the way they should - I had just succeeded in making my first video and I thought to myself "This is so much fun, I wish I didn't have to worry about making money..." For the first time in my life I could honestly say I LOVE my work. As you have said, this business is made up of baby steps, none of which are difficult to take. It's just that nagging thought "But I'm not earning any money..." that causes that feeling of panic in our tummy. I've got a great mentor & I AM making progress. Thank you for inspiring me to keep on going!! Elaine |

Hey Dinesh Well what is your blog about first brother ?? Mine it is all about my journey from 8 months ago about what I am doing to build my business... It may help you if you head over to my personal blog and start from my first ever post - www.DeanHolland.com That may give you an idea of what to write.... It all really depends on the focus of your blog. Write about you, write about what your up to, write about where you are at online and where you want to go How to get people to know about your blog is basically how to get traffic. That is a HUGE topic as Im sure you know but its actually simple with the right methods. Check my blog for my latest ebook - Blog Traffic .. Its free and its all the methods I use to drive traffic ![]() Hope that helps... Above all you have to be consistant, you got do stuff for a few days then leave it Best of luck... Stick at it dude !! Hello Dean, It is glaring that consistancy and passion to help people generates money in online business. I am a victim of inconsitancy. in fact, i have dived into a lot of online money making products but coming out without money, in some cases i will latter realised that where i left should have been the best place to be. Really i have no mentor but believed that some of the e-books i have are educative if only i will read and practise it over a long period of time. The best point i picked out is not only be conistent on line rather be consistent with a particular form of traffic generation. Thanks for a wonderful, inspiring, motivating and helpful post |

8 months sounds a realistic time to start getting steady and targeted traffic from Google. For 8 months if you link build and blog daily then you'll get there by that time. Not sure about writing ebooks and all that - you're lucky if an initial release would go viral. Forget about the money for now and just build your own little empire; obviously requires plenty of blood and sweat. |

Dean, Thanks for sharing this inspirational story. It motivates all of us that are working to find our "calling"... Another example of simplicity being the key to getting started, kind of like the faith in a mustard seed... I am curious about how you started your first niche: was it a researched keyword driven effort or something that you had an interest in and jumped without regard to popularity, etc.? Appreciative...
