I recently realized that I have some seriously warped ideas about money. And they all came from my upbringing. My grandmother was only teaching me what her father and mother had taught her. I couldn't figure out why we were always robbing Peter to pay Paul as much as we went to church and prayed. I struggled with my finances as an adult because I really believed that money was evil and that I should be poor. When I finally got out on my own, I learned that money is not the root of evil, but the "love" of money is. It took a while but now I know that I'm not supposed to be poor but I can make as much money as I want and it's ok. I struggled with that. I wanted more but felt that I wasn't supposed to have more. Think about it...what money belief is holding you back? |

Hey Emma, My family suffered from a financial crysis a while back. it happened when I was a teenager and really effected my thinking about money. Now, I find myself getting rid of this attitudes of 'lack' and steadily improving my relationship with the $ Igor |

I kind of agree with the above poster but not completely in my case because my family did'nt actually had a financial crisis but yes at times we used to think whether to go with the thing or not (because of lack of money) so this thing made my mind to get some relationship with the $$$ and i started earning and i still want to give my family the best i can and i am doing it ![]() Thanks Webmatic |

I totally had money beliefs in my way. I lived with my Sister for years and she is VERY left wing - and although we agreed on little - her views still rubbed off on me. The rich were evil they just got that way because they exploited the poor. It is bull - obviously. I want a lot of money so that I can live comfortably with the things I want, so I can help family and so I can help those less fortunate. Nothing evil about that. My upbringing also hammered into me that I needed to work long backbreaking jobs for lots of hours per day to be successful. I have nothing against hard work but I prefer to work smart. |

Is it something how another person's ideas about money can get into your system? I'm surrounding myself by people who have positive money beliefs and are working toward or have already met their goals. If bad beliefs can rub off fast - good beliefs can get in even faster. |
