Time Flies When You're...

Most would use the quote, "Time Flies When You're Having Fun".

I understand the thought behind that quote but, here's the TRUTH:

- Having fun has nothing to do with it. Time flies whether you're having fun or not. Time passes for each of us at the very same pace - second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.

- With that in mind: WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT IT?

- Once gone it is gone forever.

- Take advantage of and make the most of the time that you have before you, RIGHT NOW.

And, as you do so, always be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Actually... interestingly enough "time flies when you're doing nothing" is pretty close to the truth.

I read a study a while back on how if you do absolutely nothing... time will seem to move a lot faster. Because when you look back, there will be nothing to fill your memories.

In contrast, if you're busy every day.. time will seem more expanded and "slower" as you have a lot more to remember.

    • Time is always flying by and it's our responsibility to make it count. I believe in "seizing the day" and making each day great.

I think this is why a lot of us cannot put up with the 9-5 traditional job. It means that the majority of your week is spent building someone else's dream. And the time will always fly by on that each week!

Time flies when you are committed to a schedule, a routine. Find your daily ritual and pour all your energy in it. Time is "metabolized" when you do things that stimulate your interest. I am keenly fond of periodic subconscious "excavations" that recharge my batteries.

I have revolted against the system and feed off an alternate reality that gets my blood boiling. Seldom am I bored becaused I'm absorbed into the specifics of a "get'er done reality". I have tapped on to a source that energizes me throughout the day. So time flies and energy multiplies.

I feel blissed and fortunate to open cryptic gates of the mind for endless possibilities.

There are some events and activities in my life that seem to drag on forever, each minute becoming like an hour.

I'm just assuming those are the events that I like the least.

Conversely, if I'm in a happy moment, it's over too quickly and I look back fondly wishing that I could recapture that joyous feeling again or relive the moment or regretting that I did not make it last longer.

I see people missing your point. It is not about "Time Flying", it is
    about time - period!

Anyone who thinks that they can "Manage" time is delusional. I see all
of these books on "Time Management" and have to laugh. Time is not
managed, it is used. You can use it wisely, to your benefit, or you can waste
your time. So, as mentioned in the above post, time is the same for everyone,
and if you could manage time, then you would be able to stretch, condense,
or bend it if you needed to do so. What you can do is manage yourself, but
    you really can't manage time.

Time will seem to go faster if you are mentally focused on something, only
because you are not paying attention to any time reference. Time also
    seems to go by faster for people who are older, or become terminally ill;
time also becomes a lot more precious, and takes on a whole new meaning.

Time flies when you least want it to. I set aside 3-6 hours everyday for working on my business, and MAN do those hours FLY by. And I'm efficient, I don't procrastinate, and yet that time is always gone before I've done half of what I wanted to do.

Very interesting insight from many people here.

The way I see it is as we get older most people desire certain accomplishments and when they live life not working towards those accomplishments they feel empty and realize how much time has been wasted without any action.
That is why when people say time flies when you're having fun, because normally if you are having fun you are not working towards satisfying your true desires. Having fun is a distraction we choose to take that gives us instant satisfaction. Not saying that this is wrong, but too much fun will definitely keep you away from the success you are in search of.
If you accomplish a lot then although the days go by just as fast we have built stronger memories that give that time more value.

Interesting thoughts and, yes, I do think most missed the point!

Simply put: Make the most of the time you have NOW.
