Set a small goal and achieve it. Then set a little bigger one and achieve it. Belief comes from achieving.

There are a few ways of doing this which might be helpful to you.

Whenever you mentally see a picture or think of something negative that you don't want to think about or that isn't your ideal "you" repeat either verbally or mentally: "Cancel, cancel".

This helps for those moments where the thoughts just randomly come to us unexpectedly. That tells your mind not to register it as a thought to be manifested.

It's sort of like your mind giving you a bunch of flash card options of possible realities to create and the good thoughts are the ones you accept and keep whereas the negative ones you can cancel, literaly.

If you have a deep seated belief that you want to get rid of the next process is longer and takes more time but will set you free in ways you cannot imagine. Seriously.

Write a list of 10 - 20 (or whatever number, really) thoughts/beliefs that you have that no longer serve your purpose.

Mentally or verbally say each belief in the present and feel all the emotions and images that come up. For this practice it's definitely okay to feel uncomfortable (you might have much stronger feelings, but all of that is okay) since you're thinking about stuff you don't like.

Then mentally say "this belief no longer serves me and i release it entirely from my consciousness. It is no longer part of me."

If you practice with this enough (it took a few weeks for very deeply set beliefs for me) the effect of those negative beliefs will decrease because you believe in them less and less over time.

You can also say, obviously mentally or verbally again, "I release [insert belief] and let it go entirely."

Realistically you can say your own version of this, but the central message is that you're telling your conscious mind to invalidate these ideas. And just as you can implant ideas over time you can release them over time.

When you have satisfactorily released and feel notable results you can burn the list of negative beliefs to solidify in reality that those ideas are long gone for you in the physical world.

It's like setting a boat on fire and pushing it into open water; the act of burning is very powerful when used in the proper contexts.

I have used both of these methods and they are hugely effective in reducing the head trash we tend to accumulate over time.

I echo what others have said - great post heavysm

I like to concentrate on what I tell myself every morning, and evening. Morning is about boosting my confidence and making sure I focus on what's important. Evenings focus is to praise myself for effort and recognise the progress that has been acheived.

I also find having a long term plan to focus on helpful and motivating.

In terms of sales confidence, increasing the knowledge you have of your target customer is also likely to increase the effectiveness of the conversations you have, and sales you make too. When you start to achieve results the snowball should begin to pick up speed - but you can work on your own confidence before sales results are obvious too.

    Jeff's strategy is great.

There are a ton of strategies you can use - incantations, visualization, meditation, anchoring.

Tony Robbins is someone to really pay attention to about this sort of stuff.

You need to build up evidence that those limiting beliefs are not true. So, you need to do the things you would do if you didn't have those limiting beliefs. If you do that on a daily basis, little by little you will build your confidence and get rid of your limiting beliefs.

Easier said than done, but you can take baby steps and work your way up.

Yeah that is one of the most effective ways I've found to get rid of my limiting beliefs with certain things.

There's a Japanese word - Kaizen - which means improving just a little bit every single day.

This is a process. Just focus on getting 0.001% better every single day.

And trust me, where you'll be 1 year, 2 years, 3 years from now will be AMAZING.

The difference in myself from where I was 5 years ago to now is CRAZY. It didn't take one day of awesomeness to get there - it was a process, I improved just a little bit every single day...

...and OBVIOUSLY I'm still on that journey - it's not about the outcome, it's about the journey. It's about improving just a little bit every single day.

      Rant over ;-)

Sorry for the late response, but yes you should "act as if" you didn't have the limiting beliefs. Start small and build your way up. Make it a daily ritual. Consistency is very important when it comes to getting rid of strong limiting beliefs.

it really depends on the conditions that created the limiting beliefs ..

write them down and then figure out when you developed them ..

treet them like a speed limit ..which to many people i know do not view it as a limit but the slowest speed you should go .

these limits are there to provide safety .. so what did they keep you safe from..and is that a danger any more ..

in the succeess industry the high jumper who figured out how to jump over the bar backwards is often sited..what is left out is that the padding high jumpers landed on had been changed ..and the old padding would have resulted in serious injury if you land on your back.. while it just took someonf understanding what was now possible with this change ..

in the world we live in thing are changing all the time and what where limit a few months ago may not be valid any more ..

What do you do if you need to make a personal change?

So many people (therapists, personal development speakers, life coaches, Tony Robbins, NLP, etc. etc etc) all claim to know how to perform core level change but they can't explain exactly what it is. In order to have a relationship work out change is required at some point. I'm sorry only cuts it so far. I'm positive I found what it takes to achieve core level change.

If we can trust that things will work out then things tend to work much better. The actual problem is that stress or pressure causes us to have to heal (change) our limiting beliefs first. Or, in other words, what do we do if we can't trust because our false beliefs block us? Once this begins our ability to trust goes right out the window. We are consciously looking for exact steps to perform. A system if you will. Surrendering is only part of it.

Many, many people have experienced the change just as OP wishes. Well, they often talk about the affects at least. They just know something happened and now they are free but they still can't tell exactly what they did so you can consciously reproduce it. That system has never been discovered until now. I call it Gutap.

What is this change? Truly, without all the hype and pump of motivational speakers. No more fake it 'til you make it, no more, "it's a process, stick with the process." Everyone in the personal development field has been claiming core level change for decades but they simply can't explain the exact steps to achieve it. At least licensed therapists have the decency to admit they don't know what the cure is.

The real problem is that the vast majority of personal development is teaching skills. Skills are wonderful if you can do them. Performing a skill (such as goal setting) produces results. Exactly what you want to do to get money. Excellent, except when your own limiting beliefs get in the way of you performing the skill. Then skills teaching simply just does not work anymore. What do you do then?

It is also very important to recognize that the many coping skills help a lot. You still have to do many of the things that are being taught. For example, setting your intention (or setting goals) is still required. One of my first principles is to be 100% responsible for everything in your life. Without this then doing what works becomes a hit or miss type of thing.

If you don't have willingness or belief (which most people don't) then we rely on marketing and sales to get you to want to do it ( a form of motivation). From there we go with hundreds of different personal preferences but only one thing actually causes change or healing. It is the healing of the false belief. Many different things might be needed to heal but only one thing needs to be done to heal. There are many different ways to forgive but only one forgiveness. This often confuses people because they think there are many different ways to cure anger when the facts show forgiveness is the only thing that cures anger. Gratitude does not cure anger. Hard work does not cure anger. Meditation does not cure anger. These things can help get you to forgive but only one thing cures anger.

The same is with healing false beliefs. Only one thing cures it.

It can be very confusing with hundreds of methodologies, nearly unlimited personal preferences (how you like your self-improvement presented to you), and a seemingly unlimited number of experts telling us different things that may even be contradictory but produce varying results with different people.

There is now a basic system for change that allows for individual expression.

Now let me tie that back into what works in personal development. Back to personal preferences again. There are as many different ways to become successful as there are occupations and professions to earn money. One of the reasons that personal development for us Warriors can be so complicated is having to sort out what style of success will work for your personality. There are many different things to do that will work. But what if you don't get success when you do what works?

Notice that everyone has to do something. That is across the board. Nobody can achieve success without having to do something. And we all know this here as well. Nothing new, just connecting action to being a one thing that everyone has to do. Now, what everyone has to do goes back to being incredibly different until you pick a profession. Let us just say a doctor to make it simple. (ha! Like being a doctor is so simple. lols) Anybody who wants to be a medical doctor has to go to school. Medical school is A LOT of action including a ton of passive action in studying.

Do you see how this is narrowing down?

Now with studying there are only a few different ways to go about it. Pick one that will actually work for you and get after it. But what if the different ways of studying simply do not work? Ah, ha! That is where I come in with the method I developed called Gutap. Feel free to google me if you want.

What do you do when what is supposed to be working simply doesn't?

This is where we get into beliefs - specifically false beliefs or even just limiting beliefs. Our programming is off. This is the change (or healing) that is being asked for. And that is what I developed after twenty-five years of research and development. One system to be able to change any belief all the way to our core that works on anybody. (anybody being you have the mental capacity to be aware with cognitive abilities.)

Here are the three steps to Gutap in a nutshell:

    1) Feel the feeling of our limiting belief.

    2) Find what the positive answer is that it actually wants us to know.

    3) Connect the feeling of what it wants us to know and let the feeling of that answer flow into our limiting belief to change it.

The feeling changes it NOT you if you have it matched exactly.

That is as simply as I can put it.

Do you see how this method is used when we forgive? The forgiveness (feeling) flows into our anger (another feeling) to heal our anger. Gratitude does not cure anger - mismatch. Neither does happy, relaxed, elated, playful, clever, passion, or excited. These feelings don't cure anger because they don't match it exactly. The goal is to find the positive feeling the limiting belief is trying to teach you, exactly, then let the good feeling flow into the limiting belief feeling to change it.

That's it. Twenty five years to just get that.

Now to be fair there are over three hundred sublevels, tips, techniques, personal preferences, hints, and suggestions that also come into play in teaching how to deal with the highly personalized false beliefs that some people may have. And to be honest, a bit of the time with my clients the placebo effect kicks in and does it for them. Seriously, how many times have we just been told to "get off it" or "let it go" or take a walk or see it from their point of view to get us to forgive? Tons. Or, the opposite problem, is telling someone to forgive can simply just make that same person even more upset. Gutap is the same way. Sometimes people just want to argue and yell at me instead of seeing what works. I understand. Not everyone is willing or wanting to see progress and development. It can be incredibly scary.

In fact, forgiveness can even be taught as a life skill instead of healing our anger and it could just "accidentally" help us out. How many approaches, styles, methods, or whatever to get us to forgive are there? Tons. See how confusing this can be to figure out just one method to "cure" any limiting or false belief? It took me twenty-five years to do it.

Depending upon interest this thread there is also a simple "ice cream" exercise to demonstrate how it works. This exercise only takes a couple of minutes and can be completely private if needed. I often use this when sharing with people about how Gutap works and people like how simple, clean, and straight forward it is.

The other part of this is skills or the specific action that works. Being able to study that I mentioned earlier. You have healing and skills. Both are needed to one extent or another to achieve success and do what works. How much and to what extent is highly individualized - back to personal preference. Which is why I still enjoy all the different programs, methodologies, books, workshops, and videos that people put out. Different ways to do one thing or just many choices to choose from that can work for you depending on your preference.

Style! It rules the world. Those who have class AND are competent are incredibly wonderful people. And that is one of the reasons why we love our personal development coaches. They are enjoyable to talk to while continuing to grow as people.

Take sales people for instance. Who do you want to buy from - the courteous intelligent salesperson or the mean intelligent salesperson? Both are competent but the mean sales people simply end up costing the business more money by driving customers away.

It took me a long time to learn to just communicate what Gutap is - let alone describe it in detail. People have to understand it before they can do it. I have it to the point now where I can describe it in beautifully simplistic detail but simple beautiful truths are often extremely difficult to do.

Another aspect that makes it extremely difficult to implement on your own is just being able to stay conscious and aware when you trigger your own beliefs. It is like someone with PTSD trying to work through their own trauma on themselves alone. That is why it is incredibly intelligent of you to reach out and ask for help. Having someone who knows what is going on walk you through this is very wise. It would save you many years of work and confusion. You don't have to have help though. You can figure out how to do this on your own. It's that it just took me twenty-five years on my own to figure out the exact steps of how to achieve core level change of any belief - Gutap.

If you do want to go the independent route I would strongly suggest posting this on other forums and ask other professionals besides myself for help. You may not get it all down but you may just get the insight you are looking for as well. <seriously

Beautifully simple truths are often hard to implement. Easy to explain - a lifetime to master.

There is someone everywhere constantly saying "their" method is best but when it boils down to it they simply can't describe the process that happens. I did. Let alone seeing why something didn't work for someone. I do. My testimonials on my website attest to this very fact.

Or we can just go placebo effect. Just trust that things will work out. Why go through all the trouble of describing your bad childhood, beating on pillows, or emotionally grueling therapy? Just trust and believe that things will work out and they usually do. Why don't people do that? Because they have a limiting belief getting in the way of being able to trust. They have difficult trusting and believing. That is where Gutap comes in. To deal with limiting false beliefs directly to completely resolve it. Then they can finally learn the skills to trust and believe. Skills are what most coaches teach because skills produce results and earn money. Healing only gets a person out of the pit, skills allow them to run the race.

I get this all the time. My methodology is better than yours. Well, if it is, then you would already know Gutap, how it works, where it came from, how to explain it, and how to teach it to answer all the questions about what it is. Your method would have done all this for you. You would be able to read anyone's landing page and pretty much be able to write their course that they are selling because you would know exactly how to produce change of any limiting belief.

I am in a delicate situation because I take the stand that there are still skills that people like Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, or Bryan Tracy teach that are very valuable. I like to do the change side with my coaching then hand them off to a qualified life coach specialist for certain skills teaching such as how to exercise, eating healthy, sales skills, managing finances, get a promotion, networking, or better relationships. I know a lot about those things but nowhere near what a qualified specialist does. I like a professional, competent specialist to take over after they completely resolve their beliefs that were getting in the way of learning.

As has often been said, "The challenge with (fill in any personal development teaching) is the application." It is the limiting beliefs a person has that get in the way of applying those wonderful teachings. That is what Gutap changes.

Think of 10 positive statements about the sales person you want to become.

Review them morning, noon and night. Think about them in between. Don't tell anyone you are doing it.

If you follow this exact method within 30-90 days your mind and life will change. No doubt about it.

Start by doing something you wouldn't normally do. Practice one thing each day.

For example, go a different way to work. Shop at a different grocery store. Watch a different t.v program you wouldn't normally watch. Try a different dish at a different restaurant you wouldn't normally go to.

This will help you gradually get out of your limited thinking. Worked for me. Never knew I would actually like "California Rolls"
