Toxic words and phrases

It just occured to me whilst reading a members post, who says that she is not aware of putting herself down by using certain words, that there are many toxic words and phrases we use about ourselves and in expressing seeming approval to others. The most disastrous toxic compliment is ' not bad ' one hundred percent negative, as a compliment and meaningless, best not to say anything.

These were words and phrases that were programmed into us, how many of us are conscious of the power of these words to keep our self esteem low, it is in fact difficult not to use them, I have made a very conscious effort never to say 'not bad' about myself or anybody else ,however so many people do say it.

If you use toxic words, you will lose before you ever even get started in anything in life (not just IM)

    Negative words impact your everyday life. Stop saying " I can't " or " I won't " or " I'm not good enough "

    And start say "I can" " I will " " I must " " I am good enough".

Each person has their own pressure point, those words or phrases that strike a nerve and draw blood. And, it's different for everyone. What bothers me, might not bother you. And, it won't matter if those words come from another person, but if those words are in my thoughts (directed at me) or if i say them outloud. That's when the damage happens. The key is to know which words will hurt you most and keep them locked up in a box you never open.

Honestly I never looked at not bad that way. I have however noticed that words can be very powerful. Recently, Because a friend forced me to do it, I started saying "Something amazing is going to happen to me today" every morning.
Surprisingly I started feeling positive every morning. My productivity increased, It sounds silly, but those words do impact me and my feelings.

Agreed 100%. Focusing on positive thoughts and phrases will naturally neutralize the negative language patterns. And it starts as soon as you wake up.
