PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

I've seen a few posts about mental blocks and 'how to' on the forum these past days.

For the fun of thinking the problem the other way around, what is your superpower as a new or established entrepreneur?

Unlike Superman, most superheroes aren't born with superpowers. They go through a series of events that have a transformational effect on them. As a result, they become aware of a strength or talent they didn't consider as such and start to get the best out of it - whenever they're facing a challenge.

What is your superpower?

How did it help you in developing your business and maybe even your personal life so far?

Flexibility
No business runs as planed, there is always an obstacle you need to conquer before reaching your goal. Beeing flexible and adapting to obstacles, taking calculated risks where the gain is bigger than the possible loss, is my superpower

So I understand that you have two (2) superpowers Insano

The power to Adapt to a given situation (like an obstacle) and to Evaluate the odds. That's cool.

I used to work in direct sales - timeshare related, it was a school I take with me my whole life, there I mastered the first "superpower".

You meet the people you have to deal with for the first time in your life, you have to adapt to them, to understand them, respond to their needs as soon as you find them. Also working so close with people, and asking them to make a decision on the first meeting (decision means, sign a contract, leave a deposit), can bring unexpected reactions, even aggressiveness used to happen. So adapt to the situation and "dont loose focus of your goal" saved me some nice deals.

Evaluating Odds is something I do every day (more or less), when working on a WP live site with more than 80.000 pages on the same template, and changing arrangements without investing time into A/B testing, your ecpm can drop by 90% with a bad decision or go up by 100% with a good one. Or your standings can drop by 2 positions if you change titles, wordcount, or other essential OnSite elements, which you will know after a week, and this can easily mean a drop in 40%-50% in traffic, fixable only after a week (average indexing time for me).

So the question I always ask myself when editing something or trying to further improve: Can I afford the worst case scenario? Is the possible improvement more worth than the risk I take?

Defining odds and risk vs gain is something I learned by playing Texas Holdem, and it is honestly pretty useful in my day by day work

It's surprising the number of people who - when asked - will say "I don't have any special talent" or "I'm not good at anything in particular". The funny thing is when you take the time to scratch the surface of their story with them, a few talents (sometime even a superpower) starts to pop up.

Reading your post Insano, it seems that through your experience in direct sales, and time spent playing poker you've develop a very good set of super talent or powers! Good for you!

Just so I understand your superpower better, how modesty has been or is helping you overcoming challenges you face - on a professional or personal level?

I know it's opposite - arrogance - could get anyone in troubles at times, but still, I'm curious about modesty

Empathy - understanding the hardships & sufferings people are willing to endure at the expense of their time, talents, and the false securities they place in working for others. Now more than ever in my life I can identify with a vast majority of people who want to explore new paths, and yet most of whom fear if they lost ( or left) their job their problems would only increase... thus too many talented people remained enslaved by limitations. Limitations they know will never satisfy or sustain their true ambitions, because they've been programmed to think the alternative is too risque.

Even more discerning is witnessing the competition people endure to secure/procure a job with a salary far less befitting than their time/skills (and cost of living) is truly worth.

Hence, understanding people's desire to be recognized, rewarded, and let loose of the typical ignorances that breed fear has become my underlying business mission... freedom... Its what everbody wants and few ever attain.

Hi art72. Empathy is a great power, even more when we're in a mode of "listening to people" or trying to help them. If you had to coin your business mission / purpose in one sentence (two max), what would it be?

My ultimate business mission, in one sentence;

Reach the attainment of financial security in the company of like minded visionaries, and those who choose to overcome any, and/or all obstacles that obscure the path to sustaining your personal freedoms.

  TheWriteOne, Efficiency is a superpower (or super talent). Laziness is usually considered more like a state of mind / way to behave. Have you developed your efficiency to enjoy more free time, for example?

To actually go back to life's basics and give happiness/money back to a community or a group of people that need it.

That's a superpower.

Because too many people talk about how "caring" they are but no one does anything.

My superpower has always been finding interesting "pieces" that don't seem to have much value. Then connecting them together in such a way that everyone around you says OMG because you're about to detonate the world! In a good way, of course.

I think I learned that from playing a lot of Dungeons and Dragons.
