This didn't tell me what niche to go in.

But I had a similar idea before...

Do what you are ready to do for the next 5 years, every day. If you're not ready to commit a big chunk of your life to something, then it's not worth starting.

Yeah, still looking for that niche I belong to.

5 years is too long, what if I find something interesting other than what I am doing right now? How long does one stick to a specific niche?

Well, you don't have to exclusively stick to one.
Imagine, you create a website. You post there once a week, build links. In one year you will have 52 posts. After 5 years - it's 260 posts. It's a 5-year old domain, and it has links pointing to it.
Your website will rank. You will make money from it.

The question is... What niche you can post about once a week for 5 years?

Assuming you're just starting, you will do most of the posting. You will not outsource that. So, what will not exhaust you in the next 5 years?

Of course, if you have something else, it's great! Do that too, as long as it doesn't hurt the niche #1.

        That's my take on it.

I really don't a have an interest or hobby so that would be difficult for me. I usually just research on it and develop interest on it eventually. Isn't that how one starts a hobby? Find something you want to do, study on it, do it and if you feel happy about it then that is your niche.

I understand your point because I was just like that a couple years ago.

Then I started asking myself "what looks fun to try? what would I like to do more of? What is important to me?" And so, I not only developed fun hobbies (like cycling, travelling, playing with RC toys), but also found "my niche" (at least one of them) - weight loss.

It turned out that I pay attention to how my body works and try to improve it. Once I committed to it, spent a year working out almost every day, I could see obvious results.

Then, I could share with other people how I got the results.

So, "nicheing" doesn't really work unless you commit.

I only know a few people who know what their niche is right from the start.
Many started from doing several experiments with various niches. It will be hard for you to find your niche if you keep on thinking about it.

Try several niches. You may start with your hobbies, passion, or things that you're curious of. Pick three and choose one that you think you can work hard for for several years.
