How to let SHAME push you into succeeding

If you've tried other ways of getting motivated but you can't seem to make any progress, try SHAME.

It's negative in most contexts but if nothing else seems to work, SHAME might just do it.

How?

Go on Facebook and boldly announce your GOAL. Make sure it's a realistic yet still lofty goal.

Post constant reminders about your goal.

This way, your fear of looking like a BUFFOON will push you to make progress.

With success, you either make progress due to PASSION/LOVE/DESIRE or FEAR

If love can't get you there, FEAR can do it.

Start harnessing the FEAR of Embarrassment and SHAME today and get the SUCCESS you want!

Accountability and shame are indeed very powerful. Post your goals on every social networks. Tell them to your friends and family. Talk about your goals every day.

This will massively boost your motivation.

    Cheers,

Yep, it's like CROWDSOURCED MOTIVATION using FEAR OF SHAME and EMBARRASSMENT. The key is to remind others of your goals on social media. Alternatively, if you have a blog, hold periodic CHALLENGES where you set a goal and have to people or suffer some consequence for falling short.

Sounds good, but you might find a lot of people responding and negatively holding you back. I believe positive reinforcement, i.e., positive rewards would be the better route. Perhaps promising to do something for others when you reach a certain goal would be much better. Then you would at least have people nagging you for your success instead of people telling you how it's not going to work.

Good point. However, there is a statistical truth that needs to be examined here...

There are two kinds of people: proactive and reactive. Proactive people thrive on positive reinforcement. However, reactive people only act when their backs are against the wall. Too many people think they are proactive when they are reactive. Not surprisingly, positive reinforcement doesn't do the trick for them. They try and try but they keep failing, procrastinating.

That's why, if nothing else works, there is always SHAME.

No doubt fear is a very powerful motivator. I don't care how lazy you're, if you see and smell smoke in your house, you will jump up and do something about it because of the fear of your house burning down. That is just one example of how fear can force you into action.

What about those who are shameless and without morals?
