...self-education will make you a fortune

hi there guys,

i would like to talk a little bit about this concept of education.
What do you think about education? And i'm not talking about school, college or whatever.

I'm talking about self education!

Since i started to read and invest on myself about self-education, reading business books, IM etc, i discovered the real power of it, i know it may sound a bit difficult to accept this but it's true. When you will start to see kind of changing in your personality as for example get distant form your friends and parents you may really realizing that you probably going to be successful,

it all starts from your mind and in order to succeed you need to change, PERIOD!

There is not any other ways, i know you may asking to your self now what it has to do with friend and people around you right?

Actually it's all because them!

We are the results of the closest 5 people are around us, if for instance you stop one moment and think, you are the result of what people around you have taught you years after years.

Sentences like: money will not make you happy, you are not going to be successful, it's hard to do it, you need to study and graduate your self to have a good job and good position (which means working for others, worst advice ever!) and so on and on...

They are all words/sentences/concepts that subconsciously program your self to see life from a weak point of view, results? You are programmed by others to fail over and over again until you realize that you need to get a mentor/book and start educate your self to be successful and start change your point of view towards life once for all!

At the beginning it was difficult for me, i admit it. But the burning desire i have inside push me to make my life changing, even get distant from people i love in order to be successful and change everything in better!

it may sound a lot harsh...but for me it really doesn't matter!

"Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune."

- Jim Rohn

Even though you say you live in London I'm guessing that English is not your first language?
Your statement is way too broad, yes educating yourself by reading learning from others etc. is never a bad thing bad to say it will make you a fortune is rubbish...

You can sit and read and learn all day long but if you don't do anything you're not going to make squat. Also if you are looking for work in a profession where tertiary education is required then being self taught is not going to help you either...

Lastly being a successful entrepreneur ie: running your own profitable business is not generally something you can learn, some people have it and some people don't...

Some people seem to think that setting up a poxy website and promoting a few books or tangible products is akin to running a real business, sorry that's just not true... You are delusional if you think that...

Other than that, yeah i sort of agree...

yes, salegurus i'm Italian and i moved in England nearly 5 years ago,

regarding what Jim Rhon said, i think and wanted to believe that for "fortune" he did not only mean about money, i think he just wanted to compare "formal education" with "self-education", you can refer to the first one to become a good employee, while the second to everything you want to, by saying "fortune" he meant regarding all you can imagine, that's the real meaning of the quote

          Jonathan,

Changing your mindset is a starting point for many . . . but as others have stated, it's only just a beginning.

It's like packing your bags for a long arduous journey. Now you have to leave the comfort of your own home and begin the long trek to your new destination. Often you will have to sacrifice other things before you can begin to see money flowing to you.

Self education is important. All of us need to be students during our whole career in IM. But learning doesn't make you money. Studying doesn't make you money.

I love the saying . . . "You will never discover new lands and oceans until you leave the safety of the harbor." Likewise in business - you've got to move beyond educating yourself if you ever expect to be successful at making money.

          The very best to you,

You have to let it TRANSFORM you...

That's the difference between self-improvement 'Entertainment' and REAL change.

Sadly, too many people confuse the two.

To the tune of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS every single year...

It takes being at a point in your life where you are willing or must transform combined with studying and then applying the mindset that will help bring this about.

Many people "think" they are ready to change or do something different with their life but they have not yet hit the point where they are so fed up, frustrated or angry about where they are that they will take the uncomfortable risk associated with major change.

In my experience (and I've done a fair amount in this space) - the difference between people who read or consume personal improvement advice, products, training but do nothing with it and those that take what they learn and APPLY it to really change their life is the degree of discomfort (dare I say PAIN) they feel in their current situation that drives them to really apply key principles and actions as if it were there Last and Only chance - then sh*t happens.

Good for you...sounds like your on the right track.
However...remember...knowledge (no matter how attained) is worthless without action.
It is intensity of Action...informed or not...that is the true educator.

      4 things:

      1) djtrillian, yes... success at all costs. By any means necessary. (except by selling porn)

      2) djtrillian... you are hot. You should give me your phone number.

      3) Jonathan, you only had to say 2 things, and it would have gotten you about 405 thanks:

3a: There's no shame in being broke. But there's much shame in staying broke.

      3b: It's all math.

      4) If anybody can write a 32-page ebook about what i just posted, i'll make you brownies (with the nuts), and email you the footage of me eating it.

Actually, I take this to mean that you don't let yourself get in the way of success.

I consider those actively acting without ethics in business to be doing more along the lines of what you describe, but that's not necessarily reflected in what the OP is talking about.

      Just a thought...

I think on personal development - Jim's message is probably the best free advice you can watch on youtube. Some of his videos were removed from Youtube recently - so I found this 4 hour long one - that is still gold.

Continuing to educate yourself each and everyday is something that we all need to do to some extent.

Once you stop learning then you fail to move forward and progress

This is what smart people already routinely do. "We all", on the other hand, indeed need to do it, too. I would recommend to start with learning the difference and proper usage of "everyday" and "every day."

  • There are ways a person can develop hismelf that one didn't even think thorughly before.
If self-help books helped you, you need to show it to the people who actively disagree with you. Activle trying to persuade you. Talk to them.
You've prepared yourself for this day.

Show them that the books you read do help, teach the people a lesson.
