Best Way To Change Limiting Beliefs On Your Own

Hi Warriors,

Maybe someone can help me here. I have a load of limiting beliefs about success, money, rejection etc etc...stupid things that I know intellectually are false but still resonate with me and end up in self sabortaging.

For example: If I'm successful then I'll always be busy.

Its very general but lets talk about successful in terms of money. I know its not true because I'll been more free instead...but i just see this picture of a lot of hard work rather than the rewards.

I have some experience in NLP. I sucessfully quite eating chocolate for 3 months and thats pretty much the only thing I have been able to get myself to do.

Most ppls buy WSO's, Self Help material and all but never use it like me because well...its like the fear of "if it works then i'll be successful and that would mean...." its kinda stupid but I'm stuck and sometimes I get some leverage on myself and take a lil action but that quickly fades out.

I have seen an nlp practictioner which cost me a fortune for 2hrs to do some work but at the time it would like i tricked myself into thinking the process worked, my head was spinning but i see no result.

I know I could just ram in some statements into my head daily and maybe over 30 days+ i might notice something without realising it....but there has to be a better way to use a technique to change right now. If I could do it with chocolate maybe I need to just keep trying with a belief...

Sorry for going on but I just want to describe the full situation because I think a lot of ppl must be in a same place where they feel stuck. It just seems my unconscious it resistent to change...sometimes when I'm on a role and get things going suddenly I'll get a head ache or something or can't think clearly and its like i have to stop.

Its becoming a joke now because I see average joe's making 6 figures and I know I have the potential to rule the world if I could just get in alignment rather than having all these conflicting beliefs and stuff in my head holding me back.

I mean seriously I'll start things like visualisation to invoke the law of attraction then 5 days later I'll just not do it because somewhere inside something will be holding me back.

So anyone using anything on their own which is has helped significantly? Something which is quick and can be done independantly without the help of someone?

Thanks for any advice.

I'm not sure I 100% understand but I will talk a little about me perhaps you can connect. I was just lazy and did not put the work in. I knew a lot of information but for so long I took no action. I knew deep down that I could be successful but I just never did anything about it.

If you are like me then you will only become truely motivated when your life hits the shit storm! Not a good place to be in my friend. How many hours a day do you work now?

I am guessing you are an 'intellectual' someone who spends a lot of time in their own head, pretty well educated and book smart. You over analyize information way too much and fail to take action because of this. You probably get frustrated when you see people who you deem to be less intellectual than you succeed. Part of you probably does not feel like you even deserve success and that is why you are self sabotaging.

You should try doing affirmations to boost your self esteem and confidence. You should also take action. Just do a few small business actions today. Just write 1 or 2 articles and keep yourself busy!

    Hi Stevie,

You hit the nail right on the head with I know everything and I know if I applied myself I could do just about anything but I don't take action...a lot of my day goes into distraction and trivia and doing business activities that are just keeping the fire at bay rather than any money making activities...

I wouldn't say i'm so intellectual but i have read loads of personal change, attended an anthony robbins seminar, walked on fire, read the books, listened to the tapes...

like you i also need to be in a bad place to take action....but so far doing that has not been the best strategy....i was once tooted as the golden child who would go to cambridge university and make a bigger impact on the world than bill gates...now i'm 25 and like $50,000+ in debt...and here is the thing...i still sleep at night...its like my situation is bad but i always think to myself...i could change my whole life around within 6months if I just started using my potential and so I don't create enough urgency, I only deal with the problem as it gets too bad...but the longer this goes on the more screwed I will be.

In 2007 i left my secure job to pursue my offline technology business and if was great for the 1st 4 months...then as success came and word got out and family wanted money I ended up screwing that up...I know someone I was protecting myself in all of that...there was positive intent there but damn...i just keep putting myself into more impossible to get out situations....if I make it without going bankrupt I will most certainly be writing a book.

I mean I know what my beliefs are...but here is the worst thing...i don't even take action of changing them....

Warrior Eric Louvier I think said in his course that "just take action - stop waiting to be more prepared" and thats what I do....I keep reading books, listening to things, until I am 1000% certain I will get the desired result.

when I was a kid I was great at maths and trial and error didn't matter I just wanted the result no matter what...now I find myself not trying things unless I know they work flat out....thats not going to get me anywhere.

so only 3% max of those who come to the warrior forum and buy wso's take action...and these belief issues are what causes it.

I feel your pain man. Just take 1 small action today that you know will help your business. You will feel proud after. Just do keyword research today and then do an article tomorrow. The more pressure you put on yourself to not just succeed but succeed in the grandest way possible the harder it will be for you to take action.

I think the best thing I heard was if you are going to fail...fail fast! None of the great inventors made things work perfectly first time around. There are no bad experiences or failures just learning experiences.

Go take action my friend and don't make me go there and kick your ass!

I'm right in your situation. It's like you're writing about me! Holy smokes! I'm an action taker, but it only lasts about 1 week. Then I'm back to square one! My wife wants me to see a shrink.

I have taken action before and do some work but no where near as I should be...when employed or doing favours for friends etc my focus and concentration is amazing...when working for myself I keep distracting myself...any work I am doing is not in the direction of my goals and I do find it hard to get stay with something. Fear of success with some fear of failure mixed in.

Our fears are based on believes though. For instance I have this idea that if I give it 100% and don't get the result I want then I'm not good enough...so easy thing to protect myself is not try so that i have an excuse rather than telling myself I am not good enough...lol...so if I didn't believe that I wouldn't mind giving 100% and failing.

I know this is all garbage but i've written all this down in the hope that my awareness of it would change it...but it remains.

I'll check out 3d Mind. Thanks

Hey, My favourite "belief" change tool is the 3dMind process by Tom Vizzini and Kim McFarland .. I could plug an affiliate link.. but i'm not gonna do that because it's hands down the best changetool out there atm.

It's about 250,00 $ and you'll get 2 dvd's, a few booklets with it..and last but not least you'll get access to the support group where the creators and 3dmind trained practitioners will help you get the get the results that you want.

You can find it here or you can PM/ Skype me (bartloos) if you want to know more.

    Have fun

    Hi,

No one will ever truly have the "correct answers" for you. But hopefully I can give you some insight into what has worked for me.

My take on your situation is: You are not lazy. You do not have a problem taking action. You don't mess things up. Yourself and the people around you are trying to label your lack of satisfaction with your life and accomplishments the only way they know how. This typically happens with "smart" people.

You breeze through life skipping steps that most people take and get to the result faster thus separating yourself from your peers. Since they haven't been able to do that they label you as "smart" and based on how society views smart people they cannot criticize your results for fear of being labeled "stupid". So they call you "lazy", thinking if had his brain i would go far, after awhile you start to believe this and you begin to think of yourself as lazy. Once you label yourself in a certain way it becomes very easy to justify anything aligning with that label. So in sense maybe you do become lazy but you never were.

What they developed and you didn't was a sense of accomplishment and pride from action that may not have had any purpose. So to move forward and release this label form yourself you can't struggle against your current reality.

An effective strategy to add satisfaction to your life is too think about your dream life. Everyone has one and by definition it has to be satisfying. Once you understand what type of life would satisfy you. You can work backwards and add those elements into your day so that each day allows you to move forward on the things that would make you satisfied.

In other words you no longer take action to make money, or build businesses, or whatever. You now take action because you want to be satisfied (and you know you want this because you wrote the post looking for a solution to the problem of being unsatisfied).

It is like IM you have to do solid keyword research first and once you found a good market the rest almost takes care of itself because if you find a profitable market you have more money to invest in better tools, better people, etc.

This daily mix can and will change with your tastes. Come back and post after 180 days of living the elements that make up your ideal life and you will be blown away at your own results and you will actually appreciate them.

That is my take. Hope it helps.

Lao Tsu said: "A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step".
Being a brilliant procrastinator I totally understand your dilemma. I found that positive affirmations work and to stop the negative self talk I put an elastic band around my wrist and give myself a tiny little ping as a reminder to stop. Immediately replace the neg thought with a positive one, even if it just to say: "I am getting better and better on a daily basis, I am making progress."
Take little steps every day, make a list and tick off one or more tasks, make sure that you don't beat yourself up if you are having a "no doing day". Just keep going, and give yourself little rewards for achieving some goals.
Success is not always measured by how much money you make, but how happy and content you can be, ask yourself what you really want, how much does it mean to you to achieve it and then take that one step towards it. Be grateful, you are one lucky person to be able to do whatever you set your mind to, there are already so many things to be happy about, I have not been able to give up chocolate, or coffee.

I have had the same problem in my life and have found that setting small goals every day like many others have mentioned is the way to go. I used to often set goals that would take many years to achieve and then they would seem unattainable. Now that I have broken them down, it seems much easier to get through each day. If you do not believe in yourself, no one else will either!! I wish you the best of luck and the success you surely deserve.

Hey, it take 21 days to change a habit. Stick to it for 21 days and it will begin to become a habit. You dont have limiting belifes if you say that. that is what manifest period.

Riz You have a focused mind your displined and you stick to your goals. Goals are normally assositated in the mind as negative because we have failed to achieve them. so change goals to outcomes what outcomes do you want after 21 days and stick to it. Why do you want those outcomes and what actions steps will you take to get your outcomes.

Here are two great resources about reprogramming your subconscious beliefs.

      subconscious-mind.info
      zpointforpeace.com

The subconscious-mind site has some more information on how the subconscious works and gives some great background information. The premise of the method on this site is to use some nightly audio programs that you create (its just you saying one phrase) and listen to all night, and this implants the new belief in around 10 days. If you have limiting beliefs installed, you need to deprogram those first using a removal program, then you can program in positive, beneficial beliefs.

The Z Point Process is a much quicker method but may need to be repeated several times to work successfully, depending on how deep the belief goes. A combination of the two works wonders. The website was recently re-done and I am not sure if you can get all the same material, but if you search on yahoo or google video you can find the instructional videeos that teach you the basic methods.

An important point to emphasize for anyone who wants to reprogram their beliefs: Before you can program positive beliefs, you have to get rid of the negative/limiting ones! If you already have beliefs installed then it may not matter how hard you try to change that belief, it may never allow you to insert new programming. This is not always the case, but you always have the safest bet running removal programs first.
