Mind Over Matter is Bull.

Simply having the right thoughts and mentality does not transpire into success and wealth. If I just think that I will succeed without taking any visible actions or doing anything about it, I'll end up a mental retard.

If times are hard, it just means I must work even harder. If I have no money, I just have to sell whats valuable to me for cold, hard cash. If I want to build up my income stream, I have to plan out a realistic income stream and press forward.

Simply thinking about it solves nothing.

It's the action that "Matters", not the "Mind"

Matter Over Mind is the new rule in IM.

Without the "right" mindset and beliefs, it's like trying to steer a boat left when it's locked on going right. You probably will make some progress however it would be significantly easier with the aforementioned.

That said, I 100% agree that action is important: You won't get anywhere without it.

It's not an "either/or" proposition, both mindset, beliefs, AND action are the important ingredients.

I just can't see anyone truly successful doing so without having the mindset down first.

The best examples of this gone wrong are lottery winners who get a bucket load of cash, then blow it because they don't know how to manage it whatsoever. The money was there, but the mindset wasn't.

Of course action is needed, though. But it's a duality of acting AND thinking that makes the success a true reality.

Some new IM'ers try the matter over mind approach, spending tons of time and money on projects - perhaps even making a bit of $$ now and again - but few, if any, really make it. It's only really those few who take the time to get their mindset straight from the start and then take action who really succeed long term.

Every high level (6, 7 and 8 figure) marketer I've connected with preaches about mindset and success programming. Then they talk about proper action, but it is second to having the proper mindset and thinking.

To successful people this is not theory, it's reality. You need that mindset as you push through with action in order to experience the true and complete portrait of success.

My interpretation of mind over matter:

Every action starts with a thought, you need the right thoughts to create the right action.

        Just my take.

bah thats the problem ..mind over matter ..

the Us is in serious trould because so many leader are highly intelecual but divorced from the reality of what is going on ..

your mindset determins the actions you take ..but it is also quite common for people to work from two different and opposing sets of beliefs ..

mind over matter is bullshit..i destroyed my physical health and then had everything else fall apart ..by not knowing how to listen to my body ..

in certain situations there is an amount of pain that you have to push through to get better ..and in many others the pain is your body telling you you really need to do something different ..ir something is very wrong ..

anyway most of what you think are your thoughts are not anyway..you have colected a klong list of highly marketed beliefs of others ..

your mind is most likely messed th f up ..

the way you think and your beliefs ..and how closely you actually follow the beliefs you espouse ..

your mindset ..and your dominant thoughts determin everything .

so mind over matter might be bull.

    but mind matters

Having the right mindset will make you want to take action.

Why wouldn't you want to take action if you knew that you could do anything!

    Cheers,

Train your mindset and then set personal and business goals, and achieve them, then repeat, because that's the key - balancing the two.

When you can achieve balancing your personal and business life, taking action will become truly fun - you won't have to think about it, you'll just do it.

You have obviously missed the point of the axiom completely.

What does "Mind Over Matter" even mean? Depends on who you ask...

    - willpower can overcome physical obstacles
    - the power of the mind to control and influence the body and the physical world generally
    - thought is stronger than physical things

We are cognitive beings, which means that like most animals we think before we act.

So your premise that actions matter more than the mind is completely flawed.

As before any action (good, bad or indifferent) there is a conscious (sometimes subconscious) thought first.

How do you act before having a thought first? Please explain.

Epilogue: As stated by many above it requires the right mindset before you take proper action to succeed.

Thought + No Action = Failure

Thought + Wrong Action = Failure

Thought + Right Action = Success

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this point and the reason most don't take any action.

It is what's often referred to as "Paralysis of Analysis".

To clarify it even better here are some famous quotes:

There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.

      John F. Kennedy

      --------

Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity from stagnation... even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind.

      Leonardo da Vinci

      --------

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage.

If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.

      Dale Carnegie

      --------

So don't just sit there... go out and dominate. NOW!!!

when i read part of this book several years ago the main thing i remeber about .. is once you put in the time and develop an expertise in something.. you can bypass a huge amount of the thinking and analytical function you need to imploy as you build the expertise ..

the ideal is to use your mindset and reatrain your thinking to do more productive things automatically

Yes, some of us over think. That's nothing new.

That used to be me, actually. I studied philosophy at school so over thinking was my job for a while lol

But i grew out of that pretty quickly when i realized that success requires a strong foundation of action and mindset. None of us are getting ahead on action alone, and none who rely on mindset alone are going to succeed. Using either rather than both leads to trouble. It just doesn't work like that.

Over thinking...analysis paralysis...whatever you want to call it, it does happen but it's separate from what we now understand to be the core principles of success.

At the very core focused action and mindset are the two very basic things needed to get ahead. I just don't see any other way around that.

While you are correct that thoughts and mentality doesn't transpire into success and wealth, having positive thoughts and positive mentality will increase your chances of making something work simply because you will push yourself on. Needless to say, if you keep doing the same thing that fails you will never succeed. What has given me results was persistence, but also letting go of things that don't work and trying something new. I built a website that had potential, but I had no idea when it's going to make me money and how I will get traffic. Talking to my pessimistic friend about it, he told me he thinks it will fail. Now, 9 months later, it's grossing me $7000 a month, and it's still growing. If I had the pessimistic mentality of my friend, I would have never gotten to this point.
