Role Models, Saints, KanGuru's and God

Hi Warriors,

Just some words of inspiration from my lighthearted take on life.

It can difficult sometimes, knowing who to trust for advice. After all we have probably been scammed once or more in our lives. The press is full of stories of our heros becoming embarrassments.

We have all tried to follow in the footsteps of role models that we admire.

If we are religious that could be the model of a religious leader, saint or kanguru.

If you are not, then that role model could take the form of a successful celebrity, a family member or friend.

Whatever the case may be, we have all whether we like it or not, looked up to someone that we want to be like one day.

If you were to study the success of our role models from start to finish, you will find they all share something in common. They have all made countless mistakes.

Whether they are kangurus, saints, celebrities, entrepreneurs, models, actors, sportsmen, your mum dad and dog. They have all made tons and tons of mistakes. They also share something else very important in common.

They have all learnt from their mistakes too.

Some religions talk about God being almighty and perfect, the ultimate creator. Some people may never consider God as a role model, as you only have to look at the countless suffering, wars and poverty around this planet and think, how can a perfect God create such an imperfect world?

I like to hold a different view on the word God that I feel is personally more constructive and encouraging for me. I like to think God is a perfect vision of what you would most honestly like to be from the bottom of your heart.

In order to do this, I wrote down the key areas of my life and dreamed up what I would most like each area to look like. This was a process of visualization. Visualizing my dreams.

To make it even more literal. I wrote it all down as a letter to myself from the future saying exactly what my life was like then. I talked about, what my family would look like, what my kids would be like, what my career would be in and how much money I had in the bank!

Most of all, I wrote in detail how it would actually feel having accomplished each area of my dream life. Then I began to see things more clearly.

Suddenly I could see how my own life was lacking in those areas and ways to get to my dream life suddenly opened up infront of me. It was as though the universal ether was guiding me to my dream.

This enabled me to create goals and form a map of tasks and routines that I could plan to get to my dream.

I have made countless mistakes, but I have started to learn from my mistakes and instead of just wallowing in a rut like I used to, I no longer see them as depressing failures.

Instead I see them as encouraging feedback and lessons on how to be better next time.

I don't have that fear like I used to because I now have a plan with specific and small goals that lead to my dream life.

As long as I keep on trying and taking positive action, I no longer have to worry that I wont reach my dream life.

Of course sometimes I veer off the path, especially when things get really difficult or I get distracted from the plan. But I keep my plan right infront of me, infact stuck to my wall, so it's the first thing I see when I wake up. This is because all role models who are successful all pretty much did the same.

They had big dreams for their lives. They tried, they made mistakes, they tried again with a different strategy and then succeeded. They also all share three things in common:

• They took action when many other people were to scared or lazy too.
• They followed their heart at all costs with a careful plan that led to their dream

And most of all
• They never gave up!

Who are your top five role models, saints, kanguru's, celebs, family members that you admire, look up to, that give you motivation and help you stay on the right path??

Mine are in no paticular order:

My immediate family
Anthony Robbins
Deepak Chopra
Swami Ambikananda (runs Mukti foundation)
My best friend James Rushent who was homeless as a kid, never had a penny to his name growing, left school at 12, but now is in a famous band and has his first platinum disc after producing The Prodigy's recent album!

P.S (are kanguru's the new goobers?)
