The Battle for Your Inner Mind (Ideas that will help you WIN)
Why do I call it a battle?
Because the inner mind is like a raging war between two sides that are constantly at odds. You have the one side that is your limiting beliefs, fighting to keep you exactly where you are, and the other side which are your dreams, fighting to make you take action on the things you most desire in life.
No matter who you are or how successful you believe you will become, we all have limiting beliefs that have been instilled in us since we were children.
Many of them come from our parents and educational system- people who may have meant well and did the best they could with what they had, but seriously messed up our minds in the battle for getting what we want.
Consider this: It's a scientific fact that human beings are born with only 2 fears. One is the fear of loud noises, and the other is the fear of falling. Every other fear you have in life, big or small, is something that you learned along the way.
Those fears become your limiting beliefs in a lot of ways.
Jordan Belfort says that the only thing holding us back from what we want is the bullshit story we tell ourselves about why we can't have it.
And as someone who has spent thousands of hours reading, listening, studying, researching, talking to myself, thinking over complex topics, and ultimately fighting to win the battle of my inner mind; I wanted to share some thoughts with other warriors out there.
Because THIS is not easy. In fact, I would venture to say that most people do not get what they want in life not because they don't have talent, not because they aren't smart enough, and not because they don't have a work ethic...but because they don't know how to win the battle for their inner mind.
Many inspired, young entrepreneurs have walked this path only to give up along the way because they could not conquer their limiting beliefs.
That is to say they kept telling their self a "bullshit story" about why they were not able to succeed, which was really just fear disguised as a limiting belief about what was possible in their life.
When I was broke and nearly homeless, I had a powerful limiting belief that nobody would want to listen to me and it would be nearly impossible to become successful because of my situation.
I see this same limiting belief in different forms in most newbies. They believe that they can't be successful until they are already successful, which of course is a paradox that makes no sense. But the war in our mind fights to tell us that we aren't like the other person, and that they are successful because of some type "luck" or "genius" or "secret" they have.
The hypnosis that society sells us is that the successful people of the world are somehow special. And this is played out on us every day through media in a very subjective way, and it becomes a belief we may not even be aware we have.
But the truth is that everyone has to start somewhere. We compare ourselves wrongly to the successful people we see because we don't see them until they've already reached success, giving the illusion they came out of nowhere as an "overnight success".
In reality, those people were probably working for years and years to achieve the results they are just now starting to reap. And the examples of that are numerous throughout sports, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and almost anyone who rose to big time status.
The crucial point to remember here is that they were once nobody, working on a craft with a dream that other people probably laughed at and told them to quit, to "get a real job", to be "realistic"; and they had to overcome that limiting belief.
Even now 3 years later, only a few thousand dollars away from $1M in online sales, I have limiting beliefs that still wage war inside my mind.
Because as you become successful and conquer certain beliefs, other beliefs will still be there to take their place and keep the battle going.
It's just human nature. We conquer the belief that we're not good enough to succeed, and then we wonder if we're good enough to keep our success and make it last. We conquer the belief that we can't build a company from scratch, and then we wonder if something could come along and take it all away. And on it could go...
That's not to say that you're not always trying. But why is it that 90% of people fail at being an online entrepreneur?
Is it because they don't get lucky? Is it because they don't find the right system? Is it becasue they don't know how to get traffic? Is it because they don't have enough money?
No- those are all the "bullshit stories".
Most people fail at being an online entrepreneur EVEN THOUGH in their heart of hearts there's nothing they want more than to succeed, because they don't realize the limiting beliefs that are holding them back.
And that's why I wanted to write this, in hopes to help even one person out there struggling to fight a war they're not even aware of. Because this is the hardest part- if you can conquer this, you can win success.
Not that you'll never have a limiting belief again, but that you'll know how to overcome it and get what you want.
And sure there are lots of personal development and self-help guides out there. But I just want to be real with you here- not give you some metaphysical Law of Attraction nonsense that works for a select group of hyper-sensitive people.
The Law of Attraction never worked for me. So don't think you're doing something wrong if you can't get what you want with all the affirmations and vision boards. It's not you.
And don't ignore your limiting beliefs either, acting as if you're better than them and will succeed by not focusing on them.
You need to confront yourself.
You need to get personal with yourself. You need to stare at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself the difficult questions about why you're not succeeding, the questions you don't want to answer.
You need to be your harshest critic and face your fears.
Once you face your fears, they teach you a lesson and let you move on. It's not easy to confront them because mental work is the hardest type of work out there. Most people run from mental work. But it's the path to success.
Because once you conquer your fears, you can focus on the plan.
The problem I see so many people having is they like to listen to successful people, recite things from the law of Attraction, and get this feeling that it's all going to work out for them.
Like oh I read Think and Grow Rich, now I'm destined to make a lot of money because I wrote my definitive goals down...
And that's unfortunately just not true. Don't be fooled by all the biggest "gurus" out there- sure the Law of Attraction is valuable in teaching many great principles, but all of those "gurus" are also MASTERS of their craft.
They didn't get to be successful simply by wishing for it. Many of them want you to think it was that simple, but make no doubt- they had a plan and they devoted monomaniacal focus to that plan.
Where the battle for your inner mind is really won is in having a plan, a STRATEGY, not a vision board. Because a vision board, or an affirmation, without an actual road map to get there is just nonsense. It's wishful thinking- anyone can do that.
The difference that separates the greats is a willingness to become masters of their craft. A willingness to practice and devote thousands of hours to learning a few key skills that are needed to get them from where they are to where they want to be.
And that should be really reassuring to you.
Because the battle of your inner mind is won in repetition of learning.
How did I go from broke and nearly homeless to running a $1M online empire from home? When I was broke and nearly homeless, I set about to the task of learning something new everyday.
I didn't wish for it, I didn't sit around and pray, I didn't have any affirmations I chanted every day. I committed to learning something new every day, telling myself that it was a logical conclusion that the more I learn, the more I will naturally draw closer to succeeding.
It sounds so simple, but let me ask you this. Are you devoting yourself to reading or learning something new in your craft everyday, or are you browsing the internet trying to find the next answer or solution to your problem?
I was in that exact position once, and I know most entrepreneurs are there. It's why they have no sales in their business- because they're focused on the wrong things.
That's the battle for the inner mind- learning what to focus on. And if you can, it will crush limiting beliefs, it will propel you in the right direction, and it will make life so much better for you.
But again, it's not easy. We're bombarded every day by stuff that wants to steal our focus. And that's why it's a battle- because most stuff that is trying to steal our focus is connected to a limiting belief.
That's why 90% of society works for 10%. Because 90% are listening to the mass media hypnosis that this world is sold on a daily basis, and it keeps them stuck in their own limiting beliefs.
It's not a conspiracy theory, it's just reality. If you want to achieve time freedom and financial independence, you are going to have to separate your THOUGHTS from the normal mainstream thoughts of modern society.
I want you to be able to achieve massive results, so I hope this is helping break through some fog for you.
Once I realized my partner and I were about to hit $1M in sales, I looked it up. And the statistic is crazy- less than 1% of entrepreneurs ever start a business (online or offline) that reaches a million in sales.
We're about to do it in less than 3 years, and it was so much easier than I could have ever predicted. So I know you can do it too in whatever your business is.
Want to know how?
Forget the Law of Attraction.
Forget what the "gurus" are selling you.
Start focusing on learning something within your core craft every single day.
No matter what business you're in, you should be focusing on Marketing, Sales, and Leadership. Even if you can just get "good enough" in those 3 things, then you'll soar to the top.
You need to become a SELLER not a buyer. That's an important transition in your mindset. Because all business is based on actually selling something and making money.
And you need to realize that you have limiting beliefs- find them, learn about them, and confront them.
Talk to yourself, spend time with yourself, and get to know who you are. That's the best way to overcome those limiting beliefs.
Sounds simple? It's not. Try it for a month, and you'll see that most days we can get swept up in our daily routines and go from wake up to sleep without even taking a minute to pause and reflect on whether or not we're in control of what we want for that day.
You need to focus on this concept and really apply it to make it work for you. The idea is simple, but requires extreme focus to stick with long enough to see results. Because the things that are simple to do are also simple NOT to do.
Dedicate yourself to constantly evaluate who you are and what you want, because as you do that it will make you WANT to learn the things that you need to learn to get the things you want to get.
And that's how success is made- in learning and applying the yourself to new concepts on daily basis, not getting stuck in the same affirmation that keeps you repeating a pattern of stagnancy.
That's how you win the battle of the inner mind.
I can't understate the importance of this, and it's why I wanted to share these thoughts. Most people aren't teaching this in online marketing, they just talk about traffic and CPA, and all these quick-fix methods to make $50 a day.
If you want to be TRULY successful and build an automated business that allows you to really live the life you want, instead of constantly chasing the next strategy to keep up with the market, then you need to master these principles.
These are money-getting, life-shifting ideas that are so simple they are overlooked by the majority of people out there.
Wishing you success!
