How do I Consistently Stay at the Top of Things?

Hi warriors,
I seem to be postponing some daily routine, repetitive tasks. I try to inspire myself a lot ( currently reading "See you at the Top" by Zig Ziglar).

I find myself not having a productive day when I have something that is weighing me down. However much I try to remain focused, I procrastinate a lot, and concentrate on the tasks that are not so important.

Initially, I was very passionate and focused. I was writing an article in two days, now I take even more than a month to write a single article! Was just wondering, when the demands of life become more, does the productivity necessarily have to come down?

dee4d, you choose the right mentor by reading Zig's stuff.

Being discipline is very important ingredient to achieve success.

    My advise is:
    1. Plan your week ahead,
    2. Allow at least 10 minutes a day for yourself.
    3. Decide what time and how long are you going to spend reading emails and facebook. For example 18:00 - 18:30 everyday.
    4. Self talk to yourself, give yourself motivation. You can use Ziglar's self talk cards to help you started. you can get it at www. ziglar.com/selftalk
    5. If you are in writing articles, allocate 1-2 hours in the beginning of the week to write freely about the topics/title of the article you want to write for the week, try to write the topics 3x more than your initial target.
    6. Allocate a few hours to do do research for all the topics, categorized them and save.
    7. When you start writing, disconnect from the internet, and rely on your research.

Goals...short term, mid term, long term, daily, weekly, monthly, annual, personal, financial...keep setting and meeting goals.

Goals give you your direction and essentially become the paving stones on your foot path to success as you accomplish and tick off each goal at its strategic stage!

However the most essential aspect is meeting your goals and getting done the important things that need to get done, which is where your current struggle is!

Prioritize your day, develop concentration and focus, and do not move or start anything else until your first priority is complete!

This is a skill set that will need developing but is something that gets easier to do when your first accomplishments bring new enthusiasm!

Tap into your reasons! The reasons you have set your goals and continuously think about how your life will be when your reasons are fulfilled!

You know what helps me when I start being unproductive? I surround myself with friends that want to motivate me and want to push me to new boundaries. Having support can make a difference on whether you are going to do that grind or goof off. Also when you wake up remind your self why you are doing it! Why you want change in your life! Ask yourself when demands in life become harder are you going to give up? The answer is no you will not let demands of life get to you. My father said life is like a game there will always be challenges. The key is knowing how to solve the challenge and move on to the next one. Don't let life beat you.

The one and the only way so you can be always on top of the things is to clear your mind. And how you will do that?

By listening music, reading some books or practice spirituality. If you try to mix this techniques, you will fell another You in side of You.

You will always be in balance and you can focus 100% on the things you do!

here's what works for me.. Sit down for a minute and think of all the negative consequences of not doing what you need/want to do. What negative effects it will bring to your relationships, personal development, wealth .. and so on.

And then think of the positive consequences of doing this task right now. And find some bright and positive effects it will bring to all areas of your life.

After completing this technique I feel my self motivated to do the task right now!

    Hope it helps!

I trip deep in my subconscious in a quest for answers. I confabulate with it twice a week under a mesmeric spell. When the session is done, the mind works in the backround and more often than not, the answer resurfaces within days, or weeks. I talk to the subconscious as if it is an autonomous entity. Hence I developed a "dual self" and the power comes two fold.

Sometimes life can get overwhelming and sometimes, more often then not we put alot of pressure on

    ourselves. Too much infact.

It is almost impossible to stay at the top of things without taking care of yourself first.

Let's face it, no matter how much you try to stay at the top of things, your inbox will always be full.

Meaning-there will always be something to do and remember that tomorrow is another day.

    Definitely time out is important.

I do at least 10 minutes of gentle relaxation breathing with music. It keeps me on top of what I can do

that day and even then I never get it all done.

Don't over-list or over goal yourself. This will definitely be counter-productive.

It's great to dream big but do what is simple and achievable first.

There is too much magic bullet stuff going on out there....ignore most of it....things happen gradually

and with persistence. Hope this helps Jennifer

Yeah I am sure we are all guilty of it, but remember that life is like that. You do something and then

you realize when it is not working for you, you need to create it differently.

It is only by living through these contrasts that we truly decide what do we want. That is life and

always never-ending....I learn to embrace it.

I want to share what I have gain this year after I start to practice spirituality...

At the beginning I start to read some books who are slowly guide me on that journey, then I start to read some articles and watching some movies. After that I start to meditate 10 min per day and I start to feel so many changes. The first thing that disappeared was the fear. The feeling was amazing!

After a few months I discover that the pray is even more powerful then meditation, but if you want to have an honest pray then you should clear you consciousness. And if you want to clear you consciousness, you have to meditate!

Delegate your tasks to key outsourcers and automate anything if possible.

There are some very efficient people out there, just reach out and track them.

This is systematic of many people and overcoming this negative habit is a crucial step in overcoming a negative barrier holding us back from our success.

We need to focus on the reasons...the reasons we want to get these important tasks done. Build up a significant desire to achieve and be successful. Focus on the life we will be living when we have built up our positive habits momentum and the results are flowing in abundance!

When structuring your day list out the 5 or 6 most crucial activities that need to be done that day, develop the concentration and focus to get these tasks done with faith and enthusiasm.

Act in The Certain Way everyday (as detailed by Wallace D. Wattles) and you create a momentum towards the results you want!

    Hello dee4ds,
To always get on top of things you should use a ladder
But, beeing serious now, reading this post, I can see myself a few years back.
Here`s what did the job for me:
Try to set daily goals. Create a spreadsheet, a calendar, or a journal and each day before you go to sleep write down the activities that you wish to do the next day and an estimate time you want to allocate for them.
If you are like me, thinking on negative aspects versus good consequences if you will or will not procrastinate will only make things worse (I tend to panic a lot).
Use baby steps, first set daily goals, and then go further, setting weekly goals and so on.
The satisfaction alone of achieving this small goals can do wonders for your morale and your productivity.

I really hope this advice will work for you as it worked for me

OP, do you have a big enough WHY?

Motivation is like weather. It comes and goes. But if you have a big Why, it pulls you along.

Most people don't even know why they get into the online marketing business. They don't even know why they get a job for that matter (some old Earl Nightingale recordings will demonstrate to you this has been going on forever.)

If you're here because you want to "try and make some money" it won't last.

Business grows exponentially not linearly, which means you won't see the results you expect. It's very slow at the start and for awhile.

Can you see how if you're depending on linear growth feedback and emotional motivation to continue putting in effort, you're going to end up disappointed? And sooner rather than later?

It isn't "the demands of life" that is slowing you down. It's your lack of a Why.
