Many times, people focus on what they don't want, rather than on a concrete goal. They normally think in terms of fear. You may be afraid of being poor, afraid no one will respect you, or afraid of being alone.

The problem you face when thinking like this is that fear alone isn't actionable. Instead of doing something about your fear, the fear feeds on itself, and usually drains your motivation.

If you become caught up in fear-based thinking, you should try focusing that energy on a well-defined goal. If you do this, you automatically define a set of actions. If you're afraid of being poor, create a plan to increase your income. It might be going back to school, obtaining a higher paying job, or developing a profitable website. The key is moving from an indefinable desire to tangible, measurable steps.

If you focus your mind on positive goals instead of fear, you put your brain to work creating a plan for success.

You are no longer worrying about the future. Instead, you're beginning to do something about it

Jack, no definite plan, just trying to conquer, and overcome my fears by doing the things I'm afraid of

I must agree that the fear is the first enemy of the soul!

Most of the people fail to achieve their dreams just because they are afraid that they will not succeed. The first time when you have decide to make something different in your life, start first with yourself. Start to analyse your thoughts, action and emotions. These are the most important things and if you are not able to see them clearly, then you can never succeed.

When you start to managing your thoughts, then they will become your actions and if you are able to control that be sure that you will always have a positive energy who will drive to the the path of success.

the fears you have reside on the time frame of your thinking ..much of the world population is still in a day to day struggle to survive ..week to week or at most month to month ..

past that most people have their faith in something out of their control .. corperations governments..god ..

and many people fears are promoted or instilled by the place the work for the government or religion ..

how often does one of these organization try to use fear to get you to do what they want you to do ,,

fear and guilt .. the governments want you to work as much as possible ..because you are a slave..er taxpayer..and they get a part of your earnings ..the corparation..want you to work ..and pay you as little as they can and use threats of firing you to get you to do what they want .. relgion..be good or go to hell ..

it is hard to deal with fear ..unless you actually understand who is behind this fear and what they gain from it ..

if you want to know where many of your fears come from i would suggest studying marketing and business

Great contribution...this is an essential aspect of attaining worthwhile success! We are to programmed as a society to be risk averse, which causes us to constantly focus on risk and potential hazards and keep coming up with arrays of contingency plans.

We need to establish resolve, conviction in our goals and confidence to step out each day to achieve and achieve well!

Yes, the results of our life is the results of our thoughts. What we focus on would expand. It is called the law of attraction.

Fear really sucks because it paralyzes you from taking action.

I used to be afraid of what people think. Now, to be honest it still bothers me a little but not enough to stop moving forward.

I am not just talking about marketing. I am talking about every area of life.

Yes, it does start with goals. Once you see small successes that helps boost confidence. I find confidence is the antithesis of fear.

What really helps me are listening to the higher thinkers like Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn etc. And hanging out with positive people.

my views have evolved over the past year .. the only people who fear being poor are rich people .. they use fear to motivate them not to hide and huddle in a corner .. it gets them out of bed every morning to do what they need to do ..

that is the purpose of fear or natural fear.. but many fears that result in inaction are survival based fears that are out of place with modern realities ..

most people fear the wrong things the food you eat and bad medical car of the illnesses you get from eating the food you eat..are the things you should fear the most.. but it won't stop you buying the crap in a box that says low fat or healthy ..

i moved to las vegas in march with 2500 bucks a suitcase a carryon .. and no idea what i was going to do.. and been hours to days away from being homeless several times ..first time i faced homelessness and hid .. it was sheer luck things worked out .. never again.. i found a way to make money that got me a place and i will work as much as i can ..

use your fear to motivate you ..and fear the things you can do something about ..not the boogie men

I realized that fear got the best of me of meeting women. Then got my hand deep in the cookie jar of hypnosis. Two weeks later I met a special lady that seems to be a perfect match for me. All due to the machinations of the Cosmic Master.

It's like being surgically implanted with commands that the subconscious has to obey. She told me I was cool (thought I was hot?). Plus I'm being noticed. So motivated to do things, never to cross my mind before.

    Yes, I agree.

When You ask someone a question like "what do you want out of life?" I've noticed that the typical answer is something in the line of "I DON'T want to work that same boring job for the next 10 years" or "I DON'T want to be poor" or "I DON'T want to be alone" etc.

People get hung up about the things they DON'T want in their lives. But what usually happens, the more they think about the things they don't want in their lives, the more energy they focus on those things and whether they like or not, the more they start to see the things they don't want in their lives.

I think Tony Robbins said it best: "Where focus goes, energy flows!"

So in my opinion, it would only make more sense to think about the things you DO want in your life and focus on those. Think specific goals and dreams. Create a vision board for example if you like. The more you think about your actual dreams and goals, rather then the things that you don't want, the more you start to attract opportunities that help you achieve them!

Good point about redirecting your focus.

If anyone's looking for a shortcut to doing this, here's what works for me: train your sights on a FOCUS magnet.

It can be a picture, a small figurine, or even the logo of your notebook computer.

As long as you can train your focus on it when you're feeling particularly LAZY, CONFUSED, or PRONE TO PROCRASTINATION.

Take a deep breath then quickly REMEMBER your TASK for that moment.

    Focus again

    And get back to work.

WORKS LIKE A CHARM FOR ME!
