Struggling Marketers - Go Hard Or Go Home

I went through my fair share of B.S.

I know what it's like to buy a product thinking your going to make $100 a day and instead you end up losing $100 a day. I know what it's like to stay up all night implementing a shiny new method only to find out that the method is flawed and saturated.

However, once I was exposed to the methods and business models that were proven and tested, success came to me pretty fast.

There are two main ways to achieve success with online marketing. You can force your way to success through hard work, determination, and perseverance. This route is filled with road-bumps, dead-ends, roadblocks, and detours. However, if you keep your foot on the pedal, eventually you may reach your destination or in other words, achieve some form of success.

The problem with that is the unpredictability of how long it will take before you start achieving any success. It took me about 6 years to achieve the same amount of success that should've taken me 3 months or less.

The second option is to reverse-engineer or even better, work 1-on-1 with someone who has already achieved the kind of success you would like to achieve. Reverse-engineering is your best bet if you simply don't have the funds to spend on personal 1-on-1 coaching. You also have the option of group coaching which might be more affordable.

Reverse-engineering would consist of you finding someone who has achieved the success you would like to achieve and breaking down his/her business model into a step-by-step plan of action.

However, nothing beats real 1-on-1 personal coaching where you literally get to speak to the person and get direct and actionable coaching. The great thing about having a mentor who you work with closely is that you won't have to waste your valuable time figuring things out (that have already been figured out by others in the past). You can simply just tell your coach what you want to achieve and he/she will tell you the steps he/she took to achieve that, and all you need to do is simply follow directions and take consistent massive action.

If someone is telling you exactly what you need to do to achieve your goals, then it would only make sense to take massive action, because the more action and the faster you take action, the faster you will get results.

I've done the trial and error thing, I've tried reverse-engineering, and I've tried 1-on-1 coaching. Hiring someone to work with me 1-on-1 in my online business has by far always been the fastest and most effective way to boost the results in my business.

Obviously once you get to a certain level of understanding the online marketing game you won't really need a coach, but even then it's still beneficial to have someone in your corner assisting you with staying focused and holding you accountable for taking action.

Online marketing is already hard enough, why try to go at it alone when you could just save up some money and hire someone to help you.

Imagine going to school with no teacher. Would you even take school seriously?

Well, it's the same thing with online marketing. When you spend your hard-earned money on a coach, you automatically start to take online marketing extremely serious. You will find yourself waking up early, working harder, and focusing with more intensity.

Stop letting your fear of losing money hold you back from investing in yourself. If you're serious about online marketing you better be ready to "Go Hard Or Go Home".

I’m sure that there are the few success stories out there where Internet marketing coachs helped turn struggled people into riches story. However the problem is that most Internet marketing coaches are either incapable of helping their clients or the clients never even give their coaches the chance to help them.

So I think the online marketing coaches will fail if:

    They are not enough experienced.
They don`t have enough time for their students.
They can`t guide their clients the right road-map.
They don`t care if their clients use the sessions or not and do their homework or not

My best wishes for all (Coaches and Students)

Great points here. You definitely have to make sure you do your research before investing in a coach. If you're going to be working with someone long-term it would be wise to make sure you're working with someone of high integrity, and someone who has proven that he/she has helped others achieve success.

Hey Trey, this post is so much gold and it happens to hit close to home for me.

I struggled a lot with trying to figure everything out on my own when I first learned about internet marketing.

Lo and behold, when I coughed up enough money to invest in a good course, and to invest in myself, I started seeing some results.

Investing in yourself is the greatest investment you can make - PERIOD.

I believe this to be true not just for internet marketing but for most things in life.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Well said Daniel. Most people don't realize that buying a ton of cheap products and trying to figure things out by themselves will eventually lead up to a significant amount of money/time being spent unnecessarily. I know that I've spent thousands on wsos, clickbank products, and softwares when I could've just saved my money and got a coach from the start.

However, when I finally realized it was time to get a coach, I jumped at the opportunity because I saw an opportunity that was affordable but I soon realized that the reason the coaching was so affordable was because the guy wasn't actually a coach but a scam artist. He took my money and never delivered on any of the promises he made to me. He actually didn't do anything. He took my money and wouldn't respond to any of my messages.

So, it is important to make sure you do your research and make sure you find a coach/mentor who has your best interest in mind and has built a reputation based on integrity. Also, if you plan on working with somebody who really knows what he/she is doing, don't expect it to be cheap. Just think about some of the best doctors, lawyers, and therapists. Those who are really good at what they do can command a high price for their services because they're worth it. It's like buying a 2000 Toyota Corolla vs. a 2016 Ferrari, both vehicles can help you get from point A to point B, but the latter is faster, more reliable, more attractive, and provides the user with a top-notch experience.

It take money to make money but be smart about it! I always tell people to invest their time more than their money. You have to do both but time is far more important in the beginning. Throwing money at things wont make you rich.

I agree. A great book that touches on this is Daymond John's "The Power Of Broke".

For those of you who don't know who Daymond John is, he is the African American guy on ABC's "Shark Tank". The book tells stories of people who were able to start their businesses despite not having a tight budget.

I would love to have a coach with internet marketing. I have no way to pay for that at this point.

I often see programs like the one from Ramit Sethi's Earn 1K. It looks like a great program, but I don't have $1000 dollars for it at this point in my career.

Excellent Post Trey! I've thought of coaches recently like anything else. You wouldn't begin football without a coach, you wouldn't train for track without a coach, you wouldn't race bikes without a coach... It seems to me lately, ANYTHING in a competitive environment requires a coach.

I see this now, and am still on the fence believe it or not (maybe still hold on to a silly belief that I can do it all on my own). I do know I could do it all on my own, but then the management of time comes into question. Like you said, "six years should have taken three months". I get it, I really do.

Again, great post Trey. I may just PM you here in the next few days/weeks
