HEY!!! Hey You! Shiny New Thingy in Here!!! How to Finally Make Money Online!!
Yeah... sorry about that horrible thread title. But you're reading this, so I guess it got your attention, right?
I see a lot of people in the main forum still asking the same questions about how to make this internet marketing thing work for them. It reminds me of when I first landed in this forum and was trying to make sense of it all.
Looking back at the lessons I've learned over the years - lessons many experienced marketers in this forum tried to teach me but I had to learn it the hard way - the one thing that really held me back for years, was that I never stuck with a single strategy and focused all my energy on it.
Now I know some marketers are going to say that you should never put all your eggs in one basket and rather have multiple income streams. Look, that makes sense. When you're already coining it. But when you're first starting out, and you do what I did and run around trying to put eggs in 20 different baskets and you have no idea what you're doing, you're going to:
A) tire yourself out
B) make very slow, painful progress (if any)
C) see very little in results and returns from any of them
D) get discouraged and quit
Maybe put all those other baskets aside for later and choose one to run with for now, OK?
Seriously, for me, the biggest lesson I have learned to date is to make one strategy your core business and then focus on that strategy. Educate yourself in that strategy. Invest your time and resources into it. Become an expert at it. Aim to be the best at it. Heck, once you've done that, maybe you can come back here and sell us a WSO showing us how what you have done has worked for you.
I don't buy into the "fake it 'til you make it" way of doing things in this industry. Sure it may have worked for some, but I bet that for each individual who managed to "make it", there are thousands of others who got found out and had their reputations ruined, and gave the whole internet marketing jive a bad name too so now nobody trusts anyone.
Don't fake it. You know nothing. Don't deny it - own it and then do something about it. Take up a simple, uncomplicated, time-proven strategy and just keep working at it until you start seeing rewards. No, you probably won't make $409,823.29 by this time next week. But if you keep at it, you will start making sales and then you can build on that. One simple victory after another.
"But what strategy, dude?"
Dude, they're screaming at you from almost every page in this forum. Right here in this forum I read about a guy who knew nothing but somebody told him to build a list. So he focused all of his time and energy into building a list. He learned how to make a squeeze page. He learned how to set up an autoresponder. He learned how to research a topic and write an ebook to give away. He chose a niche and he researched it, studied it, became knowledgeable in it, and then wrote blog posts, articles and email newsletters about everything he knew and learned. Everything he did was focused upon building that list and feeding his subscribers with what they wanted. He didn't get distracted by other WSO's or other shiny new thingies, but if a WSO came along that would help him build his list, he invested in his education. But if it had nothing to do with his core focus which was building his list and feeding his list, he ignored it. This guy started out with no knowledge and little money but he had an iron will to succeed and he did. He started slow but over time built his list to a couple thousand subscribers and all he does is profit off that list. After dedication to one strategy and hard work over a period of time, he is now in a position to "click a button and make money". He worked hard for it. He earned it.
Do you think you can do something like that? Of course you can! Pick a strategy, and focus all your energy into it.
Want to be a seller on WF and make money in the IM niche? Instead of fakin' it (and kidding yourself), invest your time and resources into learning everything you can about traffic generation (for example), then start a blog, get an affiliate product to sell, and then put into practice what you've learned about driving traffic to an offer. When you get results from what you've learned and can replicate it, then there's nothing stopping you from posting your own genuine WSO here showing your fellow journeymen what you did to generate traffic and earn from it.
That is one way this forum will continue to be a community of people sharing their successes with one another and building one another up.
So shiny new thingy here: Decide on a strategy and stick with it until you see results, and then build on it.
If anyone wants to share similar lessons / experiences, and what you focused on to start seeing success, please share.
