How Much Is Your Time Worth??

How much are you paying to anyone you are dealing with...?
Time is money, - remember?

So, if you value your time say...$50/hour, it means your one minute cost $0.83
So if you uphold pointless talk with someone for 10 minutes, you have just lost $8.3 dollars!

If your time is $100/hour, you gave up $16.60!

Ok, you got what I meant.

Value your time!!! ))

Have a great day,
George Grant

well the key there is when you are supposed to be working ..that is when you value your time like that..then there are the times people will ask you to do work..

then there is the work you may not want t do that you can hire others to do for much less than what you charge for your time ..'t get real wealthy selling your time unless you can charge a whole bunch o money for an hour or so

i am not an employee right now and i don't make a set amount every hour .. i work off tips and it is random ..i can make 5 bucks an hour or 45 bucks an hour ..

if you are going to expend effort to earn money .. or use time to save money that when you run things through the how much is your time worth screen..

there are many many people who have spent time making money and ignored their children ..or their partners ..and ended up with costly divorces or kids that hated them and thought their parent work money grubby greedy basterds ..

yes you should value time you set aside to work..i want to make this amount of money ..

but if you just become a slave to the getting of money and put a money value on every minute of the day ..and every human interaction ..

if you are working and you are trading time for money then you beter be getting the most value out of each hour of work..so you have time for other things ..

You are right on that. Money is a TOOL by which we operate and move things. It is also a SCORE that shows how well we perform in life.
But we must not do things for money, but only for PASSION of doing something we really LOVE. Working hard on doing things that you love! - thats the key! Then you will have energy and zest of life and everyone will benefit from such power. I for example do my internet marketing business because I simply love to do it, love creating educative products, design them, share my knowledge, etc. I am also an artist and I do my painting/design during other hours of the day. It is all about making your life FULL, live to 100% of what you can be!

Sometimes, I like pointless talking with a few of my very close friends. Takes the edge off, allows me to relax and escape the ever-present "must-be-productive" mentality. I believe it is healthy.

        Balance is key.

I personally don't like pointless talking about anything or with anyone. It doesn't mean I am expecting to be paid for talking to my close friends or members of my family - no! But it is not about "must be productive" all time but rather about "be truthful and make sense". Even in humor and laughter - you would laugh sincerely only about something which is really funny, not on stupid jokes, wouldn't you?

My initial OP was about the hint pointing us to remember to value our time and fill it with meaningful stuff.

Time is money?! In my opinion TIME is more Important than anything including Money, you can always make money, but you can't make more time.

Poor people are those who say they KILL Time!! while In fact they are killing themselves... Time is You!

Every minute that passes away takes you closer to your predetermined destiny...Death!

      Time>Health>Money

Time is all we have, so we need to use it properly.

I agree, time is more important than money - and that's exactly why I want to value it high!!! If I give away my precious time to something or someone that is not worth of it, I am losing "big time"! - both time and money.

doing work that excites and involves your passion is critical..

im not a fan of aiming directly at known passion..but more understand what make you passionate while you are doing something..

in my book and bye my defintion ..success starts when most of the work you do is because you are personally driven from something internal verse external monetary gain ..

but these i a period of time when getting started that you do have to openly and aggressivly exchange time for money ..in ways that might not be the most interesting and exciting ..and you should demand the most money you can from that time as well as limit it ..

eventually if your passions include creating thing people pay money for ..it is that point after you create some and sell it and make a good chunk of ching..where you say holy shiti get paid to do this ..

when trading time for money .. get the most value from it or money from it..but don't trade all of your waking hours for money

It's nice if you can be paid for doing what you love; something that consumes your attention so much that you lose track of time...

But most of us are still "working" towards that ideal, and so we have to portion our time into paid and unpaid amounts!

I do like to schedule complete days away from the computer - often turn the phone off as well. It's very good to "disconnect" for a while

    cheers,

    Jon.

Isn't it a little hard to tell if the talk is pointless or if it has an end goal that can help pay off in the end? I mean, asking about the weather is pretty aimless but if it gets the person interested in your your brand it is worth it.

Maybe I missed the point, though.

Hi Alex, my intention was to point to the fact that we must simply try not to waste our valuable time, as much as we possibly can. We won't always be perfect in doing that though, but we must try our best. True values of life are not in money of course. But money is simply handy visible tool to keep score/account of what and how productive we are. Like, - you do something valuable for people, and they are willing to give you in exchange part of their possession (money, time, physical goods, service, etc -even emotional attention and affection) for that.
P.S. Why ask about weather if you want to do business with someone? Just plain ask them something to the point - people value honesty!

I understand now. I agree with you absolutely. I'll never discount the power of repoire building, though.

Thanks for the reply. I am just returning to the IM life again and I appreciate learning from everyone.

I think it differently. Sometimes we spend time for our future growth and hence, it is not wise to weigh everything wr.t money.
Going by your concept, people will calculate how much money they lost while sleeping, while on the other hand, sleeping is most important for your health
