Hi mind warriors,

my mentor told me I had a lot of limiting beliefs I had to overcome

I think he is right, but I really have no clue how to overcome

Anyone got any lifestory to tell?

Did you overcome and how?

I'll be no end grateful for your answers

I will share a little bit of my story.

Starting out online I was probably where you are right now. I tried method after method. I was so lost and without direction on what I should be doing. I would start working on a project and just quit that project and move on to the next one. I learned quickly that if I wanted to make this online marketing thing work I would have to stick to something and follow through.

After working online for some time I fell in love with writing. I learned quickly that there were people willing to pay me to help them with content. With much hesitation I decided to take the chance. Although I knew I could make money writing content, I was afraid of dealing with clients. I kept thinking that I was not good enough and this would never work. I know it sounds weird, but it's something that held me back.

I set up a thread here on the forum and got a few clients, but before I even began doing the work for them I would come up with an excuse as to why I couldn't. So for some reason I kept on thinking that I was not good enough. Major limiting belief that kept me from taking action.

After this I went back to trying method after method. I started building review sites and driving traffic to them using blog commenting. I made some money with this, but shiny object problems starting taking over again. From there I switch to another method back down the rabbit hole.

If you look at my story the thing that you will realise is that I was the one that was holding back myself. Its a weird thing that I was reading about the other day. As humans we are actually afraid of being successful. I think its called the "Jonah complex". What it says is that we are afraid of success and self actualization. We're afraid of discovering our true potential.

After going through this again I became depressed I kept thinking "why are other people successful and I can't get it right". If you look at my story I was having a bit of success, but I kept doing what was working. I was looking for the easy way to make money online.

I was working two jobs through all of this.

The problem came the one Friday afternoon when my day job started telling us that they needed lay off some people. The company that I worked for at my day job was going through some problems and they were getting ready to close down the old business to start a new venture. Long story...

    Anyway....

I thought about my wife and the life that we started together and thought to myself I needed to make something work or we are going hungry.

Writing worked for me before so I knew that this is what I will have to go back to if I was going to make this work. I bumped my thread on the warrior forum and promised myself that I will make this work. I stuck to it and here we are. I have regular clients and my business is growing daily.

The limiting belief that held me back was thinking that I was not good enough. I kept thinking what if my writing is not good enough. I said that I would just get started and worry about getting better after. This is exactly what happened. The more clients I got, the more feedback I got and the more refined my skills became. I stopped thinking about tactics and tricks to making money and started looking at this like a real business.

When I changed the way that I thought about myself I began making more money. I stopped thinking that I wasn't good enough and just starting taking action. It's easier to keep reading instead of taking action.

The best quote that I learned online is "it's easier to make a decision right than to make the right decision". I live and breathe this when I am working online. I just take action now. If something does not work out I just start over.

Limiting beliefs will stop you from taking action. Just stop thinking and start doing. After a year of taking action you will be surprised to see how far you've come.

    Take care

it wasn't horrible ..but did kind of suck for 38 years ..i mean i have a lot of grey in my beard from all the stress and misery ..

plus now that i am starting to put the life i want together ..starting with my offline gig..that barely pays the rent and buys me some food.. but it isn't a job ..

anyway the first limiting belief to work on is the beliefs that beliefs are hard to change ..

all beliefs systems are bs ...

so you can either have a bunch of BS that makes your life better ..or you can keep the BS you have now that do not give you the life you want or get you closer to it ..

your beliefs show in where you spend money..when you have it ..and they show themselves after you use the word but ..

so you have your beliefs systems..that are BS and your real limiting beliefs start with but ..

i like being crazy .. trying to act normal..made my life hell for soo long ..

anyway.. they best way to stay poor or broke ..is to spend most of your time trying to make everything make cents err sense

thank both of you for sharing ....
yes, the belief that I am not good enough is very limiting, it kept me back and is still keeping me from a lot of things. I still catch myself thinking .."they will not take me seriously. I am not a real ..., I am not good at this"

plus great thought here, the most limiting belief is believeing limiting beliefs cannot be changed

I have come a long way myself, starting out as a social worker to being a full time entrepreneur now

    I overcame a lot

I still have a long way to go

a lot of successful people will have that i am not good enough belief in the back of their mind..it is not a limiting belief..unless of course you get trapped in that line of thinking and give up or play small ..

again you get to write your beliefs and control the spiral of thinking ..

alter the train of bs .. ..so when you have that initial i am not good enough belief ..but i can get better, and i can do this this this or that ..

then of course you have to ask the real question..do i want to get better at this ..and avoid blowing smoke up your own ass ..

there are many areas of your life you can work too improve ..

also remember a hell of a lot of your beliefs are there because of huge amounts of marketing ..so there is a big chunk of your belief system

Here's my story. (not intended to sell you anything just easier & shorter)

One thing that has helped me overcome limiting beliefs is the realization that I wasn't made...

Meaning (not in a religious context either) just like a tree apple's...the earth people's.

If I wasn't made and I'm growing out of this that means that whatever I surround myself with, believe, and demonstrate is purely my own.

Who's to tell you that you're not qualified? What's qualified mean (again in context, if you're a heart surgeon you better be qualified right?)

If you want it...do it. If you believe it...be it!

YOU ARE WHATEVER YOU SAY YOU ARE...that tree isn't really a tree, that's just what you call it. So if that's the truth...what are you calling yourself? I mean you believe the idea that the image you refer to as a tree is actually a tree...when in essence isn't not, it's just a plane of vibrations that you've labeled as "Tree."

So, what are you labeling yourself? Eckhart Tolle once said, "Try to go through your entire day without definitions, labels, or beliefs that something has to be something."

You are whatever you say you are...be careful what you say about who you are.

You got this man...just realize you are it, you're not this little person dropped off on spaceship earth...you are this, this is you, and you've got all the ideas.

    ...action will separate the outcomes.

    What you think you become...

There's a guy called "cosmic master" and he's a mentalist. Look out for him.

    He set me free.

Hope you will find this one to be useful for your own case. I used to follow blindly what my â€Å"writing mentors†have to say and suggest. Until one very good friend told me that is about time for me to do something on my own. Maybe, you are done reading other people’s life stories, and you should begin writing your own. I think that Hermann Hess said something like, you journey of self-exploration and true individual independence does not begin with the first YES, but actually with your first NO. Think about it. Cheers!

  • Well the root cause of most limiting beliefs is our internal programming. We are programmed by nature and by nurture.

the content on the radio and the TV is not called programming by accident ..how much limiting belief supporting messages are hidden in the music you listen to and the movies you watch ..even the stuff you search for online ..is stuff that caters to your limiting beliefs ..

human being up untill the last 10 years where born blank.. ready to be programed by the societies they where born into..but in the last 10 years not so blank.. kids have been born cable ..or internet ready ..

The first thing you have to do is to know yourself. I know it sounds cliche, but that's the truth. You have to be aware of the things you do and why you do them.

Why you have developed the habits and beliefs you have to this point in your life.

The one thing you have to be clear about is that: Thoughts lead you to Feelings that lead you to Actions that then become Habits that create your Character and transform your Behavior giving you the Results you now have.

You are NOT your mind, because if you understand what I just told you, then you understand that YOU CAN BE ANYONE YOU WANT. That also sound cliche. Jajaja

I recommend you to research "Neuroplasticity", and read "The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" by T. Harv Eker.

    yes alaxander ,

knowing yourself and knowing why you have the beliefs you do..is critical ..in teaching yourself how to change those beliefs and to see which beliefs are not valid any more ..

not all thoughts leed to feelings though ..most thought just get thought the they get forgot..it is the thoughts that settle in and stay a while that create feelings ..and many times those need to stick around for a while until they lead to actions and beliefs ..

when you understand yourself and how tomanipulate and motivate yourself ..you can speed up that process ..

you really can not be anyone ..but you can always strive to be a better version of yourself

I use to just let any thought come to me. I would linger on thoughts that took away my energy. I purposelly stay aware of what I am thinking, and if it is negative, I break it up by forcing myself to think of productive things. I read, watch, listen to things that rises my beliefs.
    Signature

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Yeah! Any thought that doesn't help your cause does not worth a dime. Just get rid of them.
