How many times you've said/heard: Get a life?!

Honestly, I always think twice before I say, get a life, to someone. Why? Because I know how it hurts me when I hear it. I want to get a life. I need to get a life. But first, I need to work. Right? This is how it works, or am I missing something?

It's easy to say - get a life to someone who's struggling to make a better life. Especially in IM. You need to give your best shot and devote yourself completely, if you want to make it happen. We all make a sacrifice with a hope that one day it's gonna be completely worth it all the trouble. The last thing you need is for some guy to tell you to get a life, while you're doing your very best to succeed.

How do you feel about this one? How many times have you said or heard this infamously famous phrase? The next time I hear it, I'm gonna say, define life.

If you want to have a life, take the time that you spend on this forum asking very obtuse questions and instead devote that same time to reading the works of the world's great thinkers which may impart some actual wisdom and knowledge to you.

Looking for the answers to life on an IM forum is not going to be any salvation for you. Most of your questions are rhetorical and shallow. That's truly not said in an effort to be insulting, but only to illuminate what you spend a fair amount of time thinking about and concerning yourself with what others think on these topics, which in the end is just personal opinion that runs the gamut and none of the answers are going to unlock any secrets for you. I'm not positive of that, but I'm fairly certain based on many of the musings I see posted, here.

It's your time and your life and I certainly would never try to tell you how to use either, but I would suggest that you try to clearly ascertain what the payoff might be for you.

I'm pretty sure that you are able to deduce what many might say to you for spending time in this manner, but I'll be nice and pass on the incredibly obvious.

    Cheers. - Frank

P.S. Defining life is easy. It's what you discover when you put down your mouse and walk away from your computer.

      Thx Frank,

This is the right way to do it. There's really no need to insult someone with your critic. So, I'm definitely not taking it the wrong way. Some threads I've seen on this forum including some of mine are simply ridiculous. Yet, warrirors enjoy to discuss them. I'm one of them. They may be shallow and pretty much obvious, but it really feels good to see what other people have to say.

WF has become a part of mine get a life approach. I'm not proud, but at least I'm honest about it. Between projects and other freelance related work I like to drop by. It's good for me. It makes me relax and forget about my worries. That's it.

You're right Frank no question about it. But, I enjoy this "wrong" and this particular thread is important for me on a personal level. So, I'm gonna sit and wait if some other warrior has something else to say about it. I also noticed that some veteran warriors are creating psychological profiles based on someone's threads and comments, which is something I'm not gonna discuss.

Why so serious? Tired of seriousness.

      All the best F. Cheers.

Please don't instruct me on how to post. Let the mods deem if a way of posting is appropriate or not. I really don't live my life to anyone's dictates. I'm almost 70 years old. What are you? 20? Get serious.
There's really no need to insult someone with your critic.
That would be 'critique' but by inferring my post can be insulting you are being a critic. lol

Wow! Honest introspection. You don't see much of that around here.

I was only asking you to examine if it was a productive use of your time. You seem to think it is and I have no problem with that. As I said - "your life and your time." Spend it however you see fit. I was not making a judgement. Just asking a question.

Forgetting about your worries is one tact. Facing them head on and eradicating them is another. Your call.
You're right Frank no question about it.
I get that a lot! lol

I never used the word, 'wrong.' That was you. :-)
Why so serious? Tired of seriousness.
My mistake. I thought you were asking a serious question and were looking for some serious input. So, basically this is just a time-sucker for you. Knowing that, I won't respond in the future. Don't want my brilliant postulations to go wasted on the unappreciative. lol There are many folks, here who will tell you exactly want you want to hear because they believe they are being helpful, good - and kind. I'll leave that to them. That's NOT what I do.
All the best F. Cheers. N
        And the same to you.

          I'm 40.

I don't judge warriors by the date they signed or by the number of posts/comments/thanks.

If this is your goodbye letter to all of my threads, then I feel bad.

          Lost in translation?

Not saying 'goodbye.' Just won't offer much because this is just a pastime for you. Either way, I'm sure you'll survive without my imput. You've made irt to 40 without me.
            Lost in translation?
            I don't think so.

Now, if you'll forgive an old man, I am going to follow my own advice, disconnect from the computer, put the top down on the Bimmer and head down to Cape May for two dozen fresh oysters and a couple of ice cold beers.

            Enjoy your day.

            Cheers. - Frank
