Tips to boost your self-confidence

Growing up, I should concede I had low self-regard. Possibly it was my companions who made me feel that I don't have a place and I was a washout or something. What I did was simply concentrate on my studies which made me look a washout much more.

When I achieved secondary school, I started to mingle and get a gathering of companions. Some way or another, they have expanded by certainty by letting me know acclaims and the great qualities that I have.

At present, I can't say that I have 100% certainty yet I think I am sufficiently sure to confront the world.

Presently I simply need to inquire as to whether you have certainty boosting tips so that anybody here who needs certainty would figure out how to improve.

Indeed, what would you be able to guidance?

I've found that gaining experience by doing things that matter to you boosts self-confidence.

If you're somewhat of a geek and need some PHYSICAL confidence I'd recommend a boxing training program called virtual boxer, look it up. Helped me tremendousely. (It's a simulator).
Othdr than that, learn how to use affirmations on yourself to boost self esteem and confidence.
Also, keep on reading about the subject and get better at being a strong human being. It takes a lot of time to become confident, but I've seen many people transform from their geeky selves to strong confident people. Good luck.

I think it is a little easier to be confident the older I get.

I too was slightly insecure when I was younger and didn't like to be in the limelight, while I am no show pony now I think the older I get the less I care about what people think and the more I realise I need to be confident in myself regardless of the people around and their opinions.

I surround myself with people who are supportive, positive and encouraging and anyone who is negative or makes me doubt myself or is not enhancing my personal or business life I don't focus my efforts on. Honestly, life is too short.

Since starting my business I can do what I want, when I want to and this has given me the confidence to slowly be the person I want to be almost 100% of the time.

    My tips:

    Believe in yourself.
    Don't be afraid of challenges.
Surround yourself with like minded and positive people.
    Celebrate the little things.

    Hi there,
This is an interesting topic for a thread.

I certainly wasn't a confident child, and even into my early twenties I was still unsure of where I fitted into the world.

I made a new year's resolution about ten years ago that I was going to do all that I could to become as strong physically, mentally and spiritually as possible. So throughout those 12 months I joined a gym, signed up for a few counselling sessions and even started to explore a faith.

It was the best thing that I ever did for my confidence!

The counselling helped me come to terms with who I was and more importantly WHY I was. I learnt that I don't need to apologise for my behaviour and that who I am is perfectly OK and more.

Physically, with a strong body, I also felt like I had a strong mind. I started to walk with confidence, my posture improved and I was living a healthier lifestyle that I became proud of.

Spiritually, I learnt that there was a bigger picture to this day here on earth, and regardless of what mine, or anybody else's beliefs are, it helped me focus less on the small stuff.

Working on those three areas over a period of time are all things that have helped me to grow my confidence and I'd thoroughly recommend them.

    I hope that helps.

When we're not confident we're not living our life to it's fullest potential which is a shame, not only for us, but also to those around us so I hope you get some clarity on this.

    Good luck

I believe that if you want to be more confident at something, you simply have to keep doing it.

I mean, the first time you rode a bike or when you first tried to drive your car on the highway, you were probably scared. After the fiftieth and fifty thousandth time you did it, you probably weren't scared anymore. It became routine.

The trick is simply taking that first step.

Oh yeah, here are other tricks too:
Go and learn about it. If you're scared of failure (e.g. "what if I lose money on stocks?!"), then read more about it! Eventually, you'll lose the fear of the unknown because you studied about it. ("Oh, ok, so that's how you check a company's fundamentals and technicals, and there will always be fluctuations in price...")

Try visualizing yourself doing it too, and use positive and successful images in your mind. That's what olympic athletes do, and I've read somewhere (maybe an NLP book?) that minutes of visualization is equivalent to an hour of actually doing the work.

That is a great point, practice makes perfect as they say and the more you do something, the less daunting it is.

That being said, some people will never be entirely comfortable in social situations for example and may never get the confidence to speak in a large group - but putting yourself in that situation regularly should hopefully take away some of the anxiety.

Fear of the unknown is the biggest confidence killer!

My only way is to "keep faking it until you make it".
Keep forcing yourself to be confident and then eventually, you'll be it

  • Take control of your negative thoughts that are running through your mind like an endless track. Replace it with positive thoughts. Challenge or dispute your negative thinking and tell yourself how your fear is exaggerating the situation and that these thoughts are not real. Keep asking yourself if the situation is as bad as I am making out to be? Are there other ways to perceive the situation? When you start seeing your life in a more positive light, you will be more self-confident.

Proven way to boost self-confidence is to increase your competence in your field. Knowing that you are good at what you do increases self-confidence. So set aside time each week to improve your skills or learn more about your industry. Evidence that you are getting better in your field is being able to achieve goals that are getting progressively bigger.

I don't think self-confidence can be boosted in a short time. You have to be patient. According to my experience, you just need to have a faith that I try and fail, I learn from it and improve my strategy, then I try again...try again and I will find the key to success sooner or later.

Here's a little secret- probably 99% of the population have problems with self confidence, some just hide their insecurities better than others.

There have been some great responses here so far that have hit the nail on the head, so I'll just add this:

You can't be good at everything. No one is. Pick out the areas you want to be successful at and realize it's all about Trial and Error. You'll get where you want to get eventually, but you'll have stumbles along the way.

There is no such thing as failure- there is just Error that helps you refine your techniques and sets you up for the next Trial.

Can you vouch for it? I've seen very few reviews of Cosmic Master's programs and they are ultra expensive.

        This one is el cheapo.

Yes, it's pretty good but if money is an issue look around for cheaper but they are not to the caliber of CM's.

It's not that I don't have the money, but some of them run like $500+, so I was wondering whether they brought $500 worth of value.

I'll give Dictator a try and let you know what I think. Thanks again for the recommendation.

The cosmic's programs are very drastic.

Try the "personal & business success" somewhere in the site, talking about building yourself from the ground up. Like think and grow rich on steroids.

I agree with wordsandthebees about physical confidence. One time I started taking steroids (found steroids for sale) to lose weight. I was really fat. It was just embarrassing even to go out. I can't say that I am looking thin now but at least I can go to the shop. Physical appearance is a lead factor in self-confidence.
