Make my day vs Ruin my day

Do you feel and think the same way when I say that it is a thin line between a moment when someone or something can make or ruin your day completely? Who is to blame? Is this something that changes and becomes worse as we are getting old? Or, maybe some of us are born this way. Meaning, there are some people they can get their day be ruined in a sec just like that. Get a thick skin. Is this the only solution? Or, maybe we need to be careful about the people and situation we get in touch with. What is their capacity to make or ruin our days? Is that the main criterion? Then again, how can you tell that some of your most trusted clients aren't going to move from the make-my-day to the ruin-my-day zone?

Why am I asking these questions in the first place? Well, I guess that I have quite a few ruined days. I would like to reduce them. I believe that's not too much to ask. I am also convinced that's not an unreasonable thing to ask. So, I guess, the first thing to do is to decide who is to blame? Is it all on me? I would like to hear if some of you guys have found some effective methods that work against situations and people that have the capacity for ruining your days. I don't expect to find a magic formula that will allow me to have and enjoy only the perfect days. But again, I just had enough of ruined days. Probably more than I can handle. So, let's hear about the best ways to avoid ruin-my-day scenario. Thx.

I used to feel like you and then I learned Choice Theory (Dr William Glasser). There are a ton of his books available because he was very prolific. Probably the best one to start with is called Take Charge of Your Life.

The premise of his work is that the way we feel and the quality of our days is our choice, so no one else can ruin or make our day. That's a huge simplification and no one gets there without going through a bit of a journey.

How do you think other people are ruining your days?

Thx D. Will definitely look for this title appreciated. Just recalled reading somewhere, not sure, no one can ruin your day without your permission/invitation. So, what you're saying makes a perfect sense. Thx. TT

Thick skin ins not a solution, it's a trap.
The solution is to learn not to be stuck on something and to let go.
