Be careful who or what you envy!

I heard that you have to be careful what you wish for because you may get it. OK, I get it. It makes a perfect sense to me. This can easily turn out to be a trouble rather than a blessing. What's happening with envy? Can we say the same? I'm not an envious person. Yet, I guess that I should be careful when it comes to my wishes.

One of my friends also runs a radio. Yet, he plays something you may call the mainstream music. Consequently, he has much more work to do compared with our radio, which focuses exclusively on dance classic hits. So, I can't say that I envy him in a traditional sense. However, I caught myself thinking about his radio and how he is doing great. On one occasion I really didn't have any problem admitting my situation and sharing my jealous thoughts with my friend. I said that I really feel bad about, but I just can't help myself.

To my biggest surprise, he wasn't offended at all. He explained to me why. He said that being successful in this line of business means to have numerous listeners who expect flawless streaming and regular activities on social networks. In addition, my friend, who doesn't have a partner like me, has to take care of countless meetings with advertisers all by himself. He provided so many details that I actually started to feel sorry for him. I really had no idea that the things can be so complicated once you succeed.

How about you? Does your wish crosses a fine line between a simple desire and a jealous thought? Is it some kind of a poetic justice that you ned up with something you envy before?
