How to survive the business roller coaster?

Running an independent business is just like a roller coaster ride, isn't it? To tell you the truth, this ride has become extremely stressful and painful. The same old story I keep hearing all the time about ups and downs has simply lost all of its healing powers. Perhaps the trick is to catch up speed the best you can, so you can reach the desirable level of success. This can help you go through the lowest points of your business roller coaster ride with less stress and pain. You have actually achieved something. So, you can afford to survive a few downs, can't you?

On the other side, if you're still struggling and keep failing to achieve some respectable success, then I guess, the roller coast ride will stop to be a pleasant one at some point. Maybe, it's because of the old bones, but the excitement of situations when you don't know what to expect easily becomes a torture. I'm also not forgetting that the most dangerous roller coasters are by default the most profitable ones.

So, what's your word of advice? Should we keep away from business roller coasters? Is there a way to minimize the potential damage? My biggest problem is that you have to go through a few bone-breaking moments in a single day! One email or phone call can completely change your situation. You lose a client. You win a client. Then multiply this with two or three and put in a single day. How are you supposed to feel? Where are you supposed to find the energy to move on? Imagine that you have been through an extremely intense roller coaster ride with no seat belt and with no smooth beginning and ending. You are forced to jump in when you expect it the least. You are forced to stop when you also don't expect or want. You need some time just to be able to stand on your feet again. I'm sick and tired of these business roller coaster rides. How about you?
