Do good ideas always come at a bad time?

I have read probably hundreds of inspirational stories about successful people who got an inspiration at the most unusual time and in the least expected places. So, I have been wondering. What's the best strategy to be on alert when it comes to new ideas? What's the best way to catch and keep them in your memory, so you can later fully exploit them with no losses? Do you have to sleep with a smartphone under a pillow? I think I read some guys actually do it. Do you remember what Don Draper used to do in Mad Men? Some of his best ideas were written on napkins.

Or, maybe the best thing you can do is to accept that a good idea is always welcome regardless of the time or place. You just have to make sure that you grab it, when it appears without a warning. To tell you the truth, I appreciate these rare moments of sudden clarity and the greatest creativity. I do my best to get as many details as possible when I get a sudden inspiration or a solution for problems that has been bothering me for some time. I write myself an email. Or, I record my own voice. What's your way of making notes of your own ideas? Have you find some effective way, you're willing to share here?

Yes they do. When I am in the shower. I lose most of them because I hardly ever remember them when after stepping out the bathroom.

First I find actively expecting your mind to give you great ideas and solutions, like most things gets better with practice. Also when you write these ideas down and put them to work, you receive more of them.

The subconscious is awesome in it's own rite, and loves to be appreciated.

I get ideas anywhere, and anytime, but most often when I have written down a problem or scenario that needs resolving on my list at night, I frequently wake up with a great answer flooding my mind. I write it down immediately, otherwise I have found when I wake up more fully and leave alpha sate, I've been known to forget a solution.

The solutions are almost always innovative and many times not something I would have thought of in a wide awake state.

During bad times, your survival instinct is up to gear.

    In full thrust.

I remember coming up with an idea, when I was completely shambled.

This idea served me for life.

I do credit however the power of hypnosis. You see, I was 'programmed'.

And the power within took shape and form.

Sometimes all you have to do, is feel the force within.

A good yellow legal pad is what I use for (I keep index cards handy in my car)

    - good ides
    - bad ideas
    - to do list
    - goals
    - notes from seminars

IMO there is something stronger in writing down things as compared of typing them into a device of some type. There definitely is some satisfaction on those "to do" lists in drawing a line through completed tasks as well.

  • A lot of people have good ideas. Just that it was never really well executed.

Ideas come and go, but those that are prepared will find that the ideas are well timed.

I remembered a speech by elon musk saying his ideas came to him in his shower. Then he wrote it in a notebook and acted on it. I guess this is big difference why he is elon musk and the rest of us are well... the rest of us.

A great tip for myself is always have a notepad, digital or otherwise, to jot down these random ideas. You never know dont you.

I've had hundreds of ideas for websites.

My best and most profitable inspiration come from my day job. So that's often a good starting point. Look for something that can be automated or businesses can outsource to a 3rd party.

honestly i am kind of wondering why you are stuck on the bmw thing.. in what way will that certain model of car improve your life ..and does the rest of the stuff you have in your lifestyle match a person with a brand new bmw lifestyle ..

To keep what i do fun and all that i am constantly trying different props and different poses..so i don't need any more bad times to implement ideas i have .. but the again i walk around drinking while i work and make good money ..

the other day a group of security guard was surrounding someone passed out on the ground .. i though he was getting arrested .. but later i asked the security guard about it ..and he said no i was trying to wake him up and the other security guard where there to stop tourists from taking photos of the guy passed out ..

So now when i want to change things up and people tip me I ask .. hey want me to lay on the ground and look passed out ..so far it's been something that makes people laugh hard .

along with the empty bottle of fireball in carloses carrier and the half smoked cig .

Well, set impossible goals and all of that!

Besides l am already getting a top end laptop, (next week, now, thanks to an annoying saleperson, that said l would get it today) that is enough, at the moment.

I dunno, l think nothing says more about being a success than a BMW, although l might just end up getting a small car with all the extras instead.

Considering the gutless wonder we have running our state, luxury cars being stolen by 15 year old Africans is becoming a cliche.

    Well, that and power blackouts.

Besides l may have had a very good idea, didn't see it til l was in the hole. So, yeah, a bad time forces you to think it through instead of persuing a course that may not be the best one. Or only has part of the answer.

well with the black outs at least your doing something to fight global warming hey..

and is african the soft term for refugee.. at least there are no guns involved right..

back to lifestyles and ideas ..

people tend to need bad time to change thing because 90 percent of their energy is used to keep thing the same no matter what even if their live suck ..they never envision having a life that doesn't suck ..they only work hard enough to get to a level where they will survive and be numb to the suck in their lives

right now i don't need a car the place i live is a mile walk from the Las Vegas strip ..so there and back is 2 miles and some days i make the trip 3 times so an exra 6 miles of walking a day with the walking i do while i work.. it has improve my health a lot ..the the amount of beer i drink meant i didn't lose weight for a while.

anyway do you need a car how often do you have to go anywhere that the car would not just be sitting there . would uber or lyft or ride sharing services ..be more cost effective than owning a car .

i am not a fan of impossible goals ..but i do have several long term goals that currently are not possible ..but i create my future according to what can be there in the future not an expectation that the past will repeat itself .

so part of my ideal lifestyle will be to have my electric needs met by solar panels that will be available 5 -10 years from now and good battery storage that is currently expensive but will get cheaper real fast .

getting electricity from the grid will be as old fashioned as having a landline telephone in your house ..in 10 to 15 years

all aspects of what is now considered standard living are becoming optional ..so it will be bad times for many if they try to put on a show and get thing they don't need in order to look like they are successfull or not poor .

Your class will not be determined by your income the house you live in or the car you drive ..if those thing tether you to one area .. the amount of mobility you have in your lifestyle will be the major sign of class .

blah way off on an out there tangent sorry

Well, l won't discuss global warming here, and no, it does nothing.

Some are refugees, and some are on visas, and some are permanent. But all are under the age of 18, so the law system is a joke. Every week we hear about more african children knocking over this and that or kicking someone old since they were bored, and such.

Get these little s***ts in a cell with a victum, and the problem would be solved.

No l use a car a few times, a week, but life would seriously suck if l didn't have it.

And yeah, l was going down the employ people to do flyers path, and completely missed something else.

So adversity really does allow you to see the woods for the trees.

Solar panels, lol, no not me, a paddock or two of Tesla ciruits will power my house forever. Hypothetically speaking of course.

Not always. (Good ideas can come at any time.)

However many times the ideas that do come from "struggles"/adversity/Etc. are (really) good ideas. Something that has really helped me (that I have mentioned before) is the following quotation from Napoleon Hill ("Think And Grow Rich") - "Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."

In my experience dealing with Mental Illness (Schizophrenia) that has been true. In fact the current Venture I'm working on at the moment (HopeAndAdvice.com - not online yet) is the result of several notes I made the last time I was in Hospital. From my website is this sentiment:

"Often your greatest gift will come out of your greatest hurt."

    Great question.

Something I understood from your OP is "Inspiration." And, something I love about these "Inspired" ideas, is that although they start of just being an "idea" they often evolve (without the required time and effort) into something amazing. : )
