The Mouse, Chicken and Your Success

Today we're going to talk about what Disney and some chicken can teach you about achieving success. Ready?

Here we go...

Colonel Sanders, the man behind KFC went wasn't always the big chicken fast food name you know now.

How many times do you think Colonel Sanders heard no before getting the answer he wanted?

He was refused 1,009 times before he ever heard his first yes.

Yes that's right. He took 1009 rejections before he got his big Yes!

He spent two years driving across America in his old, beat-up car, sleeping in the back seat in his rumpled white suit, getting up each day ready to share his secret recipe and ideas with someone new.

How many people do you think would have gone for 1,009 no's - two years of no's! - and kept on going? Very few.

That's why there is only one Colonel Sanders.

I think most people wouldn't get passed a dozen no's, much less a hundred or a thousand!

Yet, this is sometimes what it takes to succeed. If you look at any of the most successful people in history, you will found this common trait...

They would not be denied what they truly wanted. They would not accept no.
If you look at any of the most successful people in history, you will found this common trait...

They would not be denied what they truly wanted. They would not accept no.

They would not allow anything to stop them from making their vision and goal, a reality.

Walt Disney was turned down...

Ready for this?

302 times before he got financing for his dream of creating "The Happiest Place on Earth".

All the banks thought he was crazy. The funny thing was...

He wasn't crazy; he was a true visionary and more importantly, he was committed to making that vision a reality.

Today, millions of people have shared in "The Joy of Disney", a world like no other, a world launched by the decision of one man.

One person, one idea, one vision, one mission, and the determination to never quit can be the moment between success and a failure. What am I saying to you?

Simple...

Don't let one or a thousand no's be the end. Just know that sometimes it takes many many many no's and many mistakes (lessons is a better word) to reach phenomenal success.

One way to look at your continued action on your part is to know that one more action, one more step, one more strategy, one more try and or one little added detail can be...

The defining moment and action that transforms your idea into a profitable reality.

agree. there are a lot of valuable lessons from the biographies of successful people including extreme perseverance as you highlighted.

my favorite life lesson from walt disney is how he transitioned from the goal of making animated movies to the goal of building disneyland. making full length animated movies (first was snow white) was an exciting goal. then it became boring (around the time of cinderella) and disney was uninspired with this path. making animated movies went on auto-pilot for him although not necessarily auto-pilot for his animation team.

the interesting part to me..... is that the transition from one inspiring goal to another was not quick at all. it took literally YEARS for disney to become inspired again. here you have a rich, successful person who can do a wide variety of goals with his company.... but nothing seemed inspiring.

his emotions were cloudy. disney couldn't feel which direction was the right direction. so he waited. he waited while his animation team was going in the same direction. instead of his normal work, he spent a lot of time playing with toys and building model trains. one of these model trains was big enough for a child to ride..... then slowly over years of playing and building small model toys.... enthusiasm for a new goal emerged.... the goal of disneyland.

Today, millions of people have shared in "The Joy of Disney", a world like no other, a world launched by the decision of one man.
those years of playing weren't wasted. those years of dreaming became the fuel for a new inspiration that was shared with millions of people.

Thanks for posting this. There are countless examples in all walks of life. For any comic book fans out there, for example, many might be familiar with Todd McFarlane, who's known for being one of the most successful and game-changing comic book artists in the history of the industry.

He was rejected over 700 times before finally being offered a small gig on an unknown book, and he just kept working from there.

Today, he still holds many records even though his biggest boom was back in the early 90s.

    You're Welcome and Absolutely....

There is countless examples of not taking no for an answer. The not taking no for an answer is great and applies to a lot of people, however at the same time, learn that not everything is a success and not everything you create or do is a "homerun". Don't waste your time or money on a dead idea or non valuable idea. Some things we will have to learn from and move on.

Test, tweek and improve if needed.

The real key is to discover the product/service/idea that is of real value and deserves to be out there and never stop.

well you can have a successful life without having any home runs ..most football game are won with most play being for short yards .

here is the thing .. we pay to much attention in the personal development / self improvement industry on the extreme examples and try to follow their play book .which you can find hundreds of people who followed the same playbook and died broken and penniless .. if nepolian hill wasn't saved in his lare years by W Clement Stone . hill would have died poor .

every idea has it's time .. and there is a lot to be learned from failed ideas or starting a failing small before you are ready to start ..

to many people are sitting on their asses , waiting for the home run idea or the billion dollar idea , and will have a future full of unrealized dreams ..

The best quaterbacks get picked off ..or they get sacked. and they have passes dropped all the time , the best hitters only get a few dozen home runs a year at best , and get struck out or walked.. or thrown out many many times . Micheal jordan has a whole skitt on his many failures as a basketball player ..

you learn through others failure and your own.. sometimes you have to do stuff that will fail that you know might be wrong from learning from other to actually get it .. that is how people learn music, language, cooking, art, or martial arts ..

look again at the story of Mr sanders , he had a retirement that supported him while he traveled around trying to sell his idea for a fast food chain based on his fried chicken.. it was either give up and and wither in retirement.. or do the only thing he could .

this is the truth behind successful people ..do they do what they are driven to do or do they suppress that drive and do the average and wither away in the so called average life ..

unless you are standing at a point where you see the two roads ahead of you .. the average or expected life or the life you are driven to live ..

in many cases for successful people they where actually cut off from the expecvtd life or had not much expectation..or expectation of failure ..

if you can get a job and live a comfortable life your chances of doing the unexpected and building a great life are greatly diminished .
