Cure For Procrastination (What if procrastination was an illness?)

The number one thing you should do if you're procrastinator and you have tried all the self-help stuff is...

Drumroll please!

Make sure your REWARD / Motivation system is working properly.

Aka Dopamine and the other neurotransmitters such as GABA, Acetylcholine and serotonin.

If you have deficiency in these neurotransmitters it can cause havok with you brain function and motivation for life.

For most people who procrastinate there's NO POINT in doing tasks because they get no reward from it.

So they have to use a lot of WILL POWER just to do anything. Unless its things like watching TV, playing computer games or masturbating. Or something they love extremely. In some cases you may use to love something but now you can't be asked to do it at all anymore.

Guess why? Lack of dopamine.

They know they SHOULD do it but they rather do something else that makes them feel good for the dopamine release. It's hard for a procrastinator to do something they don't want to do without an excellent reward system in place.

Doesn't matter how much REASON why you put behind it. It won't last. You always have to be doing something NEW to feel good.

The new trend now is MINI habit's. That won't work either if you're deficient.

It the hardware thats not working properly not the software.

Doesn't matter how much software (incantations affirmations, visualization self-help programs) you do. You'll still be stuck because your hardware is not in order.

While you'll get excited for a while and buy product after product to get you dopamine fix. You won't follow through and take action especially if you're deficient in dopamine.

How do you get deficient in dopa and the other neurotransmitters?

Porn, Ejaculating and substances like cocaine spike dopamine way out of wack. So in order to feel pleasure, you have to do these things and NOTHING else really gives you that sense of reward. Meaning you have to do something extreme to really feel excited and motivated about something...

But guess what... That won't last.

Now this might also give you a condition called anhedonia.

It's basically a condition where you can't feel much. Your feelings are numb and shallow. You can feel negative feelings way more than positive feelings.

Not sure if anyone is going to relate to this but if you're interested in finding out how to overcome this. Let me know and I'll post the links and resources. It only takes 30-90 days to overcome providing you're already healthy.

When you get you brain back and upgrade it. It's like going from windows 97 to MacOS Sierra lol!

I believe this to be the route cause to a lot of peoples procrastination.

Ejaculating too much. Porn addiction. Social media addiction. TV addiction, Shopping Addiction, Drug Addiction, Alcohol addiction. You get the point!

Porn and Ejaculating are the worst!
You liked your answer in another thread so well....you decided repost it in a new thread?

In my opinion, people spend way too much time giving themselves excuses why they don't get anything done. Of course, it gives others a chance to offer 'solutions' to them.

People do spend way too much time making excuses.

I for one thought I was making excuses. So I pushed through the excuses, had a lot of success however burned myself out and made myself sick.

I literally got nothing out of pushing myself. The only thing I got were "things". I felt worse off than when I started.

While I can tell people to just push through. Take massive action and to stop making excuses. I understand from my own experience sometimes that is not always the answer.

I think you are onto something, but I also believe dopamine issues are responsible in only a small subset people. I take anti-psychotics (which reduce dopamine levels) and feel the negative difference in motivation levels since I started taking them.

Same. I'm on Medication too. Fortunately it doesn't affect my motivation. My old Meds made me feel really sedated though. : (

Maybe you could ask your Team about trying another Med?

I think part of it comes down to your "Reason Why." If your reason is strong enough, it will keep you going even when you don't feel like it/procrastinate.

        Lol. Fair enough.

My personal "Reason Why" is to: Empower and inspire as many People as humanly possible. (Just something that keeps me going.)

ok there will be some profanity in my wise reply ,

if you don't want to do something and you are not motivated to do it. when you start making excuses on why you are not doing it yet. stop bullshitting yourself and just say **** it i do not want to do it .

chances are that you are wasting so much energy and effort trying to get yourself to do thing you really do not value doing . that you are taking away from other thing you could be doing ..

chances are there are many people in your life who have big ideas about what you can do for them with your time . so you play the i am so busy game ...and when you want to watch tv you watch tv and claim to be procrastinating .

I have an extreme minimized lifestyle right now and i am thousands of miles away from any family members ..dealing with winter in las Vegas and able to do things when i have the money . so the amount of things i can procrastinate on are really small.

Here are the resources I have found along my journey. I hope it helps someone.

I've been doing internet marketing for 10 years.
I struggled in school and failed
    "Diagnosed with ADD and dyslexia"
Always thought I was stupid because of it.

Bare in mind I have taken A LOT of action and made a lot of money online. Using reason why. Pushing myself and stepping outside my comfort zone. With no rewards (feeling joy etc). I get the "Things" but feel the same. Then i tried enjoying the process... but i couldn't.

All while remembering what is was like to actually feel the fullness of my feelings and rewards for going gym etc. Then all of a sudden you don't feel much anymore.

Imagine knowing you love someone but you can't feel it fully? You only feel glimpses of it.
Imagine knowing your passionate about something but not being able to get anything from it when you do it?
Imagine writing reasons why... Like for my family, friends, to leave a legacy, change the world and feeling lack of inspiration. However you KNOW that's what you want and what will motivate you but you feel nothing or just a little glimpses.

The funny thing is.. Visualization tells you to FEEL. Incantations require you to feel. EFT requires you to feel. Most of personal development requires feeling in order to work. Your goals and dreams require you to feel. When you have lack of feelings. You'll sit there and wonder why everyone else can do it but you can't and you beat yourself up..

I understand the reason why stuff. Don't get me wrong it does work. But not if you have anhedonia or your brain doesn't have sufficient levels of neurotransmitters.

You do all the stuff the gurus say to do but it doesn't work.

One of my students had this same problem. HE LOVED guitar. Yet he stopped playing it through some tragic things that happened in his past. After working with him 1 on 1 and having him go through the protocol. He now thanks me almost everytime we speak for how much his life has transformed.

I can honestly say once you're able to feel the reward for your efforts. You're able to feel motivation. You're able to feel more pleasure. Procrastination will be reduced WHILE apply personal development techniques. Everyone will procrastinate. I still do. But it's WAY different than it was before. It's not like I never procrastinate. I am a human, not a machine.

I done SO much conditioning on becoming worthy, deserving, loving myself. Allowing myself to have good things in my life. Non of that stuff worked because my hardware wasn't working as it should.

I even done EEG work for my brainwaves. None of it worked.

Like I said I have my students go through brain optimization process with miraculous results. I believe there are many other people who follow personal development. Try to improve and change but it doesn't work, like it does for some people.

I believe there are just flat out lazy people. However, there are others who have had traumatic lives that affect their brain and emotions. For example living with narcissistic parent can ruin your brain health. I've test two people with narcissistic parents and they both had extremely low scores in their brain neurotransmitters

I have hired expensive coaches, cheap coaches. Courses, books etc. Nothing comes close to this stuff. While these programs got me through it never dealt with the route cause of why is was so hard for me to take action. I know theres other people out there that this will help. Yet they are thinking I just need to improve their mindset. However, I believe your mindset WILL change but you still won't be able to feel which is the very thing that get's you to take action and create habits.

Anyway here are some videos. let me know if you have any questions.
