Are You Pushing Yourself To 100%?

I always ask myself this question, Is I am pushing myself to 100% of my potential? And I always get a same answer NO. August was the month where I had achieved a great financial success ($6000 a month by IM) still I was feeling that I could have done better. I personally feel that I only use 30%-40% of a caliber which I have.

What you guys think? How much do you push yourself? 10% 20% 30 or more than that.

    Hi Robert,

Thanks for sharing yr story. Of course, for me looking at U having made $6k per month, in my position, I'm pretty inspired by your outcomes (earlier today I would have felt depressed to read it but thats another story).

Not that I can talk from an IM perspective, but from a personal perspective, we believe that we must continue to 'push' ourselves to achieve when really the achievement itself comes less from pushing and more from 'being inspired' and making choices from that place.

Part of me wanted to say I envied you, but to reframe, I'm aiming for that level and from reading your story it tells me that the more I can be completely satisfied with everything that occurred today, and appreciate the steps I took ... I'll feel appreciative when I reach that level. I'm aiming to be satisfied with where I'm at, knowing that intrinsically the only way is up

By IM perspective there is a very thin line between pushing ourselves and being inspired. Important is, to give our 100% to our work.

I think if you could push yourself to 100% of your potential you would quickly burn out. But what if you outsourced? You could then exceed your potential 10 fold.

Thats an interesting point. Of course anybody can push themselves to work 20 hour days and make a crapload of money. But nobody can live a fulfilling life working their whole life.

I think pushing myself to 100% means that for the time I set aside to work (say 20 hours per week) then I am fully utilizing and optimizing that work time. As you mentioned I could work 20 hours a week and outsource 300 hours per week and as long as I am fully optimizing those 20 hours, then I am pushing myself to my 100%.

I agree with kenster, optimizing your work time in such a way that you an get maximum returns. My biggest problem is I have tons of logical ideas in my mind but very few I use practically.

When I mean by pushing to 100% this means, doing what you believe and pushing it till you achieve desired results.

I believe I pushed myself 100% for the first few months after leaving my job as I know I had to make it work or I would have to go back to work for someone else.

I sometimes feel it's only when our backs are against the wall that we come out fighting and push ourselves 100%.

I now outsource certain parts of my business so I do not have to work 50 hours a week and I can have more fulfilling life.

Saying that I love what I do so I would still say I push myself very hard to acheive the maximum results. I often write motivational posts on my blog for anyone who is struggling. Feel free to check it out in my signature box below then go to category ''motivation''

    Regards.

Definately push myself really hard, but whether I could categorically say I push myself 100%? Well, no, I do have a tendency to be a bit lazy I'm afraid.

    Enjoy the journey.

One of the things that I have learned over the years is "Don't be afraid to be a little lazy" Thinking hard about things that you want to accomplish is really not pushing yourself, it's just plain smart. Keep in mind, that you can sit in front of this computer and stress yourself out.

Set a pace that is comfortable for you to reach your target. It does not matter if the target is big or small. Just the fact that you hit it is enough. So keep hitting it over and over is the point.

Sometimes while working on a project, I look around and the day is gone, its 7:00 PM. Time flies when you are having fun. For me, when I sit around and worry about things like opt-ins, conversations, etc makes me feel stressful and that is something I want to avoid.

Years ago, when I was competing against other Sales Managers I found out they were just having fun in what they were during and I was to serious. When I learn how to have fun with it, that's when I started to beat them and life has never been the same since.

    My 2 cents.

Your always going to be able to do more. Always, its just the way it is. If there was an end then you wouldn't be earning 6k a month. Outsourcing is a great way to lift the weight and continue to grow your business. If you can earn 6k a month and feel like you can do more.

Sounds like you are a person with vision, that vision and essence of what your feeling about doing more means that you can be more efficient than you are right now to be able to effectively rocket whatever your doing now.

My suggestion is to do less and gain more.

I feel very lucky that I am in IM business( Its blessing of God and my Mother,Father). I know there is no other business by which we can start with low or zero budget and grow it to such an extent.

The scalability for IM is unlimited, the only thing is how you handle and how you scale. Most people like to follow other people's methods and try to neglect the innovative ideas which comes in their mind.

After reading all these replies I feel like I am the most lazy person on the forum. But I will overcome my laziness.

Great topic as usual. In the very beginning, I found myself frustrated because I didn't understand a certain concept, or I didn't achieve a certain result when I thought it should've happened.

I then had to step back and think to myself. Why did I decide to enter this business. It's because if done correctly, it can afford me the lifestyle I desire. Financial freedom, residual income and when I do decide to put in some hours, it's on MY time, from my computer. I have to remind myself WHY I am doing this when things get a little sticky.

If it takes me 5 years to develop the skills to earn a 6 figure income PLUS work my own hours from home, it's worth ALL the emotional ups and downs. VERY few jobs or careers paths can give you that!

My personal goal is to be at $100/day in 2010. I will then be able to give up my job to someone who really needs it.

But to answer your question, I feel that I'm inching my way up towards a 30% effort. I then start feeling a little overwhelmed and disoriented, and have to step away for a while.

It feels pretty darn good though, when I accomplish a task, no matter how big or small it is!

I guess I started with 30% used of my potential.
But, I struggle to move forward and learn everyday.

The most important thing I guess,"Do the first thing first"
The second one would be,"Having some personal goals"
The third is,"Focusing on what you're doing"
          The last one,"Do it"

I give my best effort to give 100% of my attention and energy to projects I'm working on.

If I had days when I could spend 100% of my time on my projects I would do it for a period of time. Doing that day after day would make Frank a very dull boy.

I think pushing yourself yo 100% will exhaust you qickly , by other word the continues pushing to achive 100% all the time will make you out of energy in short time.May be it will be better if you pushed yourself toward 100% balanced life.

      B.Regards..

wow, robert, you envy me. can you teach me how to get $6k a month, since I'm new here, and need a lot of lesson to learn.

Well, answering your question, I could answered that probably I just used 60% of my potential. I don't want to push myself too hard, but that doesn't mean I'm satisfy enough with myself. I always encourage myself to learn everyday, from everywhere.

What I do everyday, I woke up in the morning to pray for guidance for today, start working out, and at the night, I say thanks to God for today and made some evaluation, so I can do better for tomorrow.:p

I keep thinking that if I give my 100% to my IM the first few months, then I can start to relax more because the initial income level will be set up. Does that make sense? Give it as much as possible to get it off the ground and then not have to give it quite so much, maybe outsource.
